BORAKER, Charles T., age 73, of Blaine, passed away in a local hospital, Thursday, October 6, (1949) following a lingering illness. Mr. Boraker had been a resident of Ferndale for 37 years prior to moving to Blaine 3 years ago. Surviving relatives include his wife, Ella; two sons, Jewell, of Ferndale, and Alvon, of Seattle; four daughters, Mrs. Ruth Southland, of Blaine, Mrs. Hilda Olsen, of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Dorothy Finley, of Prineville, Ore., and Mrs. Mildred Butterworth, of Bellingham; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Binning, of Santa Ana, California. Funeral services were conducted within the Monroe Mortuary in Ferndale, Monday, October 10 at 1 p.m. with the Revs. Alvor Lofdahl and John Baker officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

BORAKER, Ella May of Blaine passed away Monday, December 18, (1972). Mrs. Boraker was 89 years old at the time of her death. She had lived in Whatcom County for 67 years and held membership with the Assembly of God Church. Surviving her are four daughters, Ruth Southland of Blaine, Hilda Olson of Fresno, Calif., Dorothy Finley of Prineville, Ore., and Mildred Butterworth of Bellingham; a son, Eldon of Everett; two sisters, Pearl Hartin of Caseyville, Ill., and Lota Tylor of Fresno; 20 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Moles Funeral Home directed the services.

BORCHARDT, Fred F., age 76, of 1919 Eldridge Ave. passed away in a local rest home Saturday, Feb. 27, (1960). Mr. Borchardt had been a 42 year resident of this community and was a retired Barber. Surviving relatives are one daughter, Mrs. I. M. Stark and four grandchildren of Bellingham; four brothers, John and Henry Borchardt of Bellingham, Richard of Salida, Calif., and Walter of Toppenish, Wash., also nieces and nephews. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Dr. Margaret W. Kupfer, Wednesday, March 2, at 3 p.m., followed by cremation.

BORCHARDT, Henry C., age 76, 2605 F Street, passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, June 5, (1963). Mr. Borchardt was a sixty-one year resident of this community, where he was employed by The Bellingham Herald for fifty-nine years as a Linotype Operator, prior to his retirement. He attended the Congregational Church, was a member of Bellingham Lodge No. 194, B.P.O.E., and was a member of the International Typographical Union. Survivors are his widow, Mildred, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Richard N. Miller, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Robert E. Carney, Mount Vernon; five grandchildren; two brothers, Richard of Salida, Calif., and Walter of Walla Walla. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Don S. Lamka Friday, June 7 at 4:30 p.m., followed by cremation. BORCHARDT, John C., age 79, of 1577 Northwest Road, passed away in a local sanitarium Friday, Sept. 2, (1960). A resident of Bellingham for the past 58 years, Mr. Borchardt was formerly owner and operator of the Union Iron Works; was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church; was a member and Past Grange Master of the North Bellingham Grange; was a member of the B. P. O. Elks Lodge No. 194. Survivors are three brothers, Henry, of Bellingham, Richard, of Salida, Calif. and Walter, of Toppenish; numerous nieces and nephews including Mrs. I. M. Stark, of Bellingham. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Pastor E. M. Butenshon Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 1:30 p.m. Final resting place Bay View Cemetery.

BORCHERS, Grace E., 92, of Bellingham, died Saturday, July 29, 1995 at St. Joseph Hospital. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, followed by a funeral at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Murphy officiating, at Greenacres Funeral Home. Ritualistic services will be by the Maple Leaf Chapter No. 58 O.E.S. Mrs. Borchers was born May 3, 1903, to E. H. and Deborah Kelly Nash in Friday Harbor. She married Louis A. Borchers in 1925 in Friday Harbor. They moved to Bellingham that year and she had lived here since then. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bellingham. She was past matron, past deputy instructor and 71-year member of the Maple Leaf Chapter No. 58 O.E.S., and was a member of the Druza Club. Mrs. Borchers was preceded in death by her husband in 1964. Survivors include sons Curtis Borchers of Washington Island, Wis., and Donald E. Borchers of Seattle; sisters Martha Gubelman of Friday Harbor and Mary Skrivanich of Gig Harbor; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

BORCHERS, Louis A., age 68, 921 Key Street, passed away in a local hospital Monday, January 6, (1964). Mr. Borchers was a retired dispatcher for Puget Sound Power & Light and had resided here the past 39 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; Whatcom Lodge No. 151, F.&A.M.; Maple Leaf Chapter No. 58, O.E.S.; Electrical Workers Union, Local No. 77, and a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his widow, Grace E., at home; three sons, Donald E., Mercer Island; Robert L., Altadena, Cal.; Curtis E., Little Rock, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Leila Irwin, Seattle; three nieces and one nephew. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Rev. Arthur Bezanson and Officers of Whatcom Lodge No. 151, F.&A.M., Friday, January 10 at 1:00 p.m. Final resting place Greenacres Memorial Park.

BORDE, Arthur - A celebration of life for Arthur "Fay" Borde of Bellingham will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at his daughter's home in Birch Bay Village. Family and friends are welcome. Mr. Borde died Tuesday, March 14, 2000. He was 84. Born Oct. 26, 1915 in Glenwood, he had been a Bellingham resident since 1953. When he was 18, he was in an accident that doctors said he would not survive. In his youth, he traveled, was a boxer and a cowboy and worked for a carnival. In 1934 he married Cora Jones and they were married for 60 years. She died in 1994. After moving to Bellingham, he worked as a painter. Mr. Borde was a member of the Painters Union and Bellingham Elks Club. His great love was fishing the rivers of Whatcom and Skagit counties. He also enjoyed cribbage - when he won. Survivors include daughter Colleen Koplowitz of Blaine, son Raymond Borde of Vancouver, Wash.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Greenacres Funeral Home of Ferndale.

