Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday at the Enterprise Baptist Church of Bay City for Mrs. Willie Mae Clay, 63, of Bay City.

Clay died August 27, 1981 at Matagorda General Hospital.

Officiating at the services will be the Rev. A. H. Pointer

Visitation hours are from 4 to 9 pm at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel and from 1 to 2 pm at the church Monday.

Her survivors are husband, Samuel Clay of Bay City; daughters, Mrs. Arlene West of Dallas, Mrs. Dorothy Johnson of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. Ima Green of Houston; son, Lester Lee Lewis of Taos, Mexico; 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Clay’s church affiliation was Baptist.

Burial will be at the Eastview Cemetery following services.

Active pallbearers are Lance Lewis, Dexter Lewis, James Harris, Andre West, Atwell West and Glenn Brown.

Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Law, Rogers Law, Roy Law, Geney Brown and Malachi Brown Sr.

Osby B. Cole

Things won’t be the same around the Bay City Post Office, after this week’s death of the janitor, Osby Cole, 65, who had served in that capacity for 21 years.  Postmaster Sam Selkirk described Cole as a very capable employee and added “we won’t find a better one.”

The funeral has been slated for 2 pm Sunday at Tyree Chapel, with burial in Eastview Cemetery.  Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Everett Cole, and a brother, Mose Cole, and one sister who resides in Detroit, Michigan.

Cole died in the Veteran’s Hospital at Houston, after intermittent illness for the past three months.

Sterling Mickey Copeland

Sterling Mickey Copeland, 58, of Bay City died at his residence May 26. He was a lifelong resident of Bay City and was employed at Tett’s Jewelry since the age of 18 until his retirement a year ago.  He was World War II veteran, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Duncan Post 850, American Legion and a member of Mother Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lillie Mae Copland of Bay City; two sons, Arthur and Tyderrall Copeland of Bay City; 1 daughter, Debra of Bay City; 6 uncles and 2 aunts; five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am. June 2 at Mother Zion Baptist Church with Rev. L. R. James officiating. Interment will be at the Eastview Cemetery.

Penn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
