Allen F. Ellis

Funeral services for Allen F. Ellis, 66, of Matagorda were to be held Thursday at 2 pm at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.  The Rev. Walter Langham was to officiate, followed by burial in the Matagorda Cemetery.

Ellis, a lifelong resident of Matagorda, died at his residence March 6. He was a veteran of World War I.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lou Ellis of Matagorda; three sisters, Mrs. E. E. McNaughton, New Orleans, La.; Mrs. C. L. Jolly, Mrs. L. C. Kneisley, both of Houston; three brothers, Clyde and Robert Ellis of Houston and Melton Ellis of Sequin.

Pallbearers were to be Rugeley Serrill, Hubert Gottschalk, Tom Ward, A. M. Franz, Charles Edwards and Carl Anderson.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am Saturday, September 23, at Matagorda Cemetery for Mrs. Cora Louise Ellis, 92, who died Sept. 18 in Houston.

Mrs. Ellis, a native of Matagorda, is survived by three daughters, Mrs. L. C. Knelsey Sr. and Mrs. C. L. Jolly, both of Houston, Mrs. E. E. McNaughton, Dallas; three sons, Clyde and Robert Ellis Houston; Melton Ellis, Seguin; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie McNabb, and Lyda Moberly, and brother Collins Baxter, all of Matagorda; 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren.

Rev. George Dent of Houston will conduct the services.
