Funeral services for Trina James, 51, of Bay City, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010, at Bethel Baptist Church, Bay City, with the Rev. L.C. Cunningham, Jr., eulogist. Burial will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery in Pledger.

Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.

She was born September 10, 1958, in Bay City, Texas, to Willie Williams and Lorese Jackson Williams, and passed away July 12, 2010, in Bay City.

Survivors include: one daughter, Olympia Walker (and Roland) of Copperas Cove; one son, Broderick James (and Rachel) of Temple. Also her mother, Lorese Goode (and Willie) of Victoria; five sisters, Laverne Gipson (and Emitt) and Meka Punch (and Patrick), all of Houston, Joyce Davis (and Larry), and Cheryl Thomas (and Larry), all of Bay City, and Roberta Anderson (and Louis) of Freeport; and one brother, Willie Williams, Jr. (and Juanita) of Victoria. Also five grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

Curtis Jones

Funeral services for Curtis Jones, 69, of Pledger, are scheduled for 3 p. m. Saturday at Grove Hill Baptist Church in Pledger with the Rev. Frank Cones officiating. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery in Pledger.

Visitation will be until 9 p. m. Friday at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel.

Mr. Jones was born April 17, 1924 in Wharton to the late Lee and Fredicker James Jones and died Oct. 12, 1993 in the Gulf Coast Medical Center.

Survivors include his former wife, Bernice Jones Anderson of Angleton; two sons, Jesse Ray Jones of Iago and Marvin Jones of Angleton;  two sisters, Ella Washington of Pledger and Dorothy Jackson of Pledger; two granddaughters and other relatives and friends.

Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home in Bay City.

Ganover Matthews

Funeral services for Ganover Matthews, 86, of Pledger, will be held at 1:30 p. m. Sunday at the Grove Hill Baptist Church in Pledger, with the Rev. F. R. Cones officiating. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Pledger.

Visitation was held Friday at the funeral home chapel.

Mrs. Matthews was born August 28, 1900, to Isaac Spencer and Sophie Miles in Pledger and died Jan. 29, 1987, at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton.

She was a longtime resident of the Pledger community and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include one adopted daughter, Mrs. Cora Wilson and one adopted son, Glen McCoy, five grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers will be Charlie Harris, Robert Spradley, Roland Waddy, Jack Greenwood, Raymond Jackson and Herman Spradley.

Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Wilson, Glen McCoy, Leon Krushall Jr., Larry Krushall, Clarence Green and Wayne Spradley.

Arrangements are with Duncan Roberts Funeral Home of Bay City.
