Mr. Herbert B. Patterson, 81, of Bay City, died in San Antonio on October 28. He was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Bay City and was retired from Texasgulf, Inc. in Newgulf. Survivors include: wife, Mrs. Naomi Patterson of Bay City; five daughters, Mrs. Annie Ruth Grier and Mrs. Dorothy McKeehan of Fort Worth, Mrs. Doris Worth of Fort Worth, Mrs. Macy Henry of Orange and Mrs. Rachel Sellers of Bay City, two stepsons, Charles Ray Kennedy of Waco and Jay Dale Kennedy of Newgulf, sister, Mrs. Dimple Blakely of Sutter Creek, California; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. The funeral will be held at the First United Pentecostal Church on October 31 at 2:00 p. m. Officiating will be the Reverends Marvin Moore and Chester Sassman. Interment will be held at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers include: David W. Grier, Wallace C. McKeehan, Bobby J. Moore, Richard Sellers, Charles Ray and Jay Dale Kennedy. Willie Mae McGinnes Perkins

GALVESTON — Willie Mae McGinnes Perkins passed away Monday, March 21, 2011, at U.T.M.B. Hospital. She was born in Gonzales County, Texas to Lawrence and Carrie McGinnes. She was preceded in death by her first husband Jack Gilliam; second husband Charles; and her four brothers.

Dr. McGinnes graduated from Baylor College and the University of Texas Dental School. She practiced dentistry in Galveston for over fifty years. Dr. McGinnes was known for her gentle touch and her compassionate ear. Willie Mae was a member of Central Christian Church. She was a very loving Mother, grandmother and friend.

Willie Mae is survived by her daughters, Karen Wellborn and husband John, Jackie Gilliam, Tracy Bryant and husband Paul; Carey Bryan and husband Larry; grandchildren John and Jack Wellborn, Heather and Travis Bible and Luke Bryan. Her nephew Robert McGinnes will miss visiting his Aunt Mae. She predeceased her long time friends Idella and Willie Duncan and Bob Beard.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to the following: The Concord Family-Judy, Audrey, Brandy and Wanda; Central Christian Church Congregation; Miss Pearl’s children; Ed Walsh and Associates; Frost Bank-Stephanie, Donna, Freddie, Lorraine and Brenda; Linda West and the staff at Islander East; Wooldridge Place in Corpus Christi; UTMB Geriatric Medicine; Tammie and Rosa of 5D; Dr. E. and the Institute for Living; J. Roy Hall; and Compassionate Care Nurse Sara.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Central Christian Church, 2702 Avenue O 1/2, Galveston, Texas 77550, with the Rev. John Allums officiating.

Willie Mae was a people person, never met a stranger, and knew how to be a friend.

Funeral Services For J. D. Pike

Funeral services for J. D. Pike, owner of Pike’s Café here, were held Sunday afternoon at the Matchett-Newman Funeral Home with the Rev. A. D. Haney and the Rev. Mouzon Bass officiating. Burial was in the Cedarvale Cemetery.

Mr. Pike died from injuries received in a car wreck Friday afternoon near Clemville.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. L. B. Miller, Mrs. W. D. West, and Mrs. Ruth Dienst; one son, Vernon Lee; four sisters, Mrs. Wes Petty of Dallas, Mrs. Ted Tittle of Mount Vernon, Mrs. Ed Walker of Denton, Mrs. C. W. Carroll of Midland; father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Pike of Bogota.

Pallbearers were Paul Palmer, John Wells, Lee Walker, George Wainner, L. F. Davis, and O. R. Hagaman. Honorary pallbearers were R. G. Dolen, Ellis Andrews, Mike Mickelson, Frank Brown, R. J. McGlothlin, and Raymond Collins.

Mary Pike Condrey

Funeral services for Mary Pike Condrey, 82, of Bay City will be held 2 p. m. Friday at Church of God of Prophecy with the Rev. James Hall and the Rev. John A. Kroon officiating. Burial will be held at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Mrs. Condrey was born May 25, 1904, in Franklin County, Texas and died Oct. 28, 1986, at Matagorda General Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Edward King and the former Etta Elliott.