BORDE, Cora Agnes - A service for Cora Agnes Borde of Bellingham will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Westford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Gibbs officiating. Mrs. Borde died Sunday, Nov. 27, 1994, at Sehome Park Care Center. She was 80. Born Feb. 17, 1914, to Anne Smart and John Jones in Mission City, B.C., she married Arthur Borde on Nov. 22, 1934, in Reno, Nev. She lived in Bellingham for 41 years and was a member of St. Anne's Guild and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Survivors include her husband of Bellingham, daughter Colleen Koplowitz of Blaine, son Raymond Borde of Mukilteo and seven grandchildren.

BORDEN, Estelle Lynn - In loving memory of Estelle Lynn Borden Born Sept. 7th 1963 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Estelle loved to do gardening, go fishing and camping. Estelle will be greatly missed not only by her family but by the numerous people she so willingly gave her time and talents to, never asking for anything in return. She was a member of the Womens Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 86 where she contributed countless hours of service. She is survived by her loving husband George Borden III; mother Marie Gates; sisters Marie Hooper and Jan Little and many other family members. There will be funeral services at Greenacres at 2 p.m. on Fri. June 16th, and a potluck memorial service will follow at the Blaine American Legion Post 86 at 8151 Blaine Rd.

BORDEN, Fernanda Sarah, "Fritz" age 89, of Bellingham, passed away Fri., Jan. 11, 2002, at her home. She was born Aug. 15, 1912, in Walla Walla and grew up on a large ranch in Attalia, WA. She graduated from Whitman College with a degree in Elementary Education and there she met her future husband, George Rome Borden, Jr. They married and moved to Blaine in 1935. They purchased the Liberty Movie Theatre in 1936 and in 1942 bought the Ivan L. Theatre which was then renamed the Am-Bc Theatre. In 1948, they built the Sea Vue Theatre, which Fritz and George owned and operated for 43 years, along with the Am-Bc . They purchased a home on Peace Portal Drive & Harrison Avenue which was a social gathering place through the 1950's - 1970's. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Blaine and active in Ladies Aid. Fritz was a vital part of the Den Mother's Society of The Cub Scouts of America. During this time, she was also involved in the Eastern Star Organization of Blaine and Ferndale Chapter #223. She also was the Secretary of the Blaine Planning Commission. Fritz became an avid golfer in 1970 and the highlight of her golfing career, was when she got a hole-in-one at Birch Bay Golf Course in 1975. She won a trophy and a trip to a golf tournament in Hawaii. She came in Second Place and received another trophy. In 1982, she moved to Bellingham and became an active member of the Bellingham Golf & Country Club. She was a baseball fan and always watched the World Series and in later years became a Mariners fan. Birdwatching and the change of seasons was a constant joy to her. Fritz was active and supportive in her children's and grandchildren's lives. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Borden parents, Edgar and Elizabeth Vogel brother, Leo F. Vogel and grandson, Jerry MacMillan. Survived by her children: Bettie Borden Bengert of Blaine, Dianna C. Borden of Blaine, George Borden & wife Estelle of Bellingham and Billie Rowell & husband Bruce of Blaine 8 grandchildren 11 great-grand-children and two great great-grandchildren. Fritz was a loving and kind friend, mother and grandmother and will be truly missed by all those who knew her. She was one of the last "Great Ladies" of her time. A memorial service will be held Fri., Jan. 18, 1 p.m. in Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Walter officiating. Inurnment will be at Greenacres Memorial Park.

BORDEN, George Sr., age 77, of Blaine, passed away Monday Sept. 15, (1958) in an Ellensburg hospital following a short illness. He was a member of the Congregational Church and the Kulshan Masonic Lodge in Blaine. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mae Borden of Blaine, George Borden Jr. of Blaine; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one sister, in South Dakota. Following cremation a memorial service will be held at the Congregational Church, Thursday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m.

BORDEN, George R. - Funeral services for George R. Borden, 59, Blaine, will be 2 p.m. Monday in Veroske's McKinney Funeral Home. He died Saturday (March 31, 1973). Mr. Borden was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was among the founders of the Blaine Lions Club. He moved to Blaine in 1936 and was owner of the SeaVue and Am-BC theaters as well as three theaters in British Columbia. He was a member of the Congregational Church. Survivors include the widow Fernanda; a son George of Blaine; three daughters, Bettie McMillian of Vancouver, B.C.; Diania McDade of Custer and Billie Borden at home; and seven grandchildren.

