Alton Queen

Funeral services for Alton Queen, 75, were held Monday at 2 p. m. at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with N. E. Balch and Shan Jackson officiating. Interment followed at Palacios Cemetery.

Queen was born April 18, 1912 in Jackson County, Okla., son of the late John Filmore and Mary Frances Duncan Queen. He died Feb. 20, 1988 at Wagner General Hospital.

A member of the Church of Christ, he was a life-long resident of Palacios. He was a member of the Palacios Veterans of Foreign War Post 2467 and the Blessing American Legion.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Lloyd Queen of Houston and Alton Joseph Queen of West Lake, LA; two sisters, Edna Hamlin and Opal Carter of Palacios; and one grandson, Andrew Queen of West Lake, LA.

Pallbearers were members of the V. F. W., George Kana, Augustine Gonzales, Joe Frangullie, John Lenihan, Victor Perez and John Lauderbach.

Joseph W. Queen Dead

Mr. Joseph W. Queen, who for some time has made his home just to the north-west of town, departed this life Saturday and the remains were tenderly placed to rest in the Palacios cemetery Sunday afternoon, Rev. Mr. H. A. Echols reading the funeral rites.

Joseph W. Queen was born in northern Louisiana and was taken by his parents to Arkansas, where he grew to young manhood and where in 1878 he was married to Miss Mary Peppers, who survived the husband of her choice. Later Mr. and Mrs. Queen moved to Oklahoma and then to Matagorda County where they have since resided. They are the parents of eight children, two of whom have preceded their father to the world where partings do not come. The surviving children are John F. Queen, McQueen, Okla., Mrs. Frances Harris, Oanado [Ganado?], Wm. A. Queen, California; Walter Queen and Austin Queen both of Port Arthur, Arthur C. Queen, Palacios. Other living relatives are two brothers and a sister who live in Oklahoma.

Mrs. Mary Ann Queen

Mrs. Mary Ann Queen aged 79 years, died at her home in Houston, Monday. Funeral services were held at the Boulevard Funeral Home Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock, conducted by Rev. C. B. Stephenson, after which the body was brought to Palacios for interment.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. G. E. Harris, of West Columbia, five sons, W. A. Queen, of California, W. S. and A. C. Queen, of Port Arthur; C. A. Queen, of Houston, and J. F. Queen of Palacios, besides a number of grandchildren and great grand children.

Arty Mishie Quinn

Mrs. Arty Mishie Quinn, 81, of Angleton, died at the Freeport Nursing Home October 7. She was a former resident of Palacios for 50 years. Survivors include: daughters, Gladys Evelyn Burkett of Weslaco, Texas, Mishie Lovine Guhn of Baton Rouge, La., and Sarrida Ann Tullos of Angleton: son, Clyde S. Quinn of Blessing; sister, Lila Mae Jones of Pasadena, Texas; brother, Orval Powers of Sherman, Texas; 27 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.

David R. Quinn

Funeral services for David Richmond Quinn were held at the Palacios Funeral Home Tuesday, March 5, at 2 p. m. with Rev. Rayford Harris officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery.

A native of Matagorda County and a resident of Palacios for 38 years, he was born April 8, 1899, a son of Will and Sarrida Pearl Quinn. An employee of the City for many years, he died March 3, 1968 in Wagner General Hospital.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. David Quinn of Palacios; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Burkett of Weslaco, Mrs. Mishie Guhn of Baton Rouge, La., Mrs. Sarrida Tullos of Angleton; three sons, Orval Quinn of Killeen, Willie Quinn of San Antonio, Clyde Quinn of Morgan City, La.; one sister, Pearlie Miller of Houston; one brother, Sylvester Quinn of Yuma, Ariz.; two half-brothers, Jim Dollery of Mercedes and Monroe Dollery of Edna, Texas.

