Emmett Patrick Fagan Jr., 59, of Bay City are scheduled for 1 p. m. Friday, Nov. 25, 1994 with Msgr. James Brunner officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery.

Mr. Fagan was born July 31, 1935, to Emmett P. Fagan and Josie O’Riley in Refugio and died Nov. 23, 1994, at Seabreeze Nursing Home.

A resident of Bay City since 1968, he was a longtime oilfield consultant for Ottis Drilling. He was also a U. S. Army veteran and a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Leslee Fagan Young and Jay Young of Katy and Dana Chaney Frasier and husband Robert Frasier of Bay City; a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kathy Chaney of Anchorage, Alaska; seven grandchildren, Lori, Kelli and Jessica, all of Anchorage, Ryan and Kristen Frasier of Bay City and Joshua and Cameron Young of Bay City.

Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Kuhns, Mark Brune, Steve Holland and George West.

Mr. Gann died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000 in Bay City. He was born Sept. 11, 1916 in Lufkin, Texas to Trevathen and Emma Dunn Gann.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Mary Alice Gann, 87, of Bay City, died February 12, 2005 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

She was born October 23, 1917 in Slidell, LA to the late T.F. and Mamie Cancienne Laiche. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a resident of Bay City since 1960.

Survivors include: sons, Jack Gann of Rye, TX, David Gann of Inez, TX, and Dennis Gann of Houston, TX; grandchildren: Darren Gann, Connon Gann, Darrell Gann, Stephen Gann, Eric Gann, Cheryll Grafton, Amy Gann, and Jennifer Rivera; great-grandchildren: Wayne Gann, Walker Gann, Scarlett Rivera, Tyler Grafton, Megan Grafton, Christine Vickers, Michelle Vickers, Cameron Gann and Parson Gann.

Rosary will be 7:30 PM Sunday, February 13, 2005, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, and the Funeral Mass will be 2:00 PM Monday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Guerra officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Calvin Holton

Funeral services for Calvin Holton, 65, of Bay City will be held 10 a. m. Friday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Mike Mercer officiating. Burial will be at Cedarvale Cemetery, Bay City.

Mr. Holton was born July 15, 1927 in Lee County to John Franklin Holton and Beatrice Pricer Holton and he died Dec. 9, 1992 at Matagorda General Hospital.

He was a resident of Bay City since the early 1940s and he served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. Mr. Holton was a millwright and a member of Local 2232 for 44 years. He was employed for many years in Brazoria County.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Harold and Diana Holton, Steve and Gayle Holton, all of Van Vleck; a sister and brother-in-law, Daisy and S. A. Welch of Lexington; a brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Johnnie Holton of Lexington; four grandchildren, Sara and John Holton of Van Vleck and Kyle and Chris Holton of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; two special friends, Hilda Kubena of El Campo and Sue Crammer of Bay City; four aunts, Emmie Rodgers of Lexington, Winnie Bean and Idell Holloway of Bay City and Loree Taylor of Tanglewood and two uncles, Johnny Pricer of Waco and Milton Pricer of Lake Jackson.

Pallbearers will be Shorty Ashton, Martel Mayhew, Brock Sneed, Charlie Teutsch, Bunyan Thompson and Ray Pawlosky.

Mrs. Holton was born Dec. 6, 1928, to James C. Byrd and Susie E. Quinn Byrd in Robinson County and died Jan. 17, 1992, at Matagorda General Hospital.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Diane Holton of Sugar Valley; her sons, Gayle and Steve Holton of Van Vleck; her sons, Gayle and Steve Holton of Van Vleck; a brother, J. C. Byrd of Bay City; five sisters, Ada Hoover of Tomball, Ida Bullock of the Woodlands, Hettie Thompson and Nettie Mayhew of Bay City and Edna McDaniel of Tomball; four grandchildren, Sarah and John Holton of Van Vleck and Kyle and Chris Holton of Nashville, Tenn; and ex-husband, Calvin Holton of Bay City.

Pallbearers were Richie Mayhew, Neil Holloway, Marshall Holloway, Lyn Pickens, Ray Pawlosky and Brock Steed.

Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth Byrd and Buddy Kirsh.

Velda Ibach

Funeral services for Mrs. J. A. “Vic” Ibach will be held 3 p. m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Dugger and the Rev. Bill Haskell officiating. Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery.