BORDEN, George Rome, III, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2007. He was born on April 14, 1945 in Bellingham, WA to George and Fritz Borden, Jr. of Blaine. George was a very active young man. He belonged to the Cub Scouts of America, The Boy Scouts, and the Eagle Scouts. George was a DeMolay for the Masonic Order and he graduated from Blaine High School in 1963. He had a wonderful childhood filled with friends, and the Borden household was always bustling with activity. George loved working on cars and spent his youth always rebuilding hot rods or helping friends with their car projects. He attended college in Vancouver, WA and at Skagit Valley Jr. College in Mt. Vernon, earning an AA degree. He served in the U.S. Army during the war in Vietnam, and was an active member of the American Legion. George worked as the owner-operator of the Sea Vue Theatre in Blaine from 1975-1983. He built his home on "D" Street in the 1970's, along with several other homes, and a business complex in Blaine, and he remodeled many other homes in the Blaine and Ferndale areas throughout the years. George also sold real estate in Skagit County in the 1980's and 90's. George had a delicious sense of humor, and a wonderful, infectious laugh. He enjoyed fishing, camping and playing the guitar and he loved to invent things. George also loved to fly. He was an exceptional brother, father, and friend to many, and he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Fritz; sister Bettie Borden Bengert; and his wife Estelle Borden. He is survived by sisters Dianna Borden and Billie Rowell (Bruce) of Blaine; exwife Candace Rappaport; son George Rome Borden IV (Faye) of Oregon; daughter Julie Borden of Surrey, B.C.; and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. The family would especially like to thank Terry Betts, Warner Fosberg, Alan and Sharon Foster, and George's many friends from the American Legion, Post 86 for their love and supportive friendships this past difficult year, following the death of George's beloved wife Estelle. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at 2 p.m in the Moles-Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel.

BORDEN, Ida M., age 78, of 913 Wilson Street, passed away in a local hospital on Monday, July 2, (1962). Mrs. Borden had resided in this community for the past fifty years, and was a member of the Salvation Army, and Daughters of America. Survivors are a niece and nephews, including G. Milton Elliott of Bellingham. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by Capt. Jack Brown on Thursday, July 5 at 3:00 p.m. Final resting place Bay View.

BORDEN, Mae Pearce, age 80 of Blaine passed away Oct. 1, 1960 in a Bellingham hospital. Mrs. Borden was born January 20, 1880 in New Jersey, and came to Blaine in 1942 from Snoqualmie Falls. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Blaine and the Order of Eastern Star of Blaine, also the Daughters of the Nile and the Zenobia Club of Bellingham. Mrs. Borden is survived by 1 son, George R. Borden Jr. of Bellingham; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. in the Blaine Congregational Church with the Rev. Evan David officiating, under the direction of the McKinney Funeral Home.

BORDEN, Samuel R., age 61, of 1617 Fairhaven Street, passed away in a local hospital Monday, June 14, (1948). Mr. Borden had resided in this community for the past 40 years and was an operating engineer for the Clyde Croy Construction Co. Deceased was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Daughters of America, and International Operating Engineers, of Seattle. Surviving relatives are the widow, Ida, at home; one brother, Leet Elliott, of Shasta, Calif.; two nephews, Joe and Milton Elliott, of Bellingham, and cousins, Mr. and Mrs Charles Simmons, of Sapho, Wash. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. George A. Arthur Wednesday, June 16, at 3:03 (sic) p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

BORDER, David N., 50 6058 Buelah Ave., Ferndale, died Saturday at home. He was born Oct. 5, 1934, in Erie, Ill., and lived in Ferndale for 18 years. He was a past member of the Ferndale Kiwanis Club and Intalco Christian Fellowship. He was also a member of the Antique Auto Restorers of Bellingham, the Northwest Steelheaders and Intalco Golf League. He is survived by his wife, Colleen, one sister, two daughters, three brothers and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 10:30 a.m. at Moles Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Moles Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wilfred Gunderson officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery, Everett.

BORDERUD, Winifred E. - Services for Blaine native Winifred E. Borderud, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Westford Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Borderud, of Tacoma, died Thursday (Dec. 15, 1988) in Tacoma General Hospital. A lifelong homemaker, she was born May 6, 1904 in Blaine and graduated from Blaine High School in 1922. She lived in Blaine the first 22 years of her life before moving to Tacoma. Survivors include her brother William C. Quint (sic) of Seattle, and numerous nieces. Arrangements are by Westford Funeral Home.

BORDIGNON, Frank J., age 58, passed away at the family home, 1446 Sunset Avenue, Friday, August 23, (1946). Mr. Bordignon had been a resident of this community for the past 24 years and leaves to survive his widow, Mary B., and one son, Frank J. Jr., both at home; three sisters in Italy, and one nephew, Frank J. Bordignon, of San Francisco, Calif. BOREN, Ruben L., age 70, of Deming passed away in a local hospital Thursday, Nov. 15, (1956). Mr. Boren had resided in that community for the past 50 years; had attended the Deming Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Bellingham Camera Club and Photographers Association. Surviving relatives are his widow, Pearl and one son, Wilfred both at home; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Thompson of Olympia; two grandchildren; one brother, Dye, of Carpenteria, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Jim Watson of Carpenteria, Calif., and Mrs. Tom Guffey of Sedro Woolley, also numerous nieces and nephews. BORG, Dolly F., age 38 of Marysville, died Aug. 23, 1979 in an Everett hospital. Born April 25, 1941 at Bellingham, where she was raised and graduated from high school. Lived in Marysville for the past 15 years. She was a member of the O.E.S. Afton Chapter 103, Marysville & Everett YMCA Auxiliary. She leaves her husband, Herbert at home; son, David & daughter, Debra, both at home. Funeral services Mon., Aug. 27, 1979, 11 a.m. at Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville. BORG, Sadie L., age 72, of 2415 D Street, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, July 22, (1952). Mrs. Borg had resided in Bellingham for the past 11 years and was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church. Surviving relatives include two sons, Alfred Borg, of Champaign, Ill., and Theodore Borg, of Pateros, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; five brothers, A. F. Elsbree, of Lynden, J. W. Elsbree, of Bellingham, C. F. Elsbree, of Tacoma, A. G. Elsbree, of Seattle, and E. E. Elsbree, of Lake Stevens, Wash., and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. BORGER, Alice Cleona, age 31, of Route 2, Sedro Woolley, passed away at a Burlington hospital, Tuesday, November 28, (1950) following a short illness. Surviving relatives include her husband, Arnold, and two sons, Douglas and Garry Burl, all at home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hoy, of Route 2, Sedro Woolley; a sister, Mrs. Ruth White, of Sultan; two brothers, Jim Hoy, of Route 5, Bellingham, and Corporal Billie D. BORGESON, Francis R., 64, of Sedro Woolley, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, May 12, (1957). Mr. Borgeson had resided in Skagit and Whatcom Counties his entire life and leaves to survive one brother, Milton C. and one sister, Mrs. Eugene M. Fletcher, both of Seattle. BORGESON, Milton C. - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Adams Forkner Funeral Home in Seattle for Milton C. Borgeson, a native of Bellingham who died Sunday (December 29, 1963) in a Seattle hospital at the age of 73. Graveside services at 3 p.m. Friday will be held at Bay View Cemetery. Mr. Borgeson went to Seattle 18 years ago from Arlington, where he had operated a chicken ranch for 10 years. He was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Florence B. Fletcher of Seattle, with whom he lived.

