Freda Yvonne Burger McCarty
May 27, 1941 - July 28, 2015

Freda McCarty, of Van Vleck, Texas, passed away on July 28, 2015, surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 27, 1941, in Wharton, Texas, to Edward and Josie Burger, the youngest of four, and attended Wharton High School.  She would eventually make her home in Van Vleck, in 1975.  She worked for Bay City Plumbing for many years, before retiring in 2012.  Freda was a very artistic woman and had the greenest of green thumbs.  She spent most of her time making arts & crafts, and perfecting her knitting skills.  During her retirement, Freda spent her days taking care of her garden, bird watching, and making blankets, bows and hats for her grandbabies.  She loved sharing stories about genealogy with her family members and was always eager to speak at the yearly family reunion.  She loved her family, and was most proud of her son, Gordon, and his accomplishments in athletics and FFA, during his high school years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Josie Burger; brothers, Rudy Wilson, Weldon Wilson and Arthur Wilson.

She is survived by her children, Craig Hajducek, Stephanie Reynolds, Darryl Hajducek, and Gordon McCarty and his wife Leslie; grandchildren, Chris Hajducek and his wife Stephanie, David Hajducek and his wife Amanda, Dana Henry and her husband Aron, Kristen Holcomb and Brandon Holcomb, and Halle Yancey and her husband Swayze; great-grandchildren, Adam, Aidan, Brandon, Alyvia, Calder, Karliegh, Emma, Hayden and Cameron; as well as an abundance of other loving family members and friends.

A memorial service was held on Friday, July 31, 2015, at 3 p.m., at Calvary Baptist Church in Bay City, Texas.

There will be an interment of Freda’s cremains, on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at 3 p.m., at Roselawn Cemetery in Van Vleck, Texas.

Freda’s family would like to thank everyone for their condolences, and would like to ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, Texas 75284-1125.

Death of Mrs. McCarty

Mrs. J. F. McCarty departed this life late Tuesday afternoon at the home of her son, Mr. J. E. McCarty. She was born in Alabama eighty one years ago, last August, thus having past her allotted limit of time several years ago. Mrs. McCarty was a devoted mother, a staunch friend, a charming and capable homemaker and an earnest and consistent member of the Baptist church to the end. She was the mother of three sons, two of whom preceded her to the spirit world, there to await her coming.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Travis assister by Undertaker Feather, were held at the house Wednesday afternoon, followed by interment in the Palacios Cemetery.

And another soul has gone to occupy its mansion in the skies.

The sympathy of the community is extended to the sorrowing son and his family.

Rose Marie Krell McClary

In loving memory and celebration of a life well lived. Rose Marie Krell McClary (Nana) of Austin, TX passed into the loving arms of our Lord on July 23, 2015. Born November 7, 1930 in New York State and a graduate of St. Stephen’s in Bradshaw, MD, Rose Marie was a beloved Wife; Mother; Grandmother; and Friend to many in Palacios, TX; Victoria, TX; Rockaway Beach, MO; and Austin, TX. Throughout her life she had many interests, first and foremost her children and grandchildren. Her Grandson, Wyatt  Taylor, said it best: “Nana loved tenaciously and gave her opinion strongly and expected us to do the same with her.” Rose Marie was a strong woman and expected no less from those she loved.

She was also active in the Methodist Church, scouting, Alpha Club, Bridge Club, bowling, the Women’s Crisis Center, ABWA, the Red Cross, and the Bloodmobile.

She enjoyed painting and baking. We found a near-finished, beautiful painting of a sunset in her room after she passed. And we’ll always treasure our memories of Christmas brunch.

Rose Marie was preceded by her husband, Homer McClary and daughter, Bonnie Jean McClary Taylor (BJ) of Austin; and father, John W. Krell, mother E. Suzanne Jund Krell; three half-brothers; and one half-sister, all of MD. She is survived by her son, John McClary; and wife Nancy; grandson, Mason Taylor and grandson-inlaw, Doug, all of Austin; and grandson Wyatt Taylor and grandaughter-in-law Aya of London, UK.