L. V. Quinn

Mr. and Mrs. Dave Quinn have the sympathy of Palacios people in the loss of their 7-year-old son, L. U. Quinn, who died Thursday in a hospital in Houston, where he had been taken for treatment. The remains were brought here Friday and on Saturday afternoon funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Rev. Carroll B. Ray, after which burial took place in the Palacios cemetery.

Tommie Lee Quinn

Funeral services for Tommie Lee Quinn will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday, December 24, at the Palacios Funeral Home with the Rev. Rayford Harris officiating. Interment will be in the Palacios Cemetery.

Son of Henry and Willie Mae Simpson Quinn, he was born January 29, 1910, in Ganado, Texas. A resident of Palacios for 58 years, he was an employee of Matagorda County Precinct 3. He was an active member of the Gulf Coast Riders Club and the Palacios Trail Riders Association. He died Monday morning, December 22, in Wagner General Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann of Palacios; daughter, Betty Lee Barnes of Victoria; son, Allan Dean Quinn of Kingsville; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Brune and Mrs. Frances Peterson of Palacios, Mrs. Lottie Hunt of Terrell; brother, Horace Quinn of Palacios and six grandchildren.

William H. Quinn

William Henry Quinn died at his home in Palacios at 7:55 Wednesday morning, June 7, 1944. He was born in Ganado, Jackson county, January 15, 1880. On March 8, 1908 he was married to Miss Willie Mae Simpson.

Mr. Quinn and his family moved to Palacios in 1927 and have resided here ever since. He followed farming in both Jackson and Matagorda counties for a number of years, and for eleven years served as an employee of the State highway commission, having to give up this work on account of his health.

In early life he joined the Baptist Church in which faith he continued to abide.

Surviving are his wife and five children, Tommie Lee Quinn, Mildred Atkins, Lottie Belle Hunt and Frances Quinn of Palacios and Horace Quinn, who is in the Service also his father, J. E Quinn, of Palacios, one brother, Richard Quinn, of Dickinson, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Brown of Dickinson, and Mrs. L. E. Turner of Devers, and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Palacios Funeral Home with Rev. L. W. Crouch and Rev. J. A. Derrick officiating and burial in Palacios cemetery.

William Horace Quinn

Funeral services for William Horace Quinn were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday, November 29, at the Palacios Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Connolly officiating. Interment was in the Palacios Cemetery.

Son of the late William Henry and Willie May Quinn, he was born March 18, 1921, in Ganado, Texas. A resident of Palacios for approximately 46 years, he was employed as a boat operator. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of Cecil Lee American Legion Post of Blessing and a member of the Methodist Church. He was found dead at his home at 414 Ritchie Monday afternoon.

He is survived by one son, William Henry (Bill) Quinn of Palacios; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Brune of Palacios and Mrs. Lottie Hunt of Terrell, Texas.

Funeral Services For Mrs. Henry Quinn Held Here Tuesday
Willie Mae Quinn

Funeral services for Mrs. Henry Quinn were held at the Palacios Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 with the Rev. Rayford B. Harris officiating.

Mrs. Quinn was born February 10, 1890, and passed away Monday, March 17.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. J. E. Atkins, Mrs. M. C. Hunt, and Mrs. Ludvig Peterson; and two sons, Horace Quinn and T. L. Quinn.

Burial was in Palacios Cemetery.

Antonio Quintanilla

Funeral services for Antonio Quintanilla, 85, were held June 14, 1992 at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Flores officiating. Interment followed at the Palacios Cemetery.

Mr. Quintanilla was born Jan. 27, 1907 in Mexico to Manuel Quintanilla and Refugia Longoria. He died June 14, 1992 in Herman Hospital in Houston. He was preceded in death by his wife Lydia Quintanilla June 23, 1991. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a resident of Palacios since 1937. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law Manuel and Lucy Quintanilla, sister Timotea Quintanilla and granddaughter Alma Quintanilla, all of Palacios.

