John Duncan Family Cemetery, his homeplace, off Dulaney Rd NW (SR 814), Alum Ridge District, Floyd Co., VA. Access is by Dulaney Road NW (off White Rock Road NW). Take Dulaney Rd down a hill until you reach the “End of State Maintenance” sign. The road is overgrown beyond this point. Walk approximately 800 yards, cross the creek, and immediately turn right onto an old logging road. Then walk 300 yards straight up the ridge. This is a steep 45 degree climb and will take some time. This cemetery was originally documented shortly after the
surrounding timber had been harvested. At that time the cemetery overlooked
the original homestead. After 45+ years the trees have regrown
into a dense forest shading out most undergrowth. |

There are only three interments in this
family plot located on the ridge above the John Duncan homeplace. John’s second
wife, Lucy Goad Duncan, and a baby are buried here but their graves were
unmarked when copied in 1976. John was 1st married to Reany Ann Hill
whom was buried in the cemetery near the road (740).
