Floyd G. Reed

Funeral services for Floyd G. Reed, 71, of Markham were held 2 p. m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Markham with the Revs. Howard Harper and Joe Ramsey officiating. Burial was at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Mr. Reed was born Nov. 18, 1921 in West Columbia to Edgar Guss and Ruby Star Reed and died March 25, 1993 at Matagorda General Hospital.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Markham and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Nola Reed of Markham; his mother, Ruby Starr Reed of Bay City; a daughter, Lana Denise Ramsey of Palacios; two sons, Wendell F. Reed of Markham and Randall L. Reed of Houston; two sisters, Dorothy Walker and Anita Davis, both of Bay City; a brother, Joe Vernon Reed of Bay City; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Reed, in 1989 and a brother, Lloyd Reed, in 1984.

Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City.

Nola Reed, 83, of Markham, Texas, passed away on October 22, 2005, at the Legacy.

She was born February 20, 1922, in Fayetteville, Texas, to the late Louis and Minna Marburger Menking.

Mrs. Reed was a 50-year-plus resident of Markham.

She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Markham and taught Sunday School for many years.

Mrs. Reed was a loving wife and mother and was always providing love, support and care to others.

Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Joe Ramsey of Markham; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wendell and Lisa Reed and Randall Reed, all of Markham, Texas; sister, Orenell Reed of Edna, Texas; grandchildren, Rachel Rush and husband Louis of Palacios, Lisa Sexton and husband Kenny of Markham, Kelly Sanders and husband Doug of Brenham, Texas, and Lauren Reed and Chelsea Reed, both of Orlando, Florida; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua and Hannah Rush and Tanner and Taylor Sexton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Gus Reed.

Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2005, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Joe E. Ramsey and the Rev. Louis Wayne Rush officiating.

Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Charles Unger, Ray Fitzgerald, Clyde Davis, Gary Davis, C.W. Rush and Jerry Lundquist.
