Linda Rogers Matthews

Linda Rogers Matthews, 57, of Victoria died Nov. 16 at Victoria Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born August 9, 1944 in Bay City to the E. L. "Skinny" and Eileen Munson Rogers. Mrs. Matthews was a former longtime resident of Bay City and member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: 3 daughters and sons-in-law; Sherri and Jay Harvey, Jerrie and Daniel Machacek, all of Goliad, and Pattie and Willie Strelec of Edna; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Bennie Baldwin of Houston; six grandchildren, Brian, Stephanie, and Jason Harvey and Vance, Ashley and Tyler Strelec; and step mother, Nettie Rogers of Bay City.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Zimmerman officiating.

Jo Sidney McMillan

Jo Sidney McMillan, 82, of Bay City, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2002 at Matagorda General Hospital. She was born June 19, 1920 in Rosenberg, TX to Dudley Jefferson Bell and Luda Maud Ward Bell. She was a resident of Bay City since 1952, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Bay City and member of the Eastern Star in West Columbia.

She is survived by: her daughter, Karen Jo McIntyre of Pearland; son John Collier McMillan, Jr. and daughter-in-law Mary Jane of Bay City; and by five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. McMillan, Sr., by two sons, Thomas Edward McMillan and Borden Sidney McMillan; and by her parents; Dudley Jefferson and Luda Maud Bell.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2002 at the First Baptist Church of Bay City with the Rev. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, TX. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 18, 2002 from 6 to 8 p.m.

John C. McMillan, Sr.

Funeral services for John C. McMillan, Sr., 83, of Bay City, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 1994, at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Mr. McMillan was born Oct. 18, 1911 in Mist, Ark., to John E. and Maggie Collier McMillan and died Nov. 24, 1994 in Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

He had been a resident of Bay City since 1951 and was a member of Columbia Church. He was a Past Master of St. John's Masonic Lodge #5 in West Columbia and a Past Patron of Eastern Star #705 in West Columbia.

Survivors include his wife, Jo S. McMillan of Bay City; a daughter, Karen McMillan McIntyre of Friendswood; three sons, John McMillan Jr. of Bay City, Ed McMillan of El Campo and Sid McMillan of West Columbia; a sister, Mary McFarland of Banks, Ark.; two brothers, T. E. McMillan and Horace McMillan, both of Brazoria; five grandchildren, Margaret Anderson, Jeff McMillan, Kathy Peebles, Elizabeth Bradbury and Sid Bradbury and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Dudley Ksionda, Larry Doolen, Jeff McMillan, Sid Bradbury, Glen McIntyre, Tommy McMillan, Chris Anderson and Jason Doolen.

Honorary pallbearers are Judge Thurman Gupton, Hadley McKay, Truman Nygard, David Sloan, Haley Matthews and F. J. Milberger.

Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home of Bay City.

James Luther Music

James Luther Music, 61, of Van Vleck died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002 in Houston, Texas.

He was born July 3, 1941 in Prestonburg, KY to the late Denver and Lucy Miller Music.

He was a member of Bay City Masonic Lodge No. 865 A. F. & A. M.

He is survived by: his wife, Marilyn Music of Van Vleck; daughter: Donna Marie Pruitt of Bay City; John Russell Music of Van Vleck Music of Van Vleck; two grandchildren: Kristopher Kunkel and Rachel Willauer both of Bay City.

The funeral service was at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Monday, Nov. 4 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Max Pluss officiating.

Pallbearers include: John Music, Kris Kunkel, Jeff Price, David Schomker, Michael Sneath, and Frank Price.

Mr. Music was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Pat Shoemaker,

Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Rosalie Annie Seifert

Services for Rosalie Annie Seifert, 85, of Bay City were held on July 17 at 2 pm at the Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel.  The Rev. Joseph A. Gieth officiated. Seifert died July 15 at Sweeny House Nursing Home.

She is survived by her daughters Marth Glack of Cedar Lane, TX and Helen Hunter of Manvel; her sons Walter Seifert of Corpus Christi and Henry Seifert of Bay City; her brothers Adolph Goedrich of Highlands, and August Goedrich of Hallettsville.

Seifert was a resident of the Bay City area since 1936.  She was affiliated with the Catholic church.

Burial at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck followed the services.  Pallbearers were Les, Culpepper, Douglas Siefert, Derrick Hunter, Craig Burchfield, Farris Crain and David Zapalac.

Arrangements are with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.
