Collegeport, founded in 1908, will celebrate its 71st anniversary Saturday, May 26.
This annual event is sponsored by the Woman’s Club of Collegeport with the cooperation of the community.
Collegeport’s annual homecoming is celebrated each year on the last Saturday in May. It is a day when residents, former residents, their families and friends get together at the Mopac to enjoy dinner, renew acquaintances, discuss old times and make new friends.
Barbecue with all the trimmings will be served at noon. The meat will be provided but you are asked to bring a covered dish to be served with the barbecue.

Collegeport will observe its 71st birthday Saturday when its annual homecoming celebration is held.
This annual event, sponsored by the Collegeport Woman’s Club with the cooperation of all the people of the community, is held at the Mopac House.
A covered dish dinner will be served at noon. Barbecue will be provided but you are asked to bring a covered dish that goes well with barbecue.
Collegeport was founded by the Burton D. Hurd Land Company on May 25, 1908, when a tract of land was deeded to W. A. Travis for the building of a college of Industrial Arts and Science.
For more than half a century, Collegeport Day was observed on the 25th of May, but a few years ago the date was changed to the last Saturday in May so that persons living away, or those who worked could attend.
