BAY CITY - Gene Moore, 67, of Bay City, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004.

He was born Aug. 22, 1936, in Markham, to the late Arthur Moore and Vella Harrison Morgan.

Survivors: daughter, Rica Bree of Cedar Lane; sisters, Mary Lee Roberts of Houston, and Eddie Steve Dunbar and Bobbie Eaton, both of Bay City; brothers, Gifford Morgan and Willie Courtney, both of Houston, Eugene Moore of Wharton, and Theodore Medina of Bay City; and one granddaughter.

Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, the Revs. James Ashton Jr. and A. J. Kemper Sr. officiating.

Gene Moore

Gene Moore was born on August 22, 1936 to the late Vella Morgan and Arthur Moore in Markham, Texas. Gene was a twin and the youngest child of the family. He departed this earthly life on February 17, 2004, at 3:58 p. m. at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas to his heavenly home to live.

Gene spent his early life in Markham, Texas. He was baptized at an early age at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Markham, Texas.

Gene’s formal education training was in the Matagorda County School System. He graduated from Hilliard High School in Bay City, Texas.

After graduation, Gene was employed at Bay City Minimax Grocery Store for many years. He also worked at the Rice Dryer and Roland Hilliard Village (The Village) in Bay City.

Gene was united in marriage to Bernice Clay. He was a devoted stepfather to his three stepchildren (Mildred, Carolyn and Larry, who preceded him in death).

Later in life, Gene was blessed with a daughter, Rica, whom he cherished.

Preceding him in death in addition to his mother and father: three brothers, Mr. Clemon Patterson, Mr. Hamp Morgan, Jr., and Cleronia Morgan, Sr.; and sister, Amy Martin.

He leaves to mourn: one daughter, Rica (Thomas) Bree of Cedar Lane; one granddaughter, Asia; three sisters, Mary Lee Roberts of Houston, Eddie Steve Dunbar (sister with whom Gene lived during his illness), Bobbie A. Eaton of Bay City; four brothers, Gifford Morgan of Houston, Willie Charles Courtney of Houston, Eugene Moore (Susie) of Wharton and Jack Medina of Bay City; and a host of nieces, nephews (including grand, great and great-great), cousins, and other relatives and an extended family of many, many friends.

March 29, 1951 - January 9, 2020

Funeral service for Brenda La’Gale Morgan, 68, of Bay City, Texas will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3300 Avenue F, Bay City, Texas 77414, where Dr. T. L. Richardson is pastor and officiator.

Burial will follow at Markham Cemetery in Markham, Texas.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 17, 2020 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., also at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Bay City.

Brenda was born on March 29, 1951 in Markham, Texas to Thomas Lee Hawkins Sr. and Clara Mae Morgan, and passed away on Thursday, January

9, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Her kind and gentle spirit will be missed.

MORGAN, Eddie, age 13, died as a result of an auto-pedestrian accident on Saturday night. Funeral services will be held 2 p. m. Tuesday at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Markham, Texas with Rev. H. T. Alridge officiating. Morgan, a resident of Markham lived with his aunt, Mrs. Eddie Steve Dunbar. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Eaton of Bay City. Six sisters, Delorian and Martha Morgan of Houston, Brenda, Debra, Linda and Shawn Eaton of Bay City. Five brothers, Leo Eaton of El Campo, Kenneth, Darrel, Leonard and Boyd all of Bay City. Grandmother, Mrs. Everlina Eaton also of Bay City; Burial will be in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery, Markham, Texas. Duncan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Hamp Morgan, Jr.

On December 30, 1923, a baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Hamp Morgan, Sr. in Collegeport, Texas, whom they named Hamp, Jr. Both parents preceded him in death.

He was born and raised in Texas.

Following a prolonged illness, “Hamp” passed on March 22, 1981, in the Veterans Hospital, Minneapolis, Minn.

He leaves to mourn his passing, three sisters, Mrs. Mary Lee Roberts of Houston, Mrs. Eddie Steve Dunbar of Markham, and Mrs. Bobbie Ann Eaton of Bay City, five brothers, Cleronia of Galveston, Gifford and Charles of Houston, Eugene of Wharton and Gene of Bay City, one aunt, Mrs. Arthslee Castion of San Antonio and a host of other relatives and friends.

Obituary

Patricia Ann Murdock was born on October 31, 1952 to Mr. Moses Jones and Mrs. Odessa Flagg in Bay City, Texas.

Pat became a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church and was baptized by the late Rev. H. T. Aldridge at an early age in life. She moved away from Markham, Texas, but later returned and re-united with Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Rudolph Martin. Here she attended Mission II and Mid-week services where she expressed her belief in Christ and her love for Him.

She attended Public School in the Matagorda County Community.

Sister Murdock's life came to an end on June 1, 1990 in Lake Jackson Memorial Hospital, Lake Jackson after a lengthy illness.

Her memories will always remain in the hearts of her four daughters, Tonika Hercules of Brazoria, Doris Griggs and Kara Griggs of Bay City, Jessica Lewis of Cedar Lane, one son Paul Battise of Houston, six sisters, Mrs. Lucille Amboree, Mrs. Agnes Brown and Mrs. Helen Woods of Houston, Mrs. Hannah Brooks of Bay City, Mrs. Eva Barnes and Mrs. Myrtle George of Markham, three brothers, Bobby and Billy Flagg of Bay City, Jessie Flagg of Markham, one devoted son-in-law, Randolph Hercules of Brazoria and a host of aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends who knew and loved her as she was affectionately called "Pat."

Often we stand at life's crossroads
And view what we think is the end.
But God has a much bigger vision and
He tells us it's only a bend.
