Clara Louise Abbott Parson

June 6, 1954 - February 3, 2026

A Celebration of Life for Clara Louise Abbott Parson will be at 11AM, Saturday, February 14, 2026 at New Hope Baptist Church, 3300 Avenue F, Bay City, TX with Pastor Jerry Manning, Sr. officiating and Pastor Charles Roberson, Sr.  eulogizing.  

Burial will follow at Ashwood Union Baptist Cemetery, 9906 CR 112. Van Vleck, TX.

Clara made her transition to heaven on February 3, 2026.  

She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Clara was a valued employee of the Fairfield Marriott in Bay City, where she was a faithful and dedicated worker. She was also a former employee of Boling High School, where she served custodial superintendent  for twelve years, dedicating her life to service and leadership.

She leaves precious memories with her mother, Ora Lee Abbott; sons, Tyree Walker (Mona), Chance Parson (Susan); daughters, Diane Robinson (Rory), Charlotte Penson (Chris), 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; 3 brothers; 6 sisters and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, February 13, 2026 at Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home and Chapel, 3318 Avenue D, Bay City, TX from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Clara was truly the heart of the Fairfield by Marriott Bay City, TX for 7 years since opening the hotel in 2018 — a shining example of what genuine hospitality looks like. Her warmth, kindness, and infectious smile made every guest feel seen, valued, and at home. To Clara, no one was ever just a visitor; she welcomed each person like a long-lost friend returning home.

Many guests came to know and love her famous greeting, “Welcome to breakfast,” words that became a comforting tradition and a highlight of their stay. Through simple moments and heartfelt conversations, she created connections that people carried with them long after they checked out.

Clara was more than an employee — she was family. Her dedication, compassion, and joyful spirit left a lasting mark on coworkers and guests alike. The memories she created and the love she shared will continue to live on in the halls she brightened every day.

She will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always cherished by her Marriott Bay City family and our guests, proving she truly carried the Marriott spirit and a heart to serve all. In Honor of her superior customer service we will be adding a plague to our Breakfast are to honor Clara Parson.

Robert Garcia Perez

Funeral services for Robert Garcia Perez, of Ganado and formerly of Palacios, will be held at 11 a.m. on Sat. (Feb. 7) at Living Word Church in Palacios.

Robert was born on April 7, 1954, to Joe Alvarez Perez and Janie Garcia Orozco in Palacios and he passed away on January 25, 2026, at 8:15 a.m., at the age of 71, surrounded by his loved ones at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

Robert was a loving husband, brother, son, uncle, and—most importantly—a proud grandfather. He truly lived and breathed for his grandchildren, finding his greatest joy in being “Popo” and cherishing every moment spent with his babies. He had a deep love for music and spent countless hours playing the guitar, always pushing himself to learn new songs. He also took great pride in his truck and his work as a welder, chasing pipeline jobs across the country with dedication and determination. Robert was preceded in death by his beloved son, John Cody Perez; his parents, Joe A. Perez and Janie G. Orozco; his stepfather, Refugio S. Orozco; and his two younger brothers, Larry G. Perez and Thomas G. Perez. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Perez; his children, Robert G. Perez Jr. and Tiffany Perez (Eric Morales); and his five cherished grandchildren: Kobe Perez, Jacey Edwards, Lainey Edwards, Paisley Edwards, and Jordan Morales. He is also survived by his brothers, Joe A. Perez Jr., Danny G. Perez, and Gary Orozco; and his sisters, Rose Marie Alvarado, Sandra Rodriguez, and Debra Warner.

Robert will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his love of family, his humor, and the strength and heart he shared with all who knew him.

Helen Joyce Wehe Pruett

August 17, 1948 – January 8, 2026

Helen Joyce Wehe Pruett, 77, passed away January 8, 2026. She was born August 17, 1948 in New Braunfels, Texas to the late Raymond Wehe and Estella Elbel Kruse.

Helen was an elementary school teacher, a career she loved. She enjoyed reading mystery books and spending time in Bible study. She loved her family and loved doing activities and trips with her children and grandchildren. Her great grandbabies will always remember her chasing them around in a game they liked to call Monster Tag.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Andrew Pruett and Justin Ty Pruett, a sister, Cheryl Flora and a brother, Larry Wehe.

Survivors include her husband, Ronny G. Pruett; daughters Amanda Pruett and Sarah Vacek & husband Floyd; brothers Dennis Wehe, Warren Wehe and Charles Wehe; grandchildren Lydia Middleton and Bethany Pruett and great grandchildren Layla Middleton and Lane Middleton.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the First Baptist Church. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Logan Middleton, Floyd Vacek, Chad Wehe, Ethan Wehe, Trenton Wehe, Gary Flora, Michael Wehe and Kassidy Pruett.
