FARNED, JOHN WILLIAM
Funeral services for John William Farned, 81, of Bay City will be 2
p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with
the Rev. Sam Steele officiating.
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.
Mr. Farned died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000. He was born March 10, 1918 in New
Hope, Chickasaw, MS to Jim Farned and Ruth Dowling Farned.
He was a member of the Calvary Bapitst Church and a former member of Odd
Fellow of Bay City and Silsbee.
He resided in Bay City over forty years, was a veteran of the US Army,
and retired as a Production Foreman after forty years of service with
Atlantic Richfield.
He is survived by: his wife, Martha Laurine Farned of Bay City; two
sons, David Wayne Farned and wife, Patricia of Bay City and James Robert
Farned and wife, Kimberly of Minneapolis, MN; two sisters, Lucille
Nokleby of Maudlin, SC and Blanche Stansel of Houston; two brothers,
Richard L. Farned of Okalona, MS and Rothen Farned of Calif; and
step-grandsons, Thomas R. Cox of Matagorda and David A. Cox of Bay City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ruth Farned; a sister,
Ruby Mae Franke; and by one brother, Henry E. Farned.
Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City.

FEHMEL, JOHN WILLIAM "BILL"
 John William "Bill" Fehmel, Sr. 85, of Bay City died May 8,
2001 at his residence. He was born August 28, 1915 in Dallas, Texas to
the late John Walter and Johanna Sohns Fehmel.
Mr. Fehmel was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, a resident of
Bay City since 1948 where he owned and operated Fehmel Dusting Service,
and was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army as a flight
instructor.
Survivors include: wife, Hazel Slagle Fehmel of Bay City; two daughters
and a son-in-law, Rebecca Phillips of Fulshear, Texas and Eleanor and
Lesley Deuel of Victoria; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and
Margaret Fehmel, Jr. and Ronnie and Jean Fehmel all of Bay City; sister,
Christine Brown of Dallas; brother, Jack Fehmel of Lancaster, Texas; ten
grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by
his granddaughter, Karen Fehmel; sister, Anna King and brothers, John,
Fred, Richard, Frank, and Lawrence Fehmel.
A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Mary 9, 2001, at Taylor Bros.
Funeral Home with the Father Joseph Shannon, and the Funeral Mass will
be 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Revs. Casey
Jarzombek and Joseph Shannon officiating. Interment will follow at
Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck.

FLINT, JEROME W., "JERRY"
Jerome W. "Jerry" Flint, 94, of Blessing died at Matagorda
General Hospital, January 25, 2001. He was born September 3, 1906 in
Summers Co. West Virginia to the late Thomas Wayne and Ocie Ola Taylor
Flint.
Mr. Flint was a longtime resident of Blessing and a member of the
Midfield Community Church. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US
Army nearly 20 years. He was also a life member of the Blessing Cecil
Lee American Legion Post No. 649 and was a past Commander in 19479.
Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Lilliam Kopecky Flint of
Blessing; daughter, Phyllis Anne Beverage of Boca Raton, Fl.; two
sisters, Christine Flint and Geneva Scott both of Covington, Virginia;
three grandchildren, Flint Beverage and Brenna Beverage both of Boca
Raton, Fl. Christy de Vries and her husband Dough of Montrose, Colo.;
one great granddaughter, Ashley Anne de Vries of Montrose, Colo.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2001 at Taylor Bros.
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Zimmerman officiating. Interment
will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing.
Pallbearers will be members of American Legion Post 649.
Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

FLORES, JIMMIE, JR.
A Rosary for Jimmie Flores, Jr., 79, of Palacios, will be held at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, June 11, at the Palacios Funeral Home. Funeral services will
be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 12 at the First Presbyterian Church of
Palacios.
Officiating will be Rev. Tony Flores, Rev. Marcillo Garcia, Rev. Andy
Blair and Rev. Janell Blair.
Interment will be at Palacios Cemetery.
Mr. Flores was born Feb. 10, 1924 in Palacios to Jimmie and Otila Solis
Flores, Sr. He died June 9, 2003.
He and his wife, 'Pie', had been the owners of the former El Torito
Restaurant in Palacios. Mr. Flores was a U. S. Army veteran of World War
II. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and Queen-Hamlin VFW Post
2467.
He is survived by his wife, Amparo "Pie" Flores; daughter:
Ernestine Silvas of Palacios; son: Jimmie Flores III of Brazoria and
Johnny L. Flores of Conroe; six grandchildren; and four
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Jesse Flores.
Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or the VFW Post
No. 2467, Palacios, Texas.

