John, 85 of Floyd, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at his home. He was a member
of Floyd United Methodist Church. He was known for his love of the Lord, his
family and antiques. He will be sadly missed by family and friends for his
knowledge of Floyd County and its history. Mr. Keith was preceded in death by
his wife of 62 years, Josie Alderman Keith; son, Lonnie R. Keith; and
grandson, Kenneth R. Keith. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jack
and Delories Keith, of Floyd; five daughters and
sons-in-laws, Dorothy and Olen Martin, Barbara and John Bolick,
all of Roanoke, Betty and Ollie Moles, of Willis, Linda and Ewell Hodges, of
Floyd, Susan and Buford Jessup, of Laurel Fork; daughter-in-law, Phyllis
Keith, of Willis; sister and brother-in-law, Lilly and Howard Minch, of
Portland, Ind.; 23 grandchildren; 17 step grandchildren; five step
great-grandchildren; five step great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services
will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Floyd United Methodist Church with Rev. Donald E.
Stansell officiating. Burial will follow in Topeco
Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the
Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd. And Now Abideth Faith,

Minch, 87, 1124 Meadow Lane, Portland, died Monday at Persimmon Ridge in
Portland. Born in Floyd, Va., to Jackson and Martha Keith, she was preceded
in death in 1962 by her first husband Otis Caldwell whom she married in 1939.
She was then preceded in death on Sept. 28, 2008, by her husband Howard
Minch, whom she married on July 1, 1966. Retiring from C.T.S. in Berne in
1974, she had also worked at Jay Garment. She was a member of First Church of
the Nazarene, Portland. Surviving are a son, Ron Caldwell, Union City; a
daughter, Sue Geeting, Portland; five grandchildren
and several great and great-great-grandchildren. Services are Saturday at 11
a.m. at Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Arnold officiating.
Burial will be in Gravel Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 10 to 11
a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be sent to the donor's choice.