Survivors include: son, Vernon Pike of Tecumseh, Neb.; daughters, Etta Caldwell of Longview, Evey Dean West of Brazoria and Ruth Harris of Bay City; 13 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers include David West, Sammy West, Jimmy West, Bill Miller, Bobby Harris Jr., and Benny Stevens.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Church of God of Prophecy or the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements were made with Bay City Funeral Home.

Poole, Donald Keller, age 80, passed away in his home on May 16. Services will be held Wednesday, May 19 at 5:00 p. m. at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. W. D. O’Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Cedarvale Cemetery. Mr. Poole is survived by his widow, Mrs. Marguerite Poole; one brother, Dr. Mark Poole; three sisters, Mrs. Frances Burke, Mrs. Susan Barbour, Mrs. Irene Poole Barber, all of Bay City. Death Claims Noted Countians

Two prominent Matagorda Countians passed away this weekend, one who had been active in the life insurance business and another noted for his rice farming and cattle ranching.

Donald Keller Poole, 80, also a prominent citizen of Matagorda County, passed away Sunday, May 16, at his home in Bay City. He was a native of Tres Palacios, Tex., and the son of Thomas Jefferson Poole and Martha Elizabeth Poole, pioneer citizens of Matagorda County. He married Marguerite Huebner of Bay City in 1925.

For many years he and his late brother, T. J. Poole Jr., operated the Poole Cattle Company. In 1961 they were voted “Outstanding Cattlemen of the County.” Donald Poole with his wife Marguerite resided on the Poole Ranch in Brazoria County until 18 years ago, when they moved their home to Bay City.

Mr. Poole was also a well-known rice farmer in the area and was a charter member of the Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the American National Cattlemen’s Association, the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was an active elder in the Presbyterian Church for over 30 years and at his death was Elder Emeritus of the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City.

Tony Calvin Reese

Funeral services for Tony Calvin Reese, 66, of Bay City will be held 2 p. m. Thursday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home chapel with Brother Gary Scott officiating. Burial will be at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Mr. Reese was born March 18, 1926 in Palacios to Charlie and Omay Williams Reese and he died Jan. 18, 1993 at his home.

He was a member of the Palacios American Legion Post 345 and Palacios Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2467.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Floyd Reese of Bay City; three daughters, Cynthia Trousdale of Dickinson and Teresa Reese Mitchell and Charlotte Reese, both of Bay City; two sons, Tony James Reese of Little Rock, Ark. and Dennis Wayne Reese of West Columbia; two sisters, Mildred Griffith of Bay City and Dorothy Allen of Crockett; three brothers, Charlie James Reese of Bay City, Johnny H. Reese of Port Lavaca and Eddie Reese of La Marque; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Reese was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Omay Williams Reese; two brothers, Gillius and Tommy Reese and two sisters, Rosalie Tumlinson and Teresa Reese.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Williams, Steve Klingman, Jerry Brooks, Calvin Reese, Charlie Reese and David Reese.

Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City.

Mrs. Ernest E. (Bhema) Rising died Thursday at the Methodist Hospital in Houston. She is survived by her husband, Ernest E. Rising, Sr.; two sons, Dr. E. E. Rising, Jr., of Arlington, Texas and Dr. James Rising of Memphis, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; her mother, Mrs. Ella Yates of Eunis, and a sister, Mrs. Henry Ferguson.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, at the First Methodist Church of Bay City, the Rev. Conrad Winborn officiating. Interment will be in Cedarvale Cemetery, under the direction of Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.

 

A past resident of Bay City, Mrs. Rising will be well remembered for her active work in civic and school organizations. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a past president of the Parent Teachers Organization, and served in many other capacities in various organizations while living in Bay City.

Funeral Services For C. B. Robertson Held In Bay City

Funeral services for Charles Benjamin Robertson, 72, were held at the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home with the Bay City Masonic Lodge in charge of the burial service.

Mr. Robertson died in the Santa Fe Hospital at Temple.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Cleo Mardfeldt of Washington, D. C., and Mrs. Loy Taylor of Bay City; one son, G. B. Robertson Jr. of Angleton.