BORGSTEN, Christine H., age 83 years, 2130 Franklin Street, passed away at her home, Monday, October 13, (1947) following a lingering illness. Born in Sweden she came to Custer forty-two years ago where she resided until 1929 when she moved to Bellingham. Mrs. Borgsten is survived by her husband, Haaken; one son Simon,of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Emma Gardiner, Tacoma, Mrs. Anna Kramer, Custer; one nephew, Olaf Johnson, Bellingham; three grandchildren, a sister in Sweden, and other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, October 16, at 2 p.m. from the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

BORGSTEN, Hoken S., age 90, of 2130 Franklin, passed away at home Monday, March 10th, (1952), following a lengthy illness. Mr. Borgsten had been a former resident of Custer, Wash. He had lived in Bellingham for the past 23 years. He is survived by one son, Simon Borgsten at home; one daughter, Emma Gardner, Tacoma; two grandchildren and a brother, in Sweden. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 13, at 2 p.m. from the Monroe chapel at Ferndale, with the Rev. Sylvester Rue officiating. Interment, Woodlawn.

BORGSTROM, Carl E., age 66 years of 1408 E. Victor Street, passed away at the family home, Wednesday, February 19, (1947). Mr. Borgstrom was a retired lumberman and had resided in Bellingham for the past twenty-nine years. He was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church. Mr. Borgstrom leaves to survive him his wife, Mrs. Letta Borgstrom; one son, Harold E., of the city; one daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Anderson, city; one grandson, Harold Edward Borgstrom Jr., city; two brothers, Anton Borgstrom, in Sweden, and Leonard Borgstrom, of Cour d'Alene, Idaho, and one sister, Mrs. Esther Johnson, Lewiston, Idaho. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 22, at 2 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home with Rev. Elsie Johnson, pastor of the Calvary Pentecostal Church officiating. Interment in Bay View.

BORGSTROM, Florence A., age 88, of Yakima, passed away in that city Thursday, May 5, (1949) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Borgstrom had been a resident of Bellingham for 14 years prior to moving to Yakima in February, 1948. She also had resided in Sumas. Mrs. Borgstrom was a member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church of Bellingham. Surviving relatives include one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ralph Bailey, of Yakima; two grandsons, Harold Bailey, of Yakima, and Marcus Bailey, of Ellensburg; one granddaughter, Mrs. Ruth Rolstadt, of Yakima, also eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 7, at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Elsie Johnson officiating. BORGSTROM, Sett, age 62, of Route 1, Ferndale, passed away at his home Wednesday, Jan. 15, (1958) following an extended illness. Mr. Borgstrom had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 34 years, and was a member of the Lutheran Free Church of Ferndale, Ferndale Lodge No. 264, F & AM; Chapter 223 OES, and the Washington Co-Op. he is survived by his wife, Agnes; one son, Doniel at home; two daughters, Mrs. Christine Puckett of Seattle; Mrs. Leda Pendley of Everett; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several brothers and sisters in Sweden. Funeral services will be held in the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale, Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. E. P. Dreyer officiating. Final resting place Woodlawn Cemetery.

BORING, Lloyd V. age 49 who resided at 1609 F Street passed away on Friday April 26, (1963) as a result of an accident. Mr. Boring had resided in Bellingham for the past 19 years. He was a member of the Fishermans Union and B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 194. He leaves to survive his wife Mrs. Irene Boring of the family home, two sons Jack of Bellingham and Franklin L. of Calif. One daughter Mrs. Barbara Webb of Sacramento, Calif. Two sisters Mrs. Thelma Russo, Calif. and Mrs. Stella McAully of Portland. Four grandsons and one grand daughter. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 30 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park.

BORNSTEIN, Charles A., age 96, of 101 Underhill Rd. passed away Sun., Jan. 1, 1989 at his residence. He was retired part owner and officer for some 15 years of Bornstein Seafoods; member of Masonic Lodge and held other business interest in Canada. He leaves to survive 2 daughters, Patricia Louise and husband Cliff Simmons of Everett, Kay and husband Joe Torrontegui of Bellevue; brother, Myer A. Bornstein of Bellingham; sister, Pauline Hoke of Bellingham; 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Sat. Jan. 7 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home followed by private burial on Monday.

BORNSTEIN, Charles B., S/Sgt., age 35 at time of death (1949), on Mount Belveder in Italy, while serving with the Ski Troopers, was returned to Bellingham. Sgt. Bornstein had attended the Whatcom High School and was a graduate of the Port Angeles High School and had been the manager of the Eagles Club in that city before enlisting in the army, April 7, 1942. Surviving is his father, Henry, and one brother, Darrell K., both of Bellingham. Graveside military services will be conducted by the officers of the William Matthews Post No. 1585, V. F. W., Saturday, March 5, at 1:30 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park under the direction of Harlow-Hollingsworth.

