Funeral services for Cody Robert Montalvo, 1 month, will be 2 pm Tuesday, at First Baptist Church, Bay City with Dr. W. D. Baker officiating.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck.

Friends and family may call from 9 am to 9pm today and 9 am to 12:30 pm Tuesday.

Mr. Montalvo was born Feb. 26, 1990, in Houston to Ruben and Sonia Sprague Montalvo of Markham, who survive him, and died April 20, 1990, at Matagorda General Hospital, Bay City.

Survivors include his parents; a stepsister, Rebecca Kelly of Alvin; maternal grandmother, Pat Sprague of Houston; paternal grandmother, Diane Cornejo of Bay City; maternal great-grandmother Sunny Smith of Matagorda; and paternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Domingo Sanchez Sr. of Markham.

BAY CITY - Roberto C. Muniz, 78, of Bay City, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004.

He was born Dec. 24, 1925, in Goliad, to the late Carlos C. and Cipriana Muniz.

Survivors: daughter, Angie Becerra of Bay City; sons, Rejino Muniz and Mario Muniz, both of Bay City; sisters, Adelfa Soto and Alicia Tovar, both of East Bernard; brothers, Carlos Muniz of Rosenberg and Leonardo Muniz of East Bernard; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: wife, Juanita D. Muniz; daughter, Stella Muniz; sisters, Matiana Calderon and Herminia De Los Santos; and brothers, Urbano Muniz, Nicolas Muniz, and Reinaldo Muniz.

A prayer service will be 7 p.m. tonight at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, the Rev. Erasmo Del Bosque officiating.

Albert L. Munn

Albert L. Munn

Funeral services for Albert L. Munn, 72, of Bay City will be at 4 p. m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 1998 at the First Baptist Church, Rev. W. D. Baker and Glen Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Munn died Sunday, Oct. 4 at the Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton. He was born July 1, 1926 in Westbrook, TX to John W. and Minnie Jane Horner Munn. He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and choir member. He retired from Mobil Oil Company after 40 years of employment.

Munn is survived by wife, Norma Munn of Bay City; daughter, Kathy Munn of Ft. Worth; daughter and son-in-law, Lee Ann and Dennis Bowers of the Citrus Grove Community; brother and sister-in-law Irvin and Margaret Munn of Chickasha, Okla.; grandchildren, Justin Bowers, Kristin Bowers, Stacy Bowers and Shannon Bowers.

Pallbearers will be Joe Rowland, Pat Matthes, James Sowell, John McMillan, Stan Eldridge and Mark Goodman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Bowers and Deacons of First Baptist Church.

Arrangements are with Bay City Funeral Home.

Norma Jean Munn

April 05, 1929 - December 11, 2019

On December 11, 2019, Norma Jean Munn went home to be with her heavenly father.  She was born on April 5, 1929 in Marlin, TX. 

Norma graduated as the Valedictorian of Industrial High School.   After high school, she went to work as the Post Master of the Vanderbilt Post Office.  She then met the love of her life, Albert Munn while attending church.  They were married in January 1949.  Albert and Norma moved to Bay City where they raised their two daughters, Lee Ann and Kathy.  Norma was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bay City for over 50 years where she worked in the church office for over 20 of those years.   She loved to sing, and this was evident in her many years as part of the church choir.   She was affectionately known by her grandchildren as “Maw Maw” and all those that knew her, knew how much she loved her family. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Munn, daughter Kathy Munn, parents Clyde and Thelma Philips and her brother Clyde Phillips Jr. 

She is survived by her daughter, Lee Ann Bowers (Dennis); sister Ella Schutt; grandchildren Justin Bowers (Tammy), Kristen Christopher (Nick), Stacy Greenawalt (JD), Shannon Ellington (Aaron); great-grandchildren Wesley Creager (Taylor), Paxton Creager, Emily Bowers, Skylar Christopher, Preston Christopher, Jace Bowers, Shelby Greenawalt, Luke Greenawalt and several nieces and nephews.   

Services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bay City with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers are Aaron Ellington, Nick Christopher, J.D. Greenawalt, Justin Bowers, Steve Pringle and Dennis Bowers.

Albert Isaac Munson
(December 14, 1928 - January 5, 2009)

Albert Isaac Munson, Sr., 80, of Van Vleck passed away Jan. 5, 2009. He was born December 14, 1928 in Romayor, Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Munson of Van Vleck; daughter Barbara Bandy & husband Byron of Smith Station, Alabama; son Albert Munson, Jr. & wife Debbie of Van Vleck; sister Della Snyder of Teague, TX; brothers Raymond Munson of Corpus Christi, Felton Munson of Crockett, TX & Robert Munson of Bay City; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm to 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

(August 27, 1926 - June 4, 2011)

Sylvia Munson was born August 27, 1926 to the late Paul and Mary Sipula and went to be with the Lord June 4, 2011. She loved life, her family & friends and Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Her beloved husband Albert Munson, Sr. preceded her in death. She is survived by her son Albert “Bubba” Munson, Jr. and wife Debbie; daughter Barbara Gandy and husband Byron; sister Cecelia Sherman; 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Sylvia will be missed by her family and friends.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Monday, June 6, 2011 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Peggy Jean Dierlam Olds

Peggy Jean Dierlam Olds, 67, of Bay City died July 4, 2004. She was born August 31, 1936 in Bay City to the late Albert Sidney and Ola Hawes Dierlam. Mrs. Olds was a lifelong resident of Bay City, a member of the First United Methodist Church, and was a tax accountant here in Bay City.

Survivors include: two sisters, Ola Ann Moseley of Bay City and Sidney D. McGlothlin of Sunset Beach, Texas; nieces, nephews, and cousins; also by close and dear friends, Peggy Dodd, Elva Quijas, and Pamela Littleton all of Bay City.

A memorial funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church Chapel with the Rev. Kevin Young officiating. Private interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

Joseph John Ottis

Services will be held for Joseph John Ottis, 79, of Wadsworth, 12 noon Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church.  Officiating at the services will be the Rev. Charles Sonnier.

Ottis died November 6, 1982 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston.

Survivors include wife, Minnie Stoermer Ottis of Wadsworth; daughter, Vivian Abshier of Wadsworth; son, Charles Ottis of Bay City; sisters, Ilene Gassen of Franklin, Helen Lundin of Port Lavaca; brothers, John Ottis of Okarche, Oklahoma, Emil and Tom M. Ottis both of Bay City, Matt K. Ottis of Wadsworth; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.

Ottis was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Wadsworth and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was a resident of Wadsworth since 1910 and a well-known rice farmer in the area for the past 50 years.

 A special rosary will be said at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Wadsworth at 6 pm tonight (Monday) with an evening service following at 8 pm at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow services at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Pallbearers include Kim, David, Chuck and Mitch Abshire, Allen Law, Harold E. Ottis and Matt J. Ottis. Arrangements with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home.