Mrs. Ibach was born in Colorado to Albert A. and Martha Allen Delong Stephens and died Sept. 8, 1987, at Matagorda General Hospital.

Devoted to her church and community, Mrs. Ibach had been a dedicated civic worker since moving to Bay City in 1947.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church where she served on the Altar Guild and Heritage Committee. She had been the honorary director of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority since its first year in organization in Bay City and a charter member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Ibach was an active supporter of the Matagorda County Fair and Livestock Show and was a member of the executive committee of the association.

She was an officer in the Bay City Order of Eastern Star Chapter 380 and a 20 year member of the Matagorda County Historical Commission. She was also a member of the Bay City Country Club, Study Club and Book Review Club.

Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Isle and Gene Cunnius and a brother and sister-in-law, Burl and Lucille Stephens, all of Cheyenne, Wyo., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers include Malcolm Romine, Vic Ashbrook, Gary Glover, Wade Ashcraft, Lucian Vautrain and William Townsend.

She was preceded in death in 1966 by her husband, Jerry Ibach.

Memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.

Mrs. Evelyn Johnson, 61, of Bay City died at Matagorda General Hospital May 26. She taught school for 18 years in the BCISD. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, TSTA, N. E. A., Retired Teachers Association and Community Concert. She was a member of 6th Street Church of Christ. Survivors include: sons, Donald Wayne of Jennings, La., Thomas Dudley of Bay City, Ernest Lester of Houston and Sterling Allen of Lake Jackson; four grandchildren. The funeral will be held at the Sixth Street Church of Christ Thursday, May 29 at 4 p. m. with the Rev. Allen Brown of the El Campo Church of Christ and Sam Kitching of the Sixth Street Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be at Cedarvale Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Dick R. A Generation of BCISD Students Will Remember

Mrs. Evelyn Johnson, 61, retired Bay City Independent School District teacher of 18 years, died yesterday at Matagorda General Hospital.

Born in Bay City in 1918, Mrs. Johnson lived and was active in the area for many years.

Belonging to the Retired Teachers Association, she retired one year ago in May. She was a member of the Texas State Teachers Association, National Education Association and taught at Cherry Elementary, Tenie Holmes Elementary and Linnie Roberts Elementary Schools.

She served as president of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority in 1974-76 and belonged to Community Concert Association.

Mrs. Johnson taught adult and children Sunday School classes at the Sixth Street Church of Christ, where she was a member. She was coordinator of the Junior Department and a member of the educational committee.

She was the daughter of Donald M. and Minnie RImmer who were lifetime residents of the Bay City-Sweeny area. Survivors of Mrs. Johnson include her sons, Donald Wayne, Thomas Dudley, Ernest Lester and Sterling Allen and four grandchildren.

Sadie Hill Lawrence

Sadie Hill Lawrence, 90, of Richmond, Texas died August 2,2004 at Polly Ryan Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

She was born December 31, 1913 in Huntington, Texas. She was a resident of Bay City since 1937 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bay City.

She also was a faithful member of the Bay City Chapter of the Order of the Easter Star No. 380 and a charter member of the Bay City Chapter of the Social Order of Bociants (wives of Knight Templar Commandery).

She also was a member of the Board of The Rainbows No. 119, where her daughters were very active.

Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie and Thomas Felder of Victoria, and Joyce and Sam Steffee of Richmond; brother, Jack Hill and wife Gloria of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Darrell Felder and Dianne Felder, Denise Robinson, Donna Henry, Sarah Niermeyer and husband Tom, Cathy Fiser and husband Robb, and David Steffee; great- grandchildren, Lauren and Robert Felder, Jesse Iiams, Jack, Megan, Sadie Niermeyer, and Lilly Fiser; also by Laine Felder, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Lawrence.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2004, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Key officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

George Walter Morte, Sr.
November 28, 1913 – October 8, 1998

Funeral services for George Walter Morte, Sr., 84, of Lake Jackson, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, October 12, 1998, at Sixth Street Church of Christ in Bay City, Joe Wrape officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Morte died Thursday, October 8, after being involved in a bicycle-car accident. He died at the Brazoria Community Hospital in Lake Jackson. He was born November 28, 1913, in Hamilton Ontario, Canada.

