Flora Ethel Keith Harmon
Sutherland Peacemaker, 90 years old, of Alum Ridge, Va., passed away on
September 14, 2019, at Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg, Va.
She was born to Dorothy Mae
Harman Keith and George Amos Keith on April 18, 1929.
She was preceded in death by
her husbands, Harvey J. Harmon and John M Sutherland; her parents, George
and Dorothy Keith; two sisters, Beulah Mae Harman and Virgil Alice Huff; a
brother, George Keith Jr; one granddaughter, Susan Lynn Roop; and one
daughter-in-law, Linda Duncan Sutherland.
Those left to remember her
include her husband of 36 years, Ross Peacemaker of Alum Ridge, Va.; his
son, David Ross Peacemaker of Charlotte, N.C., and his daughter, Vonnie
Smith (Jimmy) of New Market, Va.; a son, John W. Sutherland of Alum Ridge,
Va.; four daughters, Mary Sutherland Underwood (Billy) of Willis, Va., Ruth
Ann Harmon Boothe (Shirley) of Copper Valley, Va., Wilma Lee Harmon
Simpkins (Bill) of Dublin, Va., and Judy Harmon Roop (Cecil) of Alum Ridge,
Va.; two sisters, Lucille Hall (Lloyd) of Christiansburg, Va., and Corine
Sowers of Floyd, Va.; one brother, Wayne Keith (Racene) of Floyd, Va.; and
two very special friends, Starr Akers of Riner, Va., and Martha Chaney of
Riner, Va. Ethel and Ross have a total of 15 grandchildren, 34
great-grandchildren, six great great-grandchildren, and several nieces and
nephews.
Visitation was held at Gardner
Funeral Home in Floyd, Va., from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral followed
at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. Burial followed at the Alum
Ridge Community Church cemetery in Alum Ridge, Va. The Rev. Clyde Bishop and
the Rev. Jason Pratt conducted the service. A meal was provided for the
family at the Floyd Church of God in Floyd, Va., after the burial. Online

John Morgan Sutherland, Jr., better known as (The
Strawberry Man), 88, of Riner, passed away Friday, July 27, 2007. He was
preceded in death by a granddaughter, Susan Roop. Survivors are son and
daughter-in-law, John W., III and Linda Sutherland of Riner; daughters and
sons-in-law, Mary and Billy Underwood of Willis, Ruth and Shirley Boothe of
Radford, Wilma Lee and Bill Simpkins of Dublin, Judy and Cecil Roop of
Floyd; grandchildren, John R. Sutherland, IV, David L. Altizer, Eva
Harding, Lori Reed, Frank Boothe, Scott Boothe, Nancy Harman, Terry
Osborne, Carla Vaden, Amy Shay, Kenny Roop; 24 great-grandchildren; two
great great-grandchildren; special friend, Gene Dixon. Funeral services
will be 4 p.m. Tuesday July 31, 2007 at Alum Ridge Community Church, with
the Rev. Eli Yoder officiating. Interment will follow at Alum Ridge
Community Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the funeral service
at the church. Arrangements by Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.

parents and siblings.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, Edgar and Betty Duncan.
She is survived by her
husband, John Sutherland; son, John Randolph, IV (Mary Beth) and daughter,
Lori (Nick) Charles; grandchildren, Dakota, Tanner, MaKenna, and Brayden
Reed, Jade and Sophie Sutherland; brother, Eugene (Robin) Duncan; sister,
Judy Ann Lester; nieces, Melissa (David) Mathis, Angie (Anthony) Hixon,
Jenny (Robbie) Bain, Kayla Duncan, Summer Duncan, and Breanna Sowers;
nephews David (Frances) Brown, Shannon Ratcliffe, and Wesley Duncan; aunts,
Ester Griffith, Rosie (Gene) Altizer, Bernice (Russell) Akers, Ruth (James)
Moran; uncles, Marlie (Thelma) Duncan, Edward Altizer, Teddy Altizer,
Tazewell Altizer, Lawrence (Marti) Altizer, Phillip (Norma) Altizer, Tommy
Altizer; mother-in-law Ethel (Ross) Peacemaker; sisters-in-laws, Mary
(Billy) Underwood, Ruth Ann (Shirley) Boothe, Wilma Lee (Bill) Simpkins,

A funeral service was held at
2 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Alum Ridge Community Church. Interment
followed in the Alum Ridge Community Church Cemetery. The family received
friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, January 1, 2015 at the Maberry Funeral
Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alum Ridge
