Death of Mrs. N. D. Ingersoll – Eudora Ingersoll

Mrs. N. C. Ingersoll died Sunday morning at 5 o’clock after a prolonged and severe illness. Funeral services were held at the family home Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. Myers, pastor of the Methodist church, followed by interment in the city cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. N. D. Ingersoll was born in Polk county, Iowa, in August 1868. In young womanhood she was married to Mr. N. D. Ingersoll, to which union was born eleven children, all of whom are still living. For some six months she has suffered much from a serious sickness and Sunday morning at 5 o’clock she passed away. Two of her children were not at home at all during the funeral, which was I am sure a great grief to them. In early life she professed faith in Christ, and she never surrendered that faith, though she had has many burdens and trials to bear in life. During her sickness she spoke of wanting some one to pray for her and she sang religious songs and prayed for herself and family. Her neighbors speak in the highest terms of her life of unselfish services. When our neighbors believe in our religion that is a high compliment to it.

To her husband and children we extend our deepest sympathy, and pray that some day they shall all meet her in that country where no suffering can ever come. May we as those who believe in Christ do what we can to minister to those little children in the absence of their mother, realizing that “Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these little ones ye did it unto me.” May the good Spirit comfort the bereaved.

B. A. Myers.

More Than Just An Employee

Editor:

Friday, April 11 was a very sad day for us at Wagner General Hospital. Just after 8 p. m. Francis M. Jackson succumbed to a long illness. Mr. Jackson was an employee at Wagner General Hospital for over 15 years. During this time, he was more than just an employee. He was our first male nurse. He took pride in his job and cared for his patients. He was well liked by fellow employees and considered a worthy leader and advisor. He was not just an hourly worked; he was always available 24 hours each day, week after week. He was a gentleman, an accomplished citizen and had a lot to do with guiding Wagner General Hospital during those important early years. After his retirement we all missed him, but he was always close by and his occasional visit meant a lot to each of us.

Mr. Jackson was a close personal friend of mine and over the years, he became my Uncle Jack and his wife my Aunt Hannah. His stable guidance and constant support over the years has meant much to me and to this hospital.

Mr. Jackson’s contributions to Wagner General Hospital cannot be stated in any simple manner; so I would like to say they were great and he will surely be missed.

We ask that Aunt Hannah and the family members feel God’s blessings and our thanks for sharing a real great person with us.

Donald G. Hyett, Administrator, Wagner General Hospital
