Dave "Bob" Paine

Dave "Bob" Paine, 79, of Bay City, died April 14, 1983.

Survivors include sons, Lester I. Paine of Houston, Phillip J. Paine of Austin; sisters, Sophie and Rozelle of Houston; brother, Leon and Blanche of Baytown; Ned and Bess Alpard, Sol and Betty Alpard and Blanche Tuttle of Wharton; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Paine was born in Houston and was a long time resident of Bay City where he owned and operated a grocery store until his retirement. He was a member of the Shearith Israel Synagogue of Wharton, Beth David Center of Bay City and was active in B'Nai Brith.

Those desiring may make contributions to the charity of their choice.

Dorothy Paine Died Early Today

Mrs. Dave (Dorothy) Paine, 66, who has been in partnership with her husband in the Bay City Food Market, died this morning at the St. Luke's Hospital in Houston.

Dorothy and her husband have owned and operated a food market in Bay City for 26 years. He will continue to operate their present business, Bay City Food Market.

Born in Russia April 3, 1909, she was raised in Wharton. A member of the Shearith Israel Synagogue in Wharton, she was quite active in the Hadassah organization and the Shearith Israel Sisterhood. As a member of the Pink Ladies Volunteer Service at the Matagorda General Hospital, she showed great concern for others in her community.

She is survived by her husband, Dave of Bay City; a son, Lester of Sugarland and a son, Phillip of Houston; brothers, Sol and Ned Alpard; sister, Mrs. L. K. Tuttle, all of Wharton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hadassah Medical Organization or a charity of their choice.

Funeral services will be held today, 5:30 p. m. at the Wharton Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Shearith Israel Cemetery in Wharton.

Interment service will be held at the Shearith Israel Cemetery in Wharton. Arrangements are made by the Wharton Funeral Home.