CHARLES FORREST
Charles Forrest, 65, founder of Aqua Classic Pools, Inc. in Clute and
Bay City, Tx, died at Angleton-Danbury Hospital on July 9, 2006
following a courageous battle with cancer.
The family will receive friends at Palms Funeral Home, 2300 E. Mulberry,
Angleton from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006. Funeral services will be
held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at First Baptist Church, 237 E.
Locust in Angleton with Alan Stovall and Dr. Jay Gross officiating.
Graveside services will be at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, Tx. conducted
by Jim Murry.
Mr. Forrest born Sept. 23, 1940, in Lufkin, Tx. to the late Lynwood
Forrest and Aileen Forrest Wishard of Houston.
He graduated from Buna High School in 1959. Charles served in the U.S.
Army from 1959 to 1962 during the Cold War, and was stationed at
Tempelhof Airforce Base in Berlin, Germany. He served as a crew chief
for Tempelhof’s helicopter unit. During his tour in Berlin he met the
love of his life, Monika Neus. After a courtship of a few years, they
were united in marriage on March 29, 1962.
He moved with his ‘fraulein’ Monika from Berlin to Palacios, Tx. in
1962. After working for many years as a welder in the oil fields,
Charles and Monika opened Aqua Classic Pools & Spas in Palacios in 1983,
then moved the store to Bay City and opened another store in the
Brazosport area. Charles earned numerous awards and greatly influenced
the pool industry with his dedication and hard work.
He was a faithful and active member of Brazosport Baptist Temple until
his death. He loved hunting, fishing, and tinkering in his shop.
Charles passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side.
Charles is survived by his wife of 44 years, Monika; sons, Lynn Forrest
and wife, Angie, of Brazoria and Andy Forrest and wife, Kim, of
Angleton; three grandchildren, Abby, Katy, and Randall; and his sister,
Linda Forrest Sheffield and husband, Don, of Channelview.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother,
Harland Forrest.
Pallbearers will be Cole Crisp, Colby Crisp, Tom Driscoll, Donny Dosser,
Tyler Forrest, Rik Hutson, Kelly Lewis and Paul Murry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Andres Curiel, Felipe Curiel, Farris
Lenamon, Sam Sembhi, Tony Sembhi, Duane Wicke, and employees of Aqua
Classic Pools and Spas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brazosport Baptist Temple
Building Fund, 1203 CR 205, Angleton, Tx. 77515.
The Forrest Family would like to extend special thanks to numerous
family and friends who have given them such tremendous support during
Charles’ valiant struggle with cancer. With heartfelt gratitude they
would like to recognize the doctors and nurses of Angleton-Danbury
Hospital for their remarkable care, their church family of Brazosport
Baptist Temple for their countless prayers and words of comfort, and
their dear friends, Jeff and Lynn Crisp for their love and support.

FRANKLIN, MORGAN WESLEY "WES"
BAY CITY - Morgan Wesley "Wes" Franklin, 85, of Bay City, died
Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003.
He was born Feb. 21, 1918, in Gorman, to the late John and Ora Octive
Godwin Franklin. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S.
Navy. He was a member and deacon of First Christian Church and was a
retired supervisor with Phillips with 45 years of service.
Survivors: wife, Elizabeth Averett Franklin; daughters, Beverly Ann
Franklin-Stevens of Towanda, Kan., and Becky Hassebroek of Fairbanks,
Alaska; sister, Billie Jo Tevebaugh of Amarillo; brothers, Elmo Franklin
of California and Jim Wilson of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; 18
great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, the Rev.
Arden Aldridge officiating.
Burial with military honors by P.H. Parker VFW Post No. 2438 will be at
Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City,

