REBURIAL SERVICES WILLIAM MIRANDA TO BE HELD SUNDAY William Miranda, son of Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Miranda, was born in Ruidosa, Texas, on February 2, 1921, and killed in battle in France on September 9, 1944. As a boy he attended Palacios Schools, and the Presbyterian Mission. He answered his country's call in 1943. After two weeks at Fort Sam Houston, he was transferred to Camp Wheeler, Georgia. He went overseas with the 29th Infantry. He passed safely through four engagements, but in his fifth, he was called to make the supreme sacrifice, at the age of 23.
His remains will reach
the Miranda home, 803 Welch Avenue, at 1:30 Sunday afternoon.
Funeral services, with military rites, will be held at the
Presbyterian Mission, corner of Morton and Ninth, at 5:00 with the

Mr. and Mrs. Manuel F. Miranda, 803 Welch, will be honored June 8 when Queen-Hamlin Post 2467, Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, honor Gold Star Parents in a Memorial Service at the Palacios Cemetery. Both Mr. and Mrs. Miranda were born in Cadereyta Jimenez, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and moved to Texas as a young couple. They have lived in Palacios for more than 40 years. They have three sons, William, Arthur and Mario and one daughter, Maria Teresa. William G. Miranda was born Feb. 72, 1921 in Las Russias?, Texas. He attended school at Matagorda and Palacios. William enlisted in the US Army in January 1944. After completing basic training at Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas, he was sent overseas and assigned to 175th Regiment of the 29th Infantry Division. William was killed in action while serving with this Division in Brittney, France Sept. 9, 1944. He was awarded the Silver Star, which is an award for service beyond the call of duty. Funeral services for Salome G. Miranda, 87, of Palacios, will be held 4 p.m. today at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Palacios Cemetery. Mrs. Miranda was born April 28, 1903, to Serafin and Trinidad Cantu Garcia in Monterey, Mexico, and died Dec. 29, 1990, at Wagner General Hospital. A resident of Palacios since 1927, she was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church in Palacios. She is survived by her husband, Manuel F. Miranda of Palacios; two sons, Arthur Miranda of Freeport and Mario Miranda of Palacios; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home, Palacios. Funeral services for Manuel Miranda, 95, of Palacios will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Palacios Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tony Flores officiating. Burial will follow at the Palacios Cemetery. A rosary will be held 7 p.m. today at the Palacios Funeral Chapel. Mr. Miranda was born Aug. 9, 1895, in Monterrey, Mexico, and died Feb. 5, 1991, at Matagorda General Hospital. He was a resident of Palacios since 1927 and a member of the Catholic church. He is survived by his two sons, Arthur Miranda of Freeport and Mario Miranda of Palacios; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
