Demis Esther Everline Fisher Mangum

March 31, 1877 – September 22, 1912

For the second time today, it becomes the painful duty of the Tribune to chronicle the death of another one of our people and to give the last and parting words to one more dear one who has gone to join the countless dead.

Mrs. Demis Esther Elizabeth Mangum died yesterday (Sunday) at 12:15 PM at her home in this city, after an illness of two weeks’ duration, surrounded by her family and friends, who did all that human hands and willing hearts could do to bring her back to life, health and happiness.

Mrs. Mangum, who was the wife of our esteemed fellow-townsman, R. E. Mangum, was in her 35th year, and up to her late illness was the picture of health. Possessed with a lovable spirit of buoyancy, a strong Christian character and a host of friends, Mrs. Mangum found much in life and imbued all with whom she associated with a love for the beautiful and good. Her’s was indeed a life well worth emulating and one which will be by those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Mrs. Mangum leaves a husband, a family of children, brothers and sisters and her mother. Her mother is Mrs. A. D. Fisher; brothers, Sidney, Grant and Henry; sisters, Mrs. J. B. Lee, Mrs. W. R. Jeter and Mrs. James Delk, to whom the sympathy of the entire community is extended.

The funeral of this splendid type of great womanhood took place this afternoon in Cedarvale before a large concourse of sorrowing friends and heart-broken relatives.

The Tribune’s deepest and most sincere sympathy goes out to the kind and loving husband and motherless children.
