1915 Storm

An Electrical and Wind Storm

A severe electrical and wind storm visited Rains
county Friday morning about 3 or 4 o'clock, accompanied
by a big rain, and reports reaching town show that
considerable damage was done.  The lighting was continuous
for two or three hours and attracted many to their storm
cellars.  The following damages have been reported:

Lightning struck the back door of Grover Stuart's
residence, in the north part of town, tearing the screen
off, but the damage was slight.

In the Willow Springs community Mrs. T.B. Orear lost a
fine mare, and her son, Sam, lost a colt, both killed
by lightning.

Lightning killed a stallion for Ad Byrum south of town.

Fred Titsworth, across Lake Fork, lost two mules.

The barn on the D.J. Nabors farm north of town was burned,
and Mr. Koon, who lives on the place, lost two or three
midlings of meat and a couple of hams.  Mr. Koon had his
meat stored in the barn.

The wind turned Lon Braziel's smoke house over south of
town, and Ed Turner, a mile and a half east of town, had
a shed and a feed house blown over.