Mr. Robertson came to Bay City in 1929 from Sweetwater. He was employed by the Santa Fe Railway Company for many years, retiring in 1948.

Mrs. C. B. Robertson Dies Following Illness Of Years

Mrs. C. B. Robertson, 39 years, 11 months, 18 days, passed away at the Matagorda General Hospital Saturday afternoon at 5:30 following an illness of years. Confined to her bed for many years, Mrs. Robertson’s condition became critical about ten days ago and she was taken to the hospital where she underwent an operation.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 3 o’clock from Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Reverend Aubrey Maxted officiated and interment was in Cedarvale Cemetery.

Mrs. Robertson is survived by her husband who was for many years agent for the Santa Fe Railway here until his retirement a few years back. She is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. Loy Taylor of Bay City and son, C. B. Robertson, Jr., of Angleton and one brother, F. P. Behrman of Houston.

Efrain Romero, Jr., 18, passed away Sunday November 9, 2014. He was born July 19, 1996 in Bay City, Texas to Efrain Romero and Maria Guadalupe Reyes.

Efrain is survived by his parents; son Anthony Efrain Romero; brother Angel Romero Reyes; paternal grandmother Beatrice Hernandez and maternal grandparents Benito and Alicia Reyes.

The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, November 12 from 1-8pm at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 that evening. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00am Thursday, November 13 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Msgr. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home/Bay City.

Averille Frank Ryman

A Rosary service for Averille Frank Ryman, 91, of Wadsworth, was held at 7:00 PM April 2, 1999 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

 

Funeral Mass was to be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 3 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth, Father Casey officiating. Eulogy was said by Dick “Dicky” Ottis. Burial followed at Cedarvale Cemetery.

 

Mr. Ryman died April 1, 1999, at Seabreeze Nursing Home in Bay City. He was born in Matagorda County February 21, 1908, to Nolan Ryman and Martha Miller.

 

Mr. Ryman is survived by his wife, Elsie Ryman of Wadsworth; sons and daughters-in-law, Alfred and Kimberly Ryman of Wadsworth, Leroy and Terri Ryman of Wadsworth, Melvin and Carol Ryman of Wadsworth, Albert and Laurie Ryman of Bay City, and Louis and Shelly Ryman of Bay City; grandchildren, Venus Ryman, Frankie Ryman, Toby Ryman, LeAnn Ryman, Sara Martin, James Ryman, Clayton Ryman, Christine Ryman, Vanessa Ryman, Rebecca Saha, Tonya Ryman, Aaron Ryman, Kacie Ryman, Kristen Ryman, Jeremy Ryman, and Dawn Bagley; great grandchildren, Ashton Martin, Khole Ryman, Destiny Ray, and Mattie Ryman; and nephew, John Ryman, Jr. of Bay City. He was preceded in death by his son, Eugene (Peewee) Ryman.

 

Pallbearers will be Frankie Ryman, Toby Ryman, Clayton Ryman, John Abshier, Henry Katzer, and Loddie Barkvosky. Honorary pallbearers will be James Ryman, Aaron Ryman, and Jeremy Ryman.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Wadsworth. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Elsie Clara Ryman
(September 6, 1924 - January 10, 2013)

Elsie Clara Ryman, 88, of Wadsworth passed away January 10, 2013. She was born September 6, 1924 in Meyersville, TX to the late Peter Hahn and Rosie Hadamek Hahn. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth.

Her husband Averille Frank Ryman and son Eugene Ryman preceded her in death. Survivors include sons Leroy Ryman of Wadsworth, Alfred Ryman of Wadsworth, Melvin Ryman & wife Carol of Wadsworth, Albert Ryman & wife Laurie of Bay City and Louis Ryman & wife Shelly of Bay City; brothers Alfred Hahn August Hahn Felix Hahn, Louie Hahn & Stanley Hahn; sisters Regina Ibrom, Albina Skloss & Gertrude Katzer; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until 1:30 PM Saturday, January 12, 2013. Mass will be 3:00 PM Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wadsworth with Rev. Greg Korenek officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers will be Clayton Ryman, Toby Ryman, Aaron Ryman, James Ryman, Jeremy Ryman and Keith Martin.
