P. G. Secrest Dies In Houston Today
Bay City Jeweler For Several Years Had Undergone Operation Following Illness

Word was received here at noon today of the sudden death of Mr. P. G. Secrest, jeweler of this city for many years. Mr. Secrest had undergone an operation in the Methodist Hospital and was reported yesterday to be doing fairly well.

Mr. Secrest had been in poor health for several weeks and had gone to Houston several weeks ago for treatment. An operation was finally decided to be made. His condition, however, was never thought to be serious and his death was indeed a terrible shock to his many friends in the city.

He had been in business in the city for many years, owner of the P. G. Secrest Jewelry Company. He was a member of the Methodist Church and was superintendent of the Sunday School in that church for many years. For several years he was City Secretary of the city of Bay City. He was a member of the Masonic Order.

He is survived by his wife, one son, P. G. Jr., of Houston, and one daughter, Mrs. W. B. Carson of San Angelo.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