Elizabeth Averett Franklin
(September 13, 1921 - November 16, 2009)
Elizabeth Averett Franklin, of Bay City,
departed this life to join her beloved husband “Wes” on Monday,
November 16th, 2009. Elizabeth had lived in Bay City for the past 60
years. She was born September 13th, 1921, in Moultrie, Georgia, to
the late Dock Gerome and Virginia Averett. She grew up in Moultrie
with her sisters Myrtle Weeks, Louise Harden, Georgia Welton,
Lucille Flowers, and Mary Jane Turney.
After graduating from high school in
Moultrie, she went to Dumas, Texas, to live with her sister Lucille
and that’s where she met Morgan Wesley “Wes” Franklin. It was Love
at first sight and she never had any doubt that’s who she wanted to
live the rest of her life with. They were married in Phillips,
Texas, on February 28th, 1942, and celebrated their 61st anniversary
in 2003 shortly before Wes passed away.
While Wes served his country in the U.
S. Navy, Elizabeth followed him wherever he was stationed in order
to be with him. After Wes’ honorable discharge from the Navy, they
settled in Borger, Texas, where Wes went to work for Phillips
Petroleum Company. Shortly thereafter, they were transferred to
Phillips at Old Ocean and they moved to Bay City where they happily
lived the rest of their lives.
Elizabeth worked for many years at The
Smart Shop on the square and later at Hildred Hines’ children’s
clothing store. She loved clothes and jewelry – she was a wonderful
seamstress, a talented artist, and a Great Cook! She always put her
family’s needs before hers – many a night she would be known to sit
up at her sewing machine to make sure her daughters had a new dress
to wear the following day.
She was an intense person – once you
were her friend you lasted forever. There was nothing she couldn’t
accomplish once she set her mind to it. She was headstrong and
“feisty” and full of life. She was extremely protective of her
family. She will be greatly missed.
Elizabeth loved her daughters Beverly
Ann Franklin of Huntsville, Texas, Becky Hassebroek and husband Marv
Hassebroek of Fairbanks, Alaska, and her “just like a daughter”
Susan Longoria of Bay City, Texas. Her extended family includes
grandchildren Kelley and Michael Duvall and E. Wayne Self II of
Payson, AZ; Bob and Mona Bergey, Melanie and Larry Hinzman, Marcie
and Dan Moody, and Mark and Renee Hassebroek, all of Fairbanks,
Alaska; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth will be laid to rest next to
her beloved Wes at
Roselawn
Memorial Park
in Van Vleck. Viewing will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Taylor Bros
Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, November 18th, with services to
be held on Thursday morning, November 19th, at 11:00 AM at the First
Christian Church where she was a long time member, with the Rev. Tom
Quirk officiating. Please join her family and friends in celebrating
her life. Those wishing to make memorial contributions can do so to
the Elizabeth Franklin Fund at the First Christian Church.

FRANKSON, JOHN EDWARD
John Edward Frankson, 82, of Palacios, Carancahua Community, died August
22, 2004.
He was born July 24, 1922 in Carancahua to the late Lloyd Edward and
Leta Lee Linville Frankson.
Mr. Frankson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of
Palacios and was a lifelong resident of the Carancahua Community. He was
a pilot in the US Army Air Forces during WWII, a member of the Mustang
Square Dancers club, and he was a rancher.
Survivors include: sister-in-law, JoBeth Frankson of Palacios, Texas;
nephew, John C. Frankson and wife Dawna and their children, Eric
Frankson and Kimberly Hanz, and nephew David A. Frankson Jr. and his
wife Pattie and their children, Kenneth, Cheryl and Kelli Frankson all
of the Carancahua Community.
He was preceded in death by his brother David A. Frankson Sr.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2004, at
the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hollie Brisco
officiating. Interment will follow at the Palacios Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Pete Griffith, Galen Johnson, Troy Shimek, Cody Adams,
Harry Frankson, and Marvin Stuhrenberg. Honorary pallbearers are the
Friends at the Dairy Queen and the Mustang Square Dancers Club.

 FRANZINA, NORMAN LEE
BAY CITY - Norman Lee Franzina, 82, of Bay City, died Thursday, Jan. 6,
2005.
He was born April 21, 1923, in West Columbia, to Leo J. and Sophie
Kolochney Franzina. He was the owner of Franzina Water Well Service, a
veteran of the U.S. Army and World War II, and a life member of VFW Post
2438 in Bay City.
Survivors: sister, Julia Ford of Bay City, and brother, Cecil R.
Franzina of Sulphur Bluff.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Roselawn Memorial Park in
Van Vleck, the Rev. Tom Morgan officiating. Military honors will be
presented by Philip H. Parker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2438 of Bay

FRIEZE, BILLIE MAURICE
Billie Maurice Frieze of Refugio, Texas, died on Oct. 30, 2000. He was
born in Clemville, Texas on Dec. 6, 1920. Services will be held at 10
a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000 at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Refugio,
Texas, with Lance Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn
Cemetery in Van Vleck, Texas.
He is survived by: wife Linda Frieze of Refugio, daughter, Sharon Oliver
of Victoria; sister, Mary Evelyn Frieze Boatwright of Glenflora, Texas;
and three grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Fussell
Frieze and Mary Sherrer Pop.
Has a member of the Masonic Lodge and a veteran of the Korean War. he
was occupied by the United Gas Pipeline for 35 years as a Measurement
Technician before he retired. He attended the First Baptist Church in
Refugio.