BORNSTEIN, Grace T. - Services for Grace T. Bornstein, 90, of 1322 Alabama St., a former bakery worker and a resident of Bellingham since 1981, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Westford Funeral Home. Mrs. Bornstein died Thursday (March 30, 1989) at her home, 1322 Alabama St. She was born Jan. 16, 1899 in San Francisco, where she worked for Langendorf Bakery and was a member of the Bakery and Confectionery Workers' International Union of America. Survivors include a son Milton C. Bornstein of the family home.

BORNSTEIN, Henry Maurice, age 88 of 310 E. Magnolia, passed away Sat. Aug. 28, (1976). Mr. Bornstein was a 60 year resident of this community and worked in and about Bellingham for many years as a shingle weaver. He was the retired manager of the Fish Market at Home Market, was an avid fisherman and hunter and well known for these sports. Later in life he was employed by the Denver Burtenshaw Concessions and was a member of the Culinary Worker & Bartenders Union Local No. 451. He was active at the Old Settlers Picnic at Pioneer Park, Ferndale for many years, member of Bellingham Aeri No. 32 FOE and the Senior Citizens. Surviving 1 son, Darrell, City; 4 brothers, Charles, Morris, Myer, all City; Milton, Las Vegas, Nevada, 2 sisters, Mrs. Pauline Hoke, Mrs. Bee Odell both city, 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Services Tuesday Aug. 31, 10:30 a.m. at the Jones Funeral Home, Mr. Art Olson officiating. Interment Greenacres Memorial Park.

BORNSTEIN, Mildred E., our beloved mother, age 89, of Bellingham, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2005, in a Bellingham care center. She was born in Camas, WA, and grew up in Port Angeles, Washington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Bornstein, Sr. Mildred enjoyed a good game of golf, living on Lake Whatcom, and spending time with her grandchildren and other family and friends. Surviving Mildred are her sons, Darrell Bornstein, Jr., and wife Pia, of Ferndale; Robert Bornstein and wife Janice, of Bellingham; daughter Linda and husband Ed Neilan of Bellingham; niece Carol and husband Dick Pearson of Bellingham; nephew Larry Suslick and wife Barb of Forks, WA; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Greenacres Cemetery.

BORNSTEIN, Milton, age 82, 1322 Alabama, passed away Mon. Sept. 17, 1979 in British Columbia. He was born July 14, 1897 in Bellingham, Wash. He moved from Las Vegas in July of this year. He is survived by 1 son, Milton C. Bornstein of Bellingham, 3 brothers, Charles A., Maurice and Myer A., 1 sister, Mrs. Pauline Hoke, all of City and numerous nieces & nephews. Services will be held Thurs. Sept. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home. Cremation to follow at Greenacres Crematorium.

BORNSTEIN, Milton Charles passed away February 6, 2006, in Bellingham. He was 84, born February 27, 1921, in San Francisco to Milton and Grace (Clifton) Bornstein. Milton entered the Army Air Corp in 1942 as a side gunner on a B17 in England. He survived his plane being shot down over France, and was led to safety by the underground movement in France. Milton moved to Bellingham in 1979, and he retired from Bornstein Seafoods Inc. in 1999. He is preceded in death by his parents. Milton is survived by his aunt, Teresa Bornstein, and many other relatives. The family wishes to thank Mt. Baker Care Center and Summit Place Assisted Living for their wonderful care of Milton. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 10, at 1:00 pm, at Moles Greenacres Chapel.

BORNSTEIN, Myer A., age 88, of 2015 24th St. #77, Bellingham, passed away Wed., May 8, 1991 at St. Joseph Hospital - Main Campus. He was born Aug. 7, 1902 in Bellingham to Charles and Anna Neilsen Bornstein and was a lifetime Bellingham resident. Mr. Bornstein married Teresa Tiscornia on May 17, 1932 in Everett. He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #194, Bellingham; Bellingham Yacht Club; original member of National Fisheries Institute; life member of Knights of Pythias; and founder of Bornstein Seafoods in 1930. He was an avid fisherman. Mr. Bornstein was preceded in death by his son Anton T. Bornstein in May of 1967 and is survived by his wife Teresa C. of the family home; 4 daughters, Joanne Kurtz of Bellingham, Janice Stuhr of Yakima, Myrna Key of Atoka Okla. and Judy Rodriguez of Tustin, Calif.; son Myer J. Bornstein of Bellingham; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister Pauline Hoke of Bellingham; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A funeral service will be held Sat., May 11, 1 p.m. at Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Harold Minkler officiating. Entombment in the Greenacres Memorial Park Mausoleum. BOROUGHS, Charles Melvin, 88, 3223 Greenwood Ave., died Sunday (May 28, 1972) after an extended illness. A resident of Bellingham for four years he had previously lived on Lummi Island 17 years. He was a member of the Congregational Church in Bellingham and a retired railroad employe and auditor for Alaska Railroad. Survivors include the widow, Elizabeth May; and two brothers, Homer of Bellingham and Samuel of Salt Lake City, Utah. Services are pending at Bingham and Jerns Funeral Chapel.

