Dolores Perez, 93, of Bay City passed away March 31, 2009. She was born Sept. 15, 1915 in Beaumont, Texas and was a lifelong resident of Bay City.
 

She was preceded in death by her husband Rosalio Perez; sisters Cayetana Guanajuato & Zolia Barron; brothers Joe Lozano & Carmel Lozano and sons-in-law, John Perez & Joe Alaniz. Survivors include daughters Mary Perez of Victoria, Modesta Davalos (Timoteo) of Markham, Marcella Guerrero (Frank) of Houston, Janie O’canas (Joe) of Markham, Faustina Alaniz of West Lake, LA, Rose Gutierrez (Candy) of Sweeny, Mona Ordonez (Paz) of Clute, Nat Garcia (Erasmo) of Pasadena, TX & Helen Mirelez (Morris) of Bay City; sons Pedro Perez (Rosie) of Markham and George Perez (Margaret) of Bay City; sister Mary Louise Rodriguez of Markham; brother Paul Lozano of Bay City and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

 

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Wednesday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Mass will be 10:00 AM Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paz Ordonez, Jr., Eddie Garcia, Jr., Martin Mirelez, Nick Gutierrez, Ponce Perez, Joe Alaniz, Jr., Chris Davalos, Sr. and Felix Perez.

Doyle Alexander Perry

Doyle Alexander Perry, 53, of Bay City died October 7, 2003 at his residence in Bay City. He was born February 27, 1950 in Ringgold, Georgia to the late James and Hilda Perry. Mr. Perry was a member of the Baptist Church and a resident of Bay City since 1981.

Survivors include: two sons, Stephen Bradford Perry and Christopher Ryan Perry both of Austin; one grandson, Stephen Bradford Perry, Jr. of Bay City; sisters Jean Creekmore and Darlene Luttrell both of Apison, Tennessee; and brothers Leon Perry of Ringgold, Georgia and Charles Perry of Dalton, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his brother Roger Headrick.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 10, 2003 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Arrangements were with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City.

Virginia Garcia-Pettit, 53, was called home on May 14, 2012.

She was born December 19, 1958, in Bay City, Texas to Amos and Bertha M. Garcia.

Virginia was an avid gardener, and loved her dog Tater. She lived in Texas, New York, Oregon, Washington and California.

Virginia is survived by: her loving husband of 24 years, Ron Pettit; three sons, Mark, Michael and wife Brooke, and Matt; three grandsons, Peyton, Carter, and Hunter; in-laws, Ron and Betty Pettit; six siblings, Sylvia Yeats and husband David of League City, Helen Raziuddin of Houston, Tencha Deckard and husband Buddy of Texas City, Robert Garcia and wife Gerri of Bay City, Tony Garcia and wife Mary of Bay City, and Mary Esther Hopf and husband Tim of Friendswood.

Her parents and her brother, Edward Emilio Garcia, preceded her in death.

The family will receive visitors from 5 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rosary being recited at 6:30 p.m. Mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Casey Jarzombek officiating.

Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Cynthia Ann Petter Phillips
Jan. 12, 1956 – Nov. 2, 2012

Cynthia Ann Petter Phillips, 56, of Bay City went to be with her Lord and Savior after a six-year battle with pancreatic cancer on Friday, November 2, 2012.

She was born January 12, 1956 in El Campo to Otto and Virginia Jalufka Petter.

Cynthia was a loving and dedicated wife and loved her children, grandchildren, family and friends more than they knew. She cared deeply for her Church family on Nichols Street and was saddened as she became less involved with church activities and projects, especially the Thursday afternoon games at Elaine’s house.

Cynthia loved the outdoors in many ways, including fishing, hunting and gardening. When she could not get outdoors, she enjoyed painting, arts and crafts and cooking. Cynthia also kept her husband of 39 years and 10 months well supplied with hunting and fishing gear and many tools that he did not know he would need for those projects around the house.

Cynthia will be greatly missed, but through the Grace Of Jesus Christ we will meet again in a far better place.

She is survived by: her husband, David Elmer Phillips of Bay City; mother, Virginia Petter of El Campo; daughter, Sandra Phillips of Lubbock; son David and Renne Phillips of West Columbia; two brothers, Douglas and Marsha Petter of Bay City and Thomas and Ann Petter of Spicewood, Texas; nine grandchildren, David Ricks, Heather, Audrey, and D. J. Pietre, Amber, Brianna, Ava, Samuel, and David Phillips II.

Her father, Otto Petter preceded Cynthia in death.

The family will receive visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Nichols St. Church of Christ with Bro. Larry Macomber officiating.

Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Pat Jurek, Bob Long, Bill Rawlings, Ralph Rawlings, Duane Ryman and Doug Davis.

Joe Pineda

Joe Pineda, 68, a lifelong resident of Bay City, TX went to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Narcisa Alameda.

Joe is survived by his best friend and companion, Linda Ramirez, Bay City, TX; sisters, Delores (Joe) Herrera, Houston, TX and Rachel (Roger) Ramirez, Van Vleck, TX; and brothers, Abel (Annelie) Tamez, San Antonio, TX and Michael (Melissa) Longoria, Bay City, TX. He also leaves behind an extended number of nieces and nephews.

Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army and attended Texas A & M University. He enjoyed fishing and listening to old country music. He was a truck driver until his retirement and enjoyed sharing stories of his experiences. His greatest passion, though, was people. He was loved by many and was a friend to everyone. He always said “ I never meet a stranger” and it was true. He will be greatly missed by his family and many, many friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Aletha Platt 72, of Bay City died December 1, 2005 at the Methodist Hospital in Houston. She was born October 16, 1933 in Monroe, LA to the late Earl Terry, Sr and Iris Vivian Triplett Williams. Mrs. Platt was a resident of Bay City for the past 46 years and was a beautician.

Survivors include:3 daughters and sons-in-law: Sandra & J. L. “Butch” Cashion of Bay City, Gloria & Mark Berger of Corpus Christi, TX, and Suzanne Platt and Ricky Rodriguez of Bay City; son: Quincy Platt of NC; sisters: Rachael Day & Betty Branch both of West Monroe, LA; brothers: Billy Williams, Earl T. Williams, Jr. And Tommy Williams all of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren: Nathan Cashion & wife Martha of Bay City, SR. Airman Philip Carr serving in the US AirForce in Iraq, Ashley Carr of Corpus Christie, Chad Hoosier of Waco, TX; and 1 great grandson: Cole Cashion of Bay City. She was preceded in death by her son: Brad Platt; and sisters: Frances Gryder and Kathleen West.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Webbon officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Taylor Bros. Saturday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Ray Polosky, Dalton “Dee” Clements, Matthew Ludwig, Jimmy Sansing, Brackston Nutt, Nathan Cashion and Chad Hossier. Funeral services for Bettye Jean Frida Richardson Pollard 69, of Bay City, Texas will be Friday January 17, 2003 at 1 p.m. at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. L. C. Cunningham Jr, officiating.

Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City, Texas. Mrs. Pollard will lie in state at the church Friday from 12 noon until 12:45.

Visitation will be Thursday, at Green's Mortuary from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Bettye Jean was born to Elijah and Bessie Richardson in Bay City, Texas on December 31, 1933. She passed away on Friday January 10, 2003 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City, Texas.

Her working career was done in three different independent school districts, which are Angleton, El Campo and finally she retired from Tidehaven. She was a member of the African American Historical Society and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father Bessie and Elijah Richardson, her husband Dallas Pollard, and her three sisters Helen, Ethel Mae, and Dorothy Marie.

She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter Anna C. Pettus and husband Billy of Bay City, Texas; three sons, Robert L. Littleton III of Houston, Texas, Desi D. Littleton and wife Pamela of Bay City, Texas and Quintin Littleton and wife Candy of Manvel, Texas; seven grandchildren Robert, Elijah, Jermaine, Trinia, Terica, Rajnan ( RaRa) and Leticia; five grandchildren Brenishia, Tahya, Robert, Devon, and Rashad, three aunts Claudia Sauceda of Bay City, Martha Johnson of Philadelphia, Selita Sauceda of Houston, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and an abundance of relatives and special friends.

Active pallbearers Gerald Vidal, Nathaniel Dorsey, Elijah Littleton, Paul Wiggins, Melvin Lott, Bouvier Dale, Thomas Young.

Margarita Cervantes Quintanilla

Margarita Cervantes Quintanilla, 93, of Bay City, passed away Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000. She was born Feb. 7, 1907 in Goliad, Texas, to Reyes and Anita Cervantes. She was a lifelong resident of Bay City and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Rosa Montalbo, Josefina Gomez and Sophia Valdez, all of Bay City; her sons, Ignacio Quintanilla and Florentino Quintanilla of Bay City and Nicolas Quintanilla of Van Vleck; 42 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Prajedes Quintanilla; her parents, Reyes and Anita Quintanilla, and two daughters, Juanita Montalbo and Marcella Gonzales.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Edward Boren officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Christopher Joseph Radley, 28, of Bay City passed away January 2, 2012. He was born September 1, 1983 in Rifle, Colorado to Charles Everett Radley, Jr. and Maria Feliciana Lozada Ruiz Radley. He was an avid tennis player, swimmer and gamer. He loved visiting with friends and traveling. He proudly served in the US Navy from 2002 until 2006 where he was an Expert Rifleman. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

He is survived by his parents: Charles and Maria Radley; 2 sisters: Jeri Patterson and Frith Foutenot both of Denham Springs, Louisiana; 2 brothers: Donnie Radley of Pearland and Evan Radley of Bay City; grandparents: Bob & Connie Cheline; step-grandmother: Sue Radley; and several nieces and nephews. Christopher was preceded in death by his grandfather: Charles Radley Sr.

A rosary was recited at 6:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Mass will be 2:00 PM Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers were: Evan Radley, Matt Brown, Viral Bhakta, Ritesh Bhakta, Juan Morales, and Richard Houston.