He worked for Vickers, Inc. Hydraulics. After Morte’s retirement he was a consultant for the company. He was a member of the Bay City Sixth Street Church of Christ, a member of Brazoria County Modlers (Airplane Club), and was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

Morte is survived by his wife, Rose Lee Morte of Lake Jackson; son and daughter-in-law, George Morte, Jr. and Pamela of Bay City; daughter, Lynn Moline of Brazoria; six grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are his grandsons, Buddy Moline, Hobby Moline, Trey Morte, Todd Morte, Scott Griffin, and Sherman Griffin.

Memorials may be given to the Sixth Street Church of Christ Building Fund.

Rosa Lee Morte, 94, of Bay City passed away Friday July 11, 2008 at the Matagorda Nursing and Rehab Center in Bay City.

Mrs. Morte was born in Dallas, Texas on March 15, 1914 to parents John and Nell Boren Dorman.

She was a long-time resident of Lake Jackson before moving to Bay City and was preceded in death by her husband George W. Morte, Sr.

She is survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, George Jr. and Pam Morte of Bay City; and a daughter, Lynn Moline of Brazoria and grandchildren, Bud Moline, Robert and Pili Moline, Jeanne Moline, Christy Griffin, Trey and Renea Morte, Todd and Donale Morte, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday July 14, 2008 at Taylor Bros. Chapel with the Rev. Larry Macomber officiating.

Visitation will begin Monday morning at Taylor Bros.

Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery with Cameron Smith, Ethan Morte, Josh Lugo, Bud Moline, Trey Morte, and Sherman Griffin serving as Pallbearers.

Donald A. Nisich, Sr., 59, of Bay City, passed away March 11, 1996, at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

 

He was born March 12, 1936, in San Francisco, California to Anthony Joseph and Elanore Marie Budde Nisich. He was a member of the Catholic Church, a member of the American Legion Post #345 in Austin, Texas, and had been a resident of Bay City since 1979.

 

He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Rollings Nisich of Bay City; by his step-father, Fred Lunch of Twenty Nine Palms, California; by two daughters, Cindy McCauley of Sugarland, Texas and Crystal Martinez of Ft. Raleigh, Kansas; by three sons, Donald Nisich, Jr. and Tony Nisich both of Williamsburg, Virginia, and Steve Johnson of Connecticut; by one sister, Leslie Malec of Ocean Side, California; by three brothers, Fred Lunch, Jr. of Alaska, Fetch Lunch of Europe, and Bruce Lunch of Riverside, California; and by five grandchildren.

 

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00PM Friday, March 15, 1995, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Dan Villereal and Deacon Luan Van Tran officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Mr. Pustejovsky was born April 22, 1925, in Wallis, Texas, to Joseph and Julia Ann Peterek Pustejovsky and died Jan. 26, 1990, at Veterans Administration Hospital, Houston.

A resident of Bay City for 18 years, he was a life member of VFW Post 2438 and Holy Cross Catholic Church

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Pustejovsky of Bay City; two daughters, Nelta Ruth Rojas of Cypress, Texas, and Julie Ann Elliott of Bay City; a son, Andrew Leonard Pustejovsky of Klein, Texas; three sisters, Emma Yanero of Leander, Texas, Anna Parks of Newberry, Calif., and Lillie Repka of Wallis; a brother, Benny Pustejovsky of Nacogdoches; and three grandchildren, Chase Allen Elliott of Bay City, Sara Katherine and Heather Emillya Pustejovsky of Klein.

Mrs. Reese was born July 12, 1937, in Weinnert, Texas, and died April 28, 1989, at the Naval Hospital, Oakland, Calif.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tracy and Karla Reese of Bastrop, a daughter and son-in-law, Arleen and Mark Federico of Austin; two brothers, Tommy and Lester Holsey of Sweetwater; a sister, Maxine Hemingway of Temple, Maine; and seven grandchildren.

Basil Frank “Rip” Schulz

June 24, 1915 – January 17, 1999

 

Funeral services for Basil Frank “Rip” Schulz will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 19, 1999, at First Presbyterian Church, Rev. Sam Steele officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. The family received visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 PM January 18 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

 

Schulz died Sunday, January 17, 1999, in Texas City, where he was a resident for the past several years. He was born June 24, 1915, in Normangee, Texas, the son of Otto and Annie Schulz.

 

Schulz was a life member of the Masonic Lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star, and a 32nd degree Shriner. As a Matagorda rice farmer he was named “Farmer of the Year,” and in October of 1998 he was named as “Distinguished Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City.”