BOROUGHS, Halcy Edna, age 79 of 1310 Easton A, passed away in Seattle Tuesday, April 27, (1976) following a lengthy illness. Born in Athens, Illinois, Mrs. Boroughs had been a resident of this community for the past 60 years, was an active participant in St. James Presbyterian Church as well as numerous community civic clubs and organizations. BOROWIEC, Norman, age 66, of Ferndale, passed away Sun., Nov. 9, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital surrounded by his family and friends. BORROMEO, Sister Mary, age 68, who resided in Ketchikan, Alaska, passed away in that city Monday, Dec. 22, (1958) following an extended illness. Sister Borremeo had resided in Alaska the past two years. She entered the Order of St. Joseph's of Newark in 1918 and spent most of her religious life in hospital work in the Northwest. She leaves to survive her sister, Mrs. Julia Mahoney of County Cork, Ireland; one brother, Cornelius Crowley of Toronto, Canada. Requiem High Mass will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Friday Dec. 26, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Father Thomas R. Hanley as celebrant. BORST, Edward B. - Visitation for Mr. Edward B. Borst of Lynden will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, August 9, at 9:30 a.m. in Monumenta Cemetery in Lynden with Rev. Bert Hitchcock officiating. Mr. Borst died at the Christian Health Care Center on Tuesday, August 6, 2002. He was 95. The son of John and Grace (VanderLaan) Borst, Ed was born in Groningen, The Netherlands on November 17, 1906. In 1908, the family moved to Michigan and then to Lynden in 1925. He was married to Bernice Schipper in Grand Rapida, Michigan on July 22, 1936. In 1942 he was employed by the U.S. Government as a translator and worked for the agency that would later become the CIA. In 1969 he retired and lived in Michigan until he and Bernice moved to Lynden in 1988. Mr. Borst was a member of the Wiser Lake Chapel and enjoyed reading and hike extensively through out the county. It was not unusual to see Ed walking along a county road. He was preceded by his parents, wife Bernice in 1991, and brothers Sam and John. He is survived by his daughter Marilyn Kelley and husband Robert of Lynden; son David Borst and wife Trudy of Paris, Michigan; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

BORTON, Mary Dods, Resident of 206 E. St. NE, Auburn, died suddenly at her home April 20, (1976). Born in Hungary, Oct. 28, 1922, she came to Canada at the age of 3 yr. old, living in Abbotsford, B. C. and the Sumas area, 1931 to 1950, then in Auburn in 1955. Member of the Lady Trainmen. She is survived by one son, James L. Dods of Federal Way; one brother, Steve Dallas of Crescent Beach, B. C.; three sisters, Mrs. John (Margaret) Smith of Renton, Mrs. Mort (Julia) Tribe of Abbotsford, B. C., Mrs. Helen Nagy of Mission, B. C.; one granddaughter, Shannon Lee Dods of Federal Way. BOS, Anna Marie, age 68 of Rt. 1, Sumas passed away suddenly in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Friday, August 31, (1962). She had been a resident of Sumas since 1944 and was a member of the Sumas Christian Reformed Church. Surviving are her husband, Henry, two sons, John H. and George both of Sumas, five daughters, Mrs. Jennie Vischer of Platte, South Dakota, Mrs. Katherine Jeltema of Denver, Colo., Mrs. Margaret Buwalda of Waupum, Wis., Mrs. Jessie Snider of Lynden, Mrs. Francis Bylsma of Santa Marie, Calif., two brothers, John DeJong in Holland and Albert DeJong, Harvey, Ill. Also 32 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Sumas Christian Reformed Church Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Entingh officiating. BOS, Bertha, 87, of 205 South B.C. Ave., Lynden, WA, passed away January 12, 1995 in Lynden. Mrs. Bos was born April 25, 1907 to Henry and Hattie C. (Klein) Muilenburg and has been a Sumas resident since 1941. Mrs. Bos was a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Sumas, the Ladies Bible Study Group and an active member of the Sumas Senior Center. She married John Bos in South Dakota January 1930 and he passed away October 1989. Mrs. Bos is survived by her five daughters, Johanna and her husband Jack Arendse of Burlington; Hattie and her husband Gorden VanWeerdhuizen of Sumas; Katherine and her husband Dayton Willison of Everson, Henrietta and Tony Jansen of Abbotsford, B.C.; Bernita and her husband Joe Bronkema of Sumas; two brothers, Arie Muilenburg and Ray and his wife Jennie Muilenburg both of South Dakota; two sisters, Marie Sterk of South Dakota and Henrietta and her husband Gerrit of Lynden; a sister-in-law, Freida Muilenburg of South Dakota; 29 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 1995 in The Christian Reformed Church of Sumas followed with burial in the Sumas Cemetery officiated by Pastor William Vandenbos. BOS, Evert, age 84 years, passed away in Everett Monday, January 26, (1948). He had been a resident of Everett since 1934, and had previously lived in the Lynden district. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Jacoba Kamperman, Lynden, Mrs. Jennie Staalduine, of Formost, Alberta, Mrs. Len VanderHoek, Abbotsford, B. C.; three sons, John D., Richard J., and Edward J., all in Everett; two brothers in Holland; thirty-three grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. BOS, Henry, age 73 of Sumas, passed away in a local hospital Friday, January 24, (1964) following a short illness. Mr. Bos was a 20 year resident of Sumas and was born in Holland in 1890. He came to new Holland, South Dakota in 1911 and in 1915 was married to Anna Marie, who preceded him in death in 1962. The family moved to Sumas in 1943. BOS, John - Funeral services for John Bos, 87, of 9545 Hill Road, Sumas will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Christian Reformed Church in Sumas, with the Rev. Phillip Kok officiating. Burial will be in Sumas Cemetery after the services. Mr. Bos died Saturday (Oct. 7, 1989) at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born March 17, 1902 in Holland. He had been a resident of Sumas since 1941. Mr. Bos was a warehouseman for many years. He was a member of Teamsters. He also was an avid horseman. He and his wife, Bertha, married in January 1930 in South Dakota. Mr. Bos was a member of Christian Reformed Church of Sumas. Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Johanna Arendse of Burlington, Hattie VanWeerdhuizen of Sumas, Katherine Willison of Everson, Henrietta Jansen of Abbotsford, B.C., and Bernita Bronkema of Sumas; 29 grandchildren; and 53 great-grandchildren. BOS, John H., age 80 of Sumas went to be with his Lord and Savior October 12, 1997. He died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. This was his last wish. John was amazing during his continuing battle with cancer. He was determined to stay on his feet and this determination kept him on his feet to the end. He was born July 20, 1917 in Joubert, South Dakota to Henry and Anna (DeJong) Boss. He served in the U. S. Navy on shipboard during World War II. He was released in 1945 and came to Washington. He married Anne Van Gaalen in Sumas on July 29, 1947. He was a farmer in Sumas until 1974. He then became a cemetery sexton until his retirement in February 1997. He loved to fish and hunt. He was a member of the Sumas Christian Reformed Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jennie Visscher of Platte, South Dakota. John is survived by his wife, Anne, of the family home; two daughters, Charlotte and her husband Herm Bovenkamp, of Ferndale and, Lorraine and her husband Dan Richner, of Everson; two sons, Lloyd and wife Shirley Bos, of Everson and Glenn and his wife Jan Box, of Lynden; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, George and his wife Leona Bos, of Sumas; four sisters, including twin sisters, Margaret Bewalda and husband Sam, of Wisconsin, and Katherine Kronenberg and husband Clary of Denver, Jessie Snider, of Bellingham, and Francis (sic) Tracy and husband Jim, of Bellevue; numerous nephews and nieces. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Jerns LeVeck Funeral Chapel in Bellingham. The graveside service will be 12:00 Thursday, October 16, 1997, in the Sumas Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. in the Sumas Christian Reformed Church, located at Third and Sumas Avenue. BOSLER, Christine, age 86 of 4289 Lummi Shore Rd, Ferndale, passed away Friday, Feb. 1. Mrs. Bosler was a life time resident of the Lummi Reservation and a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church. BOSLER, Norman A. - Rosary services for Norman A. Bosler, 65, 4289 Lummi Shore Rd, Ferndale, will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Moles Funeral Home in Ferndale. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joachim's Catholic Church with burial to follow in Lummi Cemetery. Mr. Bosler, who died Friday (Jan. 8, 1971), has been a resident of the Lummi community for the past 42 years and was a commercial fisherman for many years. He was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church and is survived by the widow Christin; two daughters, Mrs. Norman Cagey of Salem, Ore., and Mrs. Hazel Schumacher of San Gabriel, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Swartz of Duluth, Minn., Mrs. Ida Paulson of Roseau, Minn., and Mrs. Hazel Lawrence of Hibbing, Minn., and four grandchildren.

