Mr. C. Y. Fields, farmer of Sweeny section but a resident of Bay City, was instantly killed last evening about 7 o’clock when the Ford Coupe he was driving smashed into the rear of a wagon of wood driven by Bud Davis, negro, who was unhurt. The man was picked up by the Houston bus driver and rushed in the Loos hospital, but he was evidently dead when found.

Mr. Fields and his family of five children, three daughters and two sons and his wife, moved here from McDade, Texas, about four months ago. Mr. Fields had just bought 700 acres of land in the Sweeny section from Mrs. Meschkat of this city and was colonizing his farm with families he had brought with him. His plans called for many more families that he was bringing from the McDade section.

He is survived by his wife, three daughters and two sons, Funeral arrangements are being conducted by Walker Furniture Company. The arrangements are not definitely completed, awaiting the arrival of a son in Mexico, who is on his was here now.
