Funeral services for Velma Jackson Plummer, 79, of Pledger are scheduled for noon Tuesday at Union Baptist Church, Pledger, with the Rev. Frank Cones officiating. Burial will be in Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger.

Visitation will be this afternoon at Green's Mortuary chapel and Tuesday from 11 a. m. to noon at Union Baptist Church.

Mrs. Plummer was born Feb. 20, 1914 in Matagorda County to Ishmal and Ollistine Spradley Jackson and died Sept. 30, 1993 at her residence.

She was an usher at Grove Hill Baptist Church and a member of The American Woodsman.

Survivors include her husband, Isom Peter Plummer of Pledger; three daughters, Odessa Spradley and Adorothy Johnson, both of Pledger and Harriet Brown of Houston; five sons, G. L. Plummer of Richmond, Jimmy Plummer, Robert Plummer of Houston, E. J. Plummer and Ronnie Plummer of Huntsville, Ala.; three sisters, Leola Roberson, Leotis Hauchett and Larline Amy of Port Arthur; three brothers, Ira Jackson of Freeport, Sam Straughter of Lake Jackson and Carlas Jackson of Wharton; 29 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; three special sisters-in-law Bessie Spradley of Pledger, Alice Houston of Austin and Odessa Davenport of Bay City; a brother-in-law, Violin Plummer; a niece Edith Phillips of La Marque; a nephew whom she raised, Rickey Jackson and his son, Haywood and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Harold Underwood, Thurman Jackson, Larry Straughter and Carol Wayne Straughter.

Honorary pallbearers are E. J. Plummer, G. L. Plummer, Ronnie Plummer, Herman Spradley, Haywood Jackson and Unice Spradley.

She was preceded in death by a sister, two brothers and a son, Lewis Plummer.

Arrangements are with Green's Mortuary of Bay City.

Funeral services for Master Korlan Johnson Pointer 2, of Bay City will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church Bay City, Texas with the Rev. T. L. Richardson, pastor.

Korlan leaves to mourn his passing: father, Corey Pointer of Bay City, Texas and mother, Elandra Johnson of Richmond, Texas.

Burial will follow immediately after the service at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger, Texas.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009 in the Chapel of Green's Mortuary.

PLEDGER [Matagorda County, Texas] - Graveside services for baby Ja'Riyah Rae'Shaw Richards, baby boy of Earlalina Moore of Pledger, will be at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 4, 2008 at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger.

There was a viewing from 3-7 p.m. in the chapel of Green's Mortuary on Thursday Jan. 3, 2008.

Baby Ja was born and died on Dec. 30, 2007.

Funeral arrangements are with Green's Mortuary.

Matt K. Roberson, Sr.,59, of Houston died April 11, 1977 in the V. A. Hospital in Houston.

Survivors include three sons, Matt, Jr., Rex Carroll and Craig Wayne Roberson all of Houston and six grandchildren. He was a World War II Veteran and a former resident of Bay City.

Services will be held at the Union Baptist Church in Pledger Saturday, April 16 at 2 p. m. with the Rev. A. L. Jones officiating.

Burial will be in Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger

Funeral services for Kenneth Rutherford, 94, of Boling, will be Saturday, February 2, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Union Baptist Church in Pledger with the Rev. Elzie Bonner Jr., eulogist. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger. Visitation will be Friday until 9 p.m. in the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born in Pledger, Texas on Saturday, June 22, 1907 to Anderson Rutherford and Georgiana Austin Rutherford, and passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2002, at his residence.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and will be remembered for his kindness and longevity.

Survivors include: a daughter, Delois Jackson; two grandsons, Dennis Jackson and Vernon Jackson, granddaughter-in-law, Winda Jackson; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Nettie Rutherford; four nephews; several great nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.

Active pallbearers will be Raymond Jackson, Dennis Jackson, Benford Davis, Anthony Brown, DeUndra Williams and DeWarren Wiley.