BOSMA, Henry W. - Graveside services for Henry W. Bosma, 74, of Lynden, will be at 1:15 p.m. Monday at Monumenta Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. at Faith Reformed Church in Lynden, with the Rev. Dick Vriesman officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Gillies Funeral Home. Mr. Bosma, 7062 Guide Meridian Road, Lynden, died Thursday (April 14, 1988) at his home. He was born Sept. 22, 1913, in Whitinsville [sic], Mass., married Wilma Visser there on Aug. 8, 1938, and moved to Ontario, Calif., where he was employed by Douglas Aircraft Co. and worked as a custodian for the Ontario School District. Mr. Bosma moved to Lynden in 1983. He was a member of Faith Reformed Church. Survivors include his wife, Wilma, of the family home; five daughters, Joan Haagsman of San Diego, Hilda Huizenga of Lynden, Ann Rienti of San Bernardino, Calif., Carol Chandler in England and Dorothy Ligtenberg of Chino, Calif.; three sons, Henry Bosma of Ontario, Calif., Martin Bosma of Grass Valley, Calif. and David Bosma of Pomona, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard Bosma, of Massachusetts; and a sister, Dorothy Chuddy, of Rhode Island.

BOSMA, Wilma - Visitation for Wilma Bosma of Lynden will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Gillies Funeral Home. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. Friday in Monumenta Cemetery followed by a funeral at 2 p.m. at Faith Reformed Church with the Revs. Al Honken and Ron Slater officiating. Mrs. Bosma died Sunday, Jan. 26, 1997, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was 78. Born Sept. 19, 1918, to Peter and Sadie Postma Visser in Uxbridge, Mass., she graduated from high school in Colorado. She married Henry Bosma on Aug. 8, 1938, in Whitinsville, Mass. Mrs. Bosma lived in Ontario, Calif., and Bend, Ore., before moving to Lynden in 1983. She was a member of Faith Reformed Church and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988 and by a brother and a sister. Survivors include daughters Hilda Huizenga of Blaine, Joan Haagsma of Escondido, Calif., Ann Banks of Temecula, Calif., Carolyn Chandler of El Cajon, Calif., and Dorothy Ligtenberg of Chino, Calif.; sons Hank Bosma of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Martin Bosma of Grass Valley, Calif., and David Bosma of El Cajon; 27 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