 

Schulz is survived by: daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and James Mote of Santa Fe, Texas, and Debbie and Wayne Wilson of Cabot, Arkansas; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Ann Schulz of Pearland and Harvey and Tommie Schulz of Boerne; grandchildren, Jim and Vicki Mote, Frank and Lynette Mote, John Mote, Jill and Axel Essbaum, Jay Schulz, Sara and Jeff Koegh, Susan Schulz, Ryan Wilson, and Ethan Wilson; great grandchildren, Kacie Lynn Mote, Mark Mote, Matt Mote, Jennie Brown, Garret Miller, and Montana Mote; and step grandchildren, Jason Whitehead, D. J. and Jessica Banik. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Callaway Schulz in 1996.

P. “Rip” Schulz of Bay City; by two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and James Mote of Alvin, Texas, and Deborah Sue and Wayne Wilson of Friendswood, Texas; by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Ann Schulz of Manvel, Texas, and Harvey and Tommie Schulz of Plano, Texas; by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Catholic church.

Rodolfo “Rudy” Trevino, 55, of Van Vleck, surrounded by his family, went to be with our Lord on May 2, 2011.

Rudy was born to the late Marcelo G. Trevino and Maria V. Trevino on April 24, 1956 at La Tina Ranch. He is a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Bay City, TX and founder of Rudy T Carpentry.

His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Pearl Rodriguez Trevino of Van Vleck; and three children: Wynette L. He is also survived by four sisters and two brothers: Maria T. Quesada (Antonio) from San Antonio, Irene Trevino from Angleton, Elisa T. Cisneros (Jesus) from Sweeny, TX and Ester T. Hernandez (Cesar) from Victoria, TX, Marcelo V. Trevino III (Rosalina) from Bay City, and Leonel Trevino (Laura) from Van Vleck, TX

Pallbearers will be Rodolfo Trevino Jr., Curtis Kemmerling, Marcelo V. Trevino III, Leonel Trevino, Johnny Rodriguez, and Roy M. Rodriguez.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandsons: Angelo Zamora and Adrian Trevino Lopez.

Rest in peace my beloved husband.

The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday and from 10:30 am to 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm Wednesday, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 10:00 am at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with Father Gerry Cernoch officiating.

Graveside services will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Nellie P. Woods, 92, of Bay City passed away Jan. 12, 2009. She was born Feb. 24, 1916 in Matagorda to the late Edgar & Annie Yeamans Dunbar.

Her husbands Robert Broussard and Henry Woods both preceded her in death as well as brothers E. L. “Buck” Dunbar, Norbert Keith “Kessie” Dunbar and Richard Raymond Dunbar and sister Dorothy M. Guzzo. Survivors include daughters Betty Huffman of Bay City and Annie Elliott & husband Kenneth of Bay City; step-son Delbert Woods of Cuero; sister Patsy Wright of San Carlos, CA; grandchildren Robert Huffman, Michael Huffman, Christina Elliott, Kenneth Elliott, Jr. and 10 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009 at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City with Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Grandsons Robert Huffman, Michael Huffman, Kenneth Elliott, Daniel Huffman, Joshua Huffman and Anthony Elliott will serve as pallbearers.

ANGLETON - Mamie S. Zboral, 73, of Angleton and formerly of Bay City, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004.

She was born Dec. 24, 1930, in Edna, to the late Camelino and Gila Garcia Suniga. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Survivors: daughters, Ofelia Zboral, Stella Guzman, Rose Chavez, and Alice Zboral, all of Houston; Joann Guanajuato of Angleton, and Dianna Cruz of Markham; son, Joe Zboral Jr. of Hamilton; sisters, Lupe Magna and Faustina Leal, both of Bay City, Tommie Pacheco of Fort Oak, N.C., and Santos Estrada of Pasadena; brother, Antonio Suniga of Bay City; 21 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: sister, Margaret Yanes; and brother, Victor Suniga.

A rosary was recited 7 p.m. Wednesday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the Rev. Jerry Cernoch officiating.

Burial will be at Cedarvale Cemetery. Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City, 979-245-4613.

Pallbearers: Gabriel Belmarez, Wallace Montalvo Jr., Roy Chavez Jr., Max Guanajuato III, John Garcia Jr., and Albert Garcia.
