Michael Montoya Sr., of Houston, Texas died May 29, 2003 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was born October 7, 1958 in Bay City.

He worked for the Harris County Clerk office for 25 years. He was a member of El Buen Pastor Presbyterian Church in Bay City.

Survivors include: wife, Maria Montoya; daughter, Jaclyn Montoya; sons, Michael Montoya, Jr., Pete Montoya; step-daughter, Sofia Melendez all of Houston; mother, Esther Lopez of Bay City; sisters, Esther Anzaldua of Lane City; Eva Guzman of Texas City; Elva Mendiola of Houston, Irma and Liz Montoya of Angleton; brother, Don Montoya, Jr. of North Carolina, Johnny Montoya of Las Vegas, Nevada.

He was preceded in death by: father, Don Montoya, Sr.; sister Emma Landriaul; brother, Sammy Montoya.

Don A. Montoya Sr., 69, passed away on Wednesday January 30, 2002. He was born September 6, 1932.

Mateo Morales Sr.

Mateo Morales, Sr., 95, of Bay City died March 11, 2003 at his residence. He was born September 21, 1907 in Cuero, TX to the late Bartolo and Genoveva Suniga Morales. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a resident of Bay City since 1943.

Survivors include: 2 daughters and a son-in-law: Joyce and Thomas Flores and Sarah Garza; 2 sons and a daughter-in-law: Salvador and Solia Morales and Matt Morales, all of Bay City; sisters: Guadalupe Vela and Cecilia Chavez, both of Houston; brothers: Camino Morales of San Antonio, Frank X. Morales of Victoria, Abel Morales of Freer and Roger Morales of California; grandchildren: Abel, Katy, Michael, Roland, Martin, Audrey, and Christopher Morales, Grace Gonzalez, Emma Rodriguez, Carlos and Julio Garza, Tommy and James Flores, and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Rafela Morales.

Rosary will be 7:00 PM Friday, March 14, 2003, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home and the Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Gerard Cernock officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Michael Morales, Martin Morales, Michael Gonzalez, Carlos Garza, Tommy Flores, and Christopher Morales.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his great grandchildren.

Rafela Morales

Rafela Morales, 86, of Bay City, passed away December 28, 2001. She was born August 28, 1915 in Flatonia, Texas, to Andres Lopez and Luia Martinez Lopez.

She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Mateo Morales, Sr. of Bay City; her sons: Salvador Morales and Matt Morales of Bay City; by her daughters: Sarah Garza and Joyce Flores, both of Bay City; and by 13 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Lucia Lopez; by her sisters: San Juana Rodriguez, Alice Ramirez and Maria Leal; and by her brothers: John Lopez, Santiago Lopez, and Manuel Lopez.

A Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001 at Taylor Bros Funeral Chapel.

The Funeral Mass was at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholilc Church with Rev. Edward Boren officiating. Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Pallbearers were Martin Morales, Michael Morales, Chris Morales, Tommy Flores, Carlos Garza, and Michael Ryan Gonzalez. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A00011A2001JA03

Funeral services for Fred Muniz of Cuero were held at the Latin-American Catholic Church Tuesday with Father Shannon of Wharton officiating.

Mr. Muniz died Monday in the John Sealy Hospital in Galveston at the age of 36 years.

Taylor Brothers were in charge of arrangements.

A memorial service for Shirley Jane Nelson, age 71, of Hartselle, formerly of Bay City, Texas who died Friday, October 3, 2008 at Summerford Nursing Home, Falkville, Alabama will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Bay City, with entombment following in Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City, Texas, with Mike Zimmerman officiating.

Shirley was born August 28, 1937 in Texas to William E. Matlock and Mabel (McGinley) Matlock. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hartselle, Alabama and former member of the First Baptist Church in Bay City, Texas. She graduated from Olden high School in Olden, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Carroll Lee Nelson, Sr.; her son, Carroll Lee Nelson, Jr.; and a brother, Thomas Matlock.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Summerford Nursing Home for their love and care of Shirley during the last months of her life.

She is survived by: a son, Timothy Scott Nelson and wife, Jeni of Hartselle; daughter-in-law, Lizabeth Nelson, Frisco, Texas; sister, Peggy Langston, North Richland Hills, Texas; sister, Geneva Schuhsler of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law, Nicky Jones of Van Vleck, Texas; five grandchildren, Carroll Nelson III, Colin Nelson, Mallory Nelson, Taylor Scott Nelson and Joseph Nelson.

Peck Funeral Home, Hartselle, Alabama are handling local arrangements.