Pallbearers were Louis Martino, Louis A. Martino, Trinidad Constancio, Jaime Constancio Leonel Nevarez and Lazaro Marroquin.

Isabel Quintanilla

Funeral services for Mrs. Isabel Quintanilla, 70, were held Sunday at 2 p. m. at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Palacios Cemetery.

Mrs. Quintanilla was born Sept. 22, 1917 in LaFeria, TX and died Feb. 19, 1988 at Wagner General Hospital.

Survivors include three daughters, Elma Constancio and Delia Longoria of Palacios and Ramona Cordoba of Allentown, PA; one son, Ruben Quintanilla of Palacios; three sisters, Alicia Villarreal of Oregon, Guadalupe Conde of Corpus Christi and Maria Perez of California; two brothers, Juan Elizade of Corpus Christi and Ramiro Elizalde of California; and 12 grandchildren.

Joe L. Quintanilla

Services were held May 28, 1989 at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel for Joe L. Quintanilla, died at his home May 26. Rev. Tony Flores officiated at the ceremony and at the burial at Palacios Cemetery.

Quintanilla was born October 14, 1911 in Tamaulipas, Mexico to Manuel Quintanilla and Refugia Longoria Quintanilla, and had been a resident of Palacios for 60 years. He never married. Survivors include a sister, Timotea Quintanilla; and a brother, Antonio Quintanilla, both of Palacios, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Samuel Marroquin, Thuy Nguyen, Jaime Constancio, Romolo Garcia, Ernest Garcia and Leonel Navarez.

Mrs. Refugia Quintanilla

Mrs. Refugia Quintanilla died Saturday morning in Wagner General Hospital following a lingering illness.

Prayer services were held at 1:30 p. m. Monday in the chapel and at 1:45 p. m. in the Second Presbyterian Church with the Rev. F. P. Rugerio officiating. Burial was in the Palacios Cemetery.

A resident of Palacios for 20 years, she was born February 20, 1883, in Brownsville.

Surviving are two sons, Luciano and Antonio Quintanilla, of Palacios; two daughters, Miss Timotea Quintanilla of Palacios and Mrs. Rosa Garcia of Matamoros, Mexico; a sister, Mrs. Francisca Soliz of Matamoros; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Timotea Quintanilla

Palacios—Timotea Quintanilla, 97, of Palacios, died Saturday, Nov. 7, 1998.

She was born Aug. 22, 1901, in Ranch, to the late Manuel and Refugia Longoria Quintanilla. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Survivors: several nieces and nephews.

Services will be 10 a. m. Monday at Palacios Funeral Home, the Rev. Tony Flores officiating.

Burial will be at Palacios Cemetery.

Maddox Motor Co. Employee Is Found Accidentally Shot
Ynocencio Longoria Quintanilla

Funeral services for Ynocencio Longoria Quintanilla were held Sunday, August 7, at 2 p. m. at the Palacios Funeral Home followed by religious services at the Second Presbyterian Church with the Rev. D. J. Vera officiating. Graveside military services were held prior to interment in the Palacios Cemetery.

Quintanilla, born December 28, 1909 in Mexico, was killed accidentally Friday morning, August 5 while hunting rabbits at Well’s Point.

When he failed to return to his cousin, Tony Quintanilla, who knew he had gone hunting, and Jack Maddox went in search of him. The body had been spotted by an unknown lady and she had gone to the B. J. Wesselman home to report her findings and get help, when Mr. Quintanilla and Mr. Maddox found the body. Justice of the Peace Paul Geissler rendered the verdict of accidental death.

A veteran of World War II, he helped build the Maddox Motor Company building and has been an employee there ever since.

He is survived by his wife, Isabel Quintanilla, one son, Rubin; two daughters, Elma and Delia; mother, Manuela Longoria; one brothers, Nicholas; four sisters, Petra Lias, Elbira Canales, Maria Quintanilla and Beatriz Valdez.
