Services will be held for Floyd Omer Holloway, 86, of Bay City, 1:30 pm Saturday at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. 

Officiating at the services will be the Rev. G. Wayne Wilson.

Holloway died April 7, 1983 at Matagorda General Hospital.

Survivors include: Idell Holloway of Bay City; daughter, Mary Jane Hawthorne of Abgoig, Saudi Arabia; sons, Larry A. Holloway of Bay City, Neil F. Holloway of Blessing; sister, Jessie M. Williams of Bay City; brother, Eldon Holloway of Bay City; 5 grandsons.  Burial followed services at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Pallbearers include M. L. Hurst, John Holland, Jimmy Stewart, Ralph Thompson, J. L. Ledwig and Sonny Biggerstaff.

Cecilia May Coston Sherman

Cecilia May Coston Sherman, 93, of Van Vleck, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016.

Cecilia is survived by her grandchildren, Michael Coston, Felicia Shriner, Deborah Brown-Johnson and Jacob Coston; 11 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; nephew, Albert Munson; niece, Barbara Ganby; and numerous other loving family members.

Visitation was held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2016, at the Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas, with Deacon Guadalupe “Wally” Rodriguez officiating.

Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, Texas.

Pallbearers were Derek Cornfield, Johnny Coston, David Hudson, Jody Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Bill Shriner and Jacob Coston.

Alton Glen Simmons

Alton Glen Simmons, 77, of Bay City, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2002. He was born June 20, 1924 in Panola County, Texas to Clyde William and Nora Verena Porter Simmons.

He was a resident of Matagorda County for the past 51 years, a member of the Bay City Baptist Church and was a retired pumper from Amoco Production Company.

He is survived by: his wife, Wanda Simmons of Bay City; by his daughter: Shelley Mineau of Bay City; by a sister: Ruby Marie Foote of Lake Jackson; and by his brothers: Donald Simmons of Carthage and Huey Simmons of Longview. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Chris Taylor, Jolene Mejias and husband Freddie, and Marc Hipp all of Bay City; and by his great grandchildren: Christopher Taylor, Chariti Taylor, David Mejias, and Chayanne Mejias, all of Bay City. He was preceded in death by his son, Glen Louis Simmons; by his parents, Clyde and Nora Simmons; and by his brothers, Felton and Henry Simmons.

Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002 at the Taylor Bros Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Lee Watson officiating. Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Wanda Simmons
(February 7, 1929 - November 25, 2012)

Wanda Simmons went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 25, 2012. Wanda was born on February 7, 1929 in Pampa, Texas to the late Joel and Dora Stansell Syrus. Wanda loved to garden and was a great cook. Her world revolved around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devout Baptist who loved her church-family.

She is survived by her loving family daughter; Shelley S. Mineau; grandson; Chris Taylor Sr. and wife Laura, granddaughter, Wanda Jolene Mejias & husband Freddie, grandson, Marc Cyrus Hipp and wife Sondra; Great-grandchildren, Christopher Glen Taylor Jr., Nicholas Wayne Ybarra, Chariti Alese Taylor, Courtney Jean Ybarra, David Joel Mejias, Cierra Chayanne Refugia Mejias, Ashton Renee Perez, Jerry Lynn Moore, Jadyn Marie Hipp and Tryston Alton Hipp, and sister Charlotte Jolene Hague of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews. Wanda is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years,. Alton Glen Simmons; son, Glen Louis Simmons; parents Joel and Dora Syrus; Brother-in-law, Earl A. Hague and granddaughter, Brittney Nicole Ybarra.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Bay City Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Watson officiating. Burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-8P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bay City Baptist Church, 1818 Marguerite St., Bay City, Texas 77414 or Houston Hospice, 1102 N. Mechanic, El Campo, Texas 77437.

Graveside services for Hughie Homer White were held 3 pm today at Roselawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Earle E. Hosea officiating.

Visitation was held 8 am Sunday.

Mr. White was born Aug. 27, 1928, to Mr. and Mrs. Walter White in Blessing and died April 12, 1991, at Tri-City Hospital in Dallas.

Survivors include a sister, Eleanor Jane Hosea, of Clear Lake, Ind.; an uncle, Paul Pickel, of Baytown; and an aunt; Lois Pickel, of Bay City.

Funeral services are under the direction of Dick R. Elkins of Bay City Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 10 AM Tuesday for Walter “Jake” White, Bay City, who passed away at his home Sunday. Reverend C. P. Jinks of Temple Baptist Church will officiate with interment following in Roselawn Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife Elva, one daughter Mrs. Jane Hosca of Houston; one son Hugie white of Austin; 4 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Valee Miller of Waco and Mrs. Josie Sutton of Bay City; and 2 brothers Pete of Bay City and Albert of Corpus Christi.

White came to Matagorda County in 1916, living first and Blessing and later in Bay City. Born in McGregor, Texas in 1903, he had operated a road maintainer for County Precinct 1 for a number of years at the time of his death.

Pallbearers are Bill Hillman, G. M. Edwards, C. O. Middleton, A. N. Sullivan, E. E. Gibbens and Paul Smith.

Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Voitle, Edwin Dornak, John Duncan, G. J. Rainey, John H. Roe, Paul Hartman, Edward Hickl, Albert Hornbostel, O. E. Mote, and Stanley Polenski.

Ynosente H. Yanez

Ynosente Hernandez Yanez

Funeral services for Ynosente Hernandez Yanez, 61, of Bay City, will be held 10 am Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Edward Boren officiating. Burial was to be at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.  Rosary will be said 7 pm today at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Bay City.

Mr. Yanez was born Dec. 8, 1931 in Bay City to Felix and Marcela Hernandez Yanez and died May 3, 1993 in Bay City.

He was a member of the catholic church and a US Army veteran of the Korean war. Mr. Yanez was a lifelong resident of this area.

Survivors include four daughters, Melissa Lopez of Freeport, Melinda Bejarano of Bay City, Marina Lopez of Angleton; three sons, Joe John Yanez, Sr. and David Yanez Sr., both of Bay City, and Andres Yanez of Angleton; two daughters-in-law, Elida R Yanez and Eva Yanez, both of Bay City; two sisters, Rose Figuroa and Mamie Barrera, both of Bay City; four brothers, Lupe Yanez of Bay City, Felix Yanez Jr. of Angleton, Prudencio Yanez of Houston and Ramon Yanez of Houston; and 36 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Librado Bejarano, Arthur Barrera, Felix Yanez III, Mack Yanez, Johnny Yanez, Ray Yanez, Sixto Sanchez and Roy Yanez.

Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home of Bay City.

Henry Yarborough
(November 21, 1948 - May 10, 2006)

Henry Yarborough, 57 of Bay City, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2006 in Bay City. He was born November 21, 1948 inTrinity, TX to James Leroy Yarborough and Mary Molly Fondron Yarborough. He was a lifelong resident of Bay City, a truck driver for McAda Drilling Fluids and a member of the Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 8 years, Anita Katzer Yarborough; his son: Mark Yarborough & wife Esther; his daughter: Kristi Bump & husband Charles; and by his stepdaughter: Krystal Phillips and Thomas Willis; by a sister: Sue Fisher; by four brothers: Jimmy, Roy, Roland and Earl Yarborough; and by 10 grandchildren, great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents: James & Mary Molly Yarborough and by a daughter, Kaylynn Yarborough.

The family will receive visitors at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, May 12, 2006. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lee Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
