Margaret Adele Drapela Rainey
August 9, 1941 - December 28, 2017

A beautiful lady, Margaret Adele Rainey, left us to be with her family in heaven on December 28, 2017. Margaret was born on August 9, 1941 in Houston, Texas to John and Margaret Drapela.

Margaret Adele was raised in Houston and Bay City, Texas, graduating from Bay City High School. She was raised with strong Catholic values, taught and modeled by both her parents.

She married Mitchel (Mickey) Rainey on May 1, 1963. They had four boys while traveling the world to multiple army bases from Iran to Guam and throughout the United States.

Margaret Adele’s was the definition of a sweet soul, quiet, well mannered, but her everyday personality belied her innate strength. She valued her role of Mother and Homemaker with a passion for her family who she loved dearly. She will always be known for her sense of humor, keen wit, and for making her delicious cinnamon rolls - a Christmas Eve tradition passed down to her sons and grandchildren. Girls born in the 40’s were not supposed to be cheeky, sassy, defiant; they were expected to be docile and invisible, but she showed her strength by going to foreign soils with children, setting up a household, and making it their home away from home. She was always a friend to whomever she met, she was soft spoken, loving and caregiving to many children, yet a strong matriarch for the family. No one knew of a kinder soul.

Immediate family members include husband Mitchel Rainey, and sons Mitchel Wayne, Jr. and partner Daniel DiDonato, Mark Anton, Michael James and wife Marni, Matt Dale (decreased); sisters and brothers Harriet Janise, Jack Drapela, Ned Drapela and wife Doris, Mary Olive Drapela; granddaughters Savannah and Shelbi Rainey, and many extended family members.

We will miss you dearly, for a very long time. We understand you are now in God’s hands and will be our guiding angel to help us through our earthly journeys.
