Alice
Florence “Allie” Phillips, 1876 – 1902, d/o Robert W. Jr & Alla
"Alley" (Wade) Phillips. [Phillips_RobertWSr_2wives]
Mrs
Allie Phillips Quesenberry 1876 - 1902 (Courtesy of The Floyd Press)
On the morning of December 17, 1902, Mrs. Allie
Quesenberry, wife of Alfred Quesenberry, died at her home. Mrs. Quesenberry
was born in Floyd County, Virginia on April 29, 1876, a daughter of Robert
W & Allie Wade Phillips.
She was survived by her husband; three young children, one infant.;
Nebrasks Quesenberry, Rosa Quesenberry and two brothers, Nathan Phillips,
and Robert "Lee" Phillips; one sister, Mrs William Clay (Delphia)
Strong, her father,
Robert W Phillips; her stepmother Mrs. Lutitia McGrady
Phillips.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Phillips; her mother, Allie
Wade Phillips. Burial was in the family cemetery, (Lee Phillips Cemetery)
at Indian Valley.
She died of consumption. She had been in ill health for quiet a while. She
bore her sickness with meelness and patience, being designed to the will of
the Lord. A while before she died, she exclaimed to those at her bedside,
that the Lord had come. "My sweet Lord has come. Oh, I feel so good;
it won't be long 'till I will come home to dwell with my dear mother in
Heaven." She then began to sing "Her Lords Song". She ask
those around her bedside to join her in her song.
She leaves a husband who will no doubt soon follow her with the same
disease; three children, a father, two brothers, and a sister.
"Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord"
Written by a Brother.
