I O O F (International Order of Odd Fellows) - caption: Old IOOF Building builty by the late J.A. Amis in 1928. The Charlie Robertson Station now occupies this site. Note: The big old building was right across the side street from the Amis house, and it burned to the ground the night before mother and I moved to Conroe to join Daddy, who was the new county agent for Montgomery County. That was in 1928; I had waked up in the middle of the night and the fire was raging. Everything was lit up. It seems to me they decided the fire started from a closet of oily rags in the upstairs, where the Odd Fellows' Lodge was. ---Carolyn Glass Warren, July 2003
