Ella Frances Vaughn Parker

May 22, 1928 - July 4, 2015

“Frankie” was born May 22, 1928, to Earl Pierce and Frances Onella Morrison Vaughn, and died July 4, 2015, in Bay City, Texas.

She received her education in the Bay City school system, graduating in 1945. She graduated from Southwestern University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She also graduated with honors from the University of Texas, and was employed by the University Department of Research in Texas History, as a research associate, and Director of the Junior Historian Program of the State Historical Association, and managing editor of the Junior Historian magazine. She was also an associate editor and cartographer for the Southwestern Historical Quarterly.

Upon her return to Bay City, in 1971, she was editor of the Historic Matagorda County Sesquicentennial history. She was honored by the Chamber of Commerce as an Outstanding Woman Citizen and by the Daughters of the American Revolution with their Honor Medal.

She was always an avid aviation enthusiast and is now enjoying flying again on angel wings, earning frequent-flyer miles while attempting chandelles and whifferdills in the vaults of heaven. She earned her private pilot’s license before she had her driver’s license. She was a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol during World War II and later achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant as a Senior Member and earned her Observer Basic wings. She was also a long time member and Colonel in the Commemorative Air Force.

Another of her interests was music, so she is now happily listening to the beautiful music of the harps and anthems of the Heavenly Choir. She was a camper and later a riflery instructor at Camp Waldemar for girls outside of Hunt, Texas. She was also a certified Texas Hunter Safety Instructor for many years here in Bay City, and served on the Troop Committee of Troop 45, Boy Scouts of America.

She looked forward to a reunion with her parents; and a nephew, Vaughn Kennedy; who preceded her in death.

She is survived by a sister, Sally Vaughn Woolsey; niece, Sarah Catherine Woolsey; and nephew John Fletcher Woolsey Jr., of Bay City; all of whom she loved dearly.

Private memorial services will be held at a day and time yet to be arranged.

Memorials may be sent to the Big Springs Ranch for Children, c/o Hill Country Youth Ranch, P.O. Box 67, Ingram, TX 78025-9986, or to the charity of your choice.

From Frances Parker – “By friendships my life has been enriched, and if you would honor my memory, please call on a special friend to let them know how much you value and cherish their friendship.”

“To those I leave behind, I thank you for your friendship and thoughtful kindness, and may God bless you. Until we meet again, find peace in Heaven’s hands. Open wide thine arms of love; Lord, I’m coming home.”

Anton Adolph Pustejovsky

(April 20, 1937 - January 2, 2016)

Anton A. “Tony” Pustejovsky passed away peacefully in Sargent Beach, Texas on January 2, 2016. He was born on April 20, 1937 in the town of West, Texas to Adolph F. and Christine Mechell Pustejovsky. He attended elementary school in Galveston, Texas; Carthage, Texas; and West, Texas. He graduated from West High School in 1955 where he was a member of the high school band. Tony attended Texas A&M University. He was a member of the Aggie Band and the A&M Corp of Cadets rising to be a Senior Supply Officer in “C” Engineers. After graduating from A&M in 1959 with a BS in Industrial Engineering, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and attended Officer Candidate School at Fort Belvoir, Virginia followed by active duty stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was honorably discharged from active duty in June of 1962 as a First Lieutenant, and from the U.S. Army Reserve in August of 1974.

Tony began his civilian career at Johnson & Johnson in Sherman, followed by Texas Instruments in Richardson, Lasso Western Wear, Inc./Fem-Form in San Antonio, then LTV Corporation in Grand Prairie. He retired from management in the Aerospace-Missiles Division of Lockheed Martin Vought Systems in 1999. Tony received an MS from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 1968 and an MBA from University of North Texas in 1976.

Tony’s passion for the coast began in the early 1970s when the family began vacationing in Galveston and Bolivar Peninsula. After retirement Tony moved to Sargent Beach where he became active in the Matagorda County Beach Dune Committee and the Texas Adopt-A-Beach program serving as coordinator for Sargent Beach for over ten years. Tony encouraged his family to participate in the beach cleanups, and the twice a year cleanups became family gatherings with crawfish boils in the spring.

Proud of his Czech heritage, Tony was devoted to fostering its preservation. He was a lifetime member of the Czech Educational Foundation of Texas (CEFT), served on the Board of Directors since 1996, as Treasurer since 1998, and on the advisory committee to UNT for the Kostohryz Residency in Czech Music and Culture. He worked with many fine Czech heritage leaders throughout the state, served with friends and colleagues on the Board, and had opportunities to meet dignitaries and ambassadors of the Czech Republic.

Tony was a hard worker his entire life. He was truly a Jack of All Trades, Master of All, engineering and crafting solutions and unique gadgets. He never met a stranger, always introduced himself with an iron grip handshake, touched many lives, and was a great story teller. He had an undying love for Texas A&M; and even though most seasons and coaching regimes tested his patience, he enjoyed the moments he shared with his family and close friends at Aggie football games. He enjoyed fishing, rigging and baiting his girls’ lines and unhooking their fish, sitting on his meditation log by the surf, watching the sunset, and caring for the wildlife, especially the birds, along the island.

Tony was a beloved companion, father, grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his longtime love of 19 years, Carole Patrick; son Mark Pustejovsky and wife Sandie; daughters Karen Klein and husband Bill; Cheryl Pustejovsky; Cindy Belknap and husband John; Amy Rodgers and husband David; grandchildren Lauren, Jennifer, Heather, West, Kimber; great-grandchild Dylan; sister Kay Polansky and husband Al; nephews Gary, Dale, Alan; Carole’s daughters Katherine, Frances, and Camille.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas. He will be called at the Campus Aggie Muster on April 21, 2016.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be sent to the Czech Educational Foundation of Texas (CEFT), the Texas Adopt-A-Beach program, or to a charity of your choice.

On behalf of the family, thank you for all your prayers and condolences.