BOSMAN, Edward J., age 26 of 464 E. Wiser Lake Rd., Lynden, passed away on Wed. Feb. 14, 1979. A lifetime county resident, Mr. Bosman had owned & operated Bosman Construction Co. A member of New Life Fellowship, he had attended Lynden Christian High School and was married to Linda Kok in Lynden, on Nov. 26, 1971. Besides his wife Linda he is survived by 2 daughters, Kelly and Stephanie at home, his parents, Mr. & Mrs. John B. Bosman of Lynden, 2 brothers, Richard of Lynden and John of Bellingham, 5 sisters, Mrs. Dolores Heusinkveld and Mrs. Karen Vonhof both of Sioux Center, Iowa, Mrs. Sandi Mehl of Denver, Colorado, Mrs. Evelyn Kloostra of Jenison, Michigan and Miss Lynette Bosman of Lynden, his father and mother-in-law, Mr. & Mrs. Hilbert Kok of Lynden and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted on Sat. Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. in New Life Fellowship with Pastor Ronald Slater officiating. Burial will follow in Monumenta Cemetery. BOSMAN, Gerald A. - Visitation for Gerald A. Bosman of Lynden will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Monumenta Cemetery, followed by a funeral at 2 p.m. at Second Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. Tom Haan officiating and the Revs. Ken Koemen and Marc deWaard participating. Mr. Bosman died at home Monday, July 19, 1999, after an extended illness. He was 46. Born July 17, 1953, to William and Jeanette (Bos) Bosman Sr. in Bellingham, he was a 1971 graduate of Lynden High School and a lifetime resident of Lynden. He married Joan Sebens on Sept. 28, 1973, in Lynden. Mr. Bosman worked at Lynden Sheet Metal Inc. and Barron Heating. In 1983, he began working at Andgar Corp. of Lynden, where he most recently served as an HVAC estimator. He was a volunteer at Whatcom County Fire District No. 3, Northwood Station, and later, after moving to Lynden, volunteered with the Lynden Fire Department. Mr. Bosman was a member and former deacon at Second Christian Reformed Church. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife, of the family home; sons Nathan Bosman of the family home and Monty Bosman of Seattle; daughter Melissa Bosman of the family home; his mother, of Lynden; brothers Ron Bosman, Larry Bosman and Jack Bosman Jr. of Everson; sister Carolyn Weg of Lynden; and many other relatives.

BOSMAN, Henry, age 64 of 1326 VanDyk Rd., Lynden, passed away suddenly Friday, April 9, (1976). A life time resident of Lynden. Mr. Bosman operated a farm on the VanDyk Rd. for many years and was member of the First Christian Reform Church in Lynden. He was also a member of the Puget Sound Antique Tractor Association and was married to Lena VanderHouwen, March 26, 1937 in Yakima. Besides his wife, Lena, he is survived by a son, Delbert and his wife, Pat Bosman in Bellingham; 2 daughters and their husbands, Sheryl and Raymond Boersema in Littleton, Colorado and Marlae and`Douglas Veldkamp in Mt. Vernon; 5 grandchildren; 7 brothers, William, Herman, John, Ben, Albert (Shorty), James and Pete Bosman all of Lynden and 4 sisters, Mrs. Nellie (Wilburn) Terpstra, Mrs. Etta (Clarence) Bode, Mrs. Jenny Bode all of Lynden and Mrs. Esther (John) Rupke, of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Funeral services will be conducted Tues., Apr. 13 at 1 p.m. in the First Christian Reform Church with Rev. Arie Leegwater officiating. Interment will follow in the Monumenta Cemetery. BOSMAN, Ruth R. - Belle Bridal founder Ruth R. Bosman, 68, of 1140 E. Grover St., Lynden, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 1995, at home, after an extended illness. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. noon Wednesday at Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday in Monumenta Cemetery, followed by a funeral at 2 p.m. in the Second Christian Reformed Church in Lynden with the Rev. Tom Haan officiating. Mrs. Bosman was born in Lynden on March 2, 1926, to Dick and Ruby (Zweegman) Rutgers. She attended Lynden Christian schools and married Albert "Shorty" Bosman in Lynden on June 23, 1944. She founded Belle Bridal Shop in Bellingham and ran it for 15 years. She also sold real estate for five years. Mrs. Bosman was a member of Second Christian Reformed Church's Women's Bible study group. She also taught Precept Bible study groups for many years, was a former board member of Whatcom County Teens For Christ and helped raise money for Bibles for India. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ernie Rutgers, in 1993 and son Todd Bosman in 1984. Survivors include her husband of the family home; sons Terry and Tim Bosman, both of Lynden; daughters Cheeta Stremler of Lynden and Mitzi Baldwin of Cheney; twin brother Richard Rutgers of Lynden; sisters Bertha Stremler, Nettie Pottratz and Tina Navis, all of Lynden; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and numerous other relatives.

BOSON, Helen B. - Memorial services for Mrs. Helen B. Boson, 83, formerly of 1701 Washington St., will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. A Whatcom County resident for 41 years Mrs Boson died Monday (July 14,1975). She was a retired secretary of Bellingham Chamber of Commerce and a member of St. Paul's Church and St. Luke's Assistance League. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Anne Solkover of Bellevue; a sister, Mrs. Florence Birchard of Avalon Lake, Ohio, and a grandchild. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park under direction of Jones Funeral Home.

BOSON, Nils, 1003 17th St., age 79, passed away Saturday, April 16, (1966). A thirty-two year resident of this city, Mr. Boson was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and was head of the Music Department at Western Washington State College for twelve years before retiring. Survivors are his widow, Helen B., at home; a daughter, Mrs. Monte Solkover of Bellevue, and a grandson, Mark Solkover. Services were conducted by Rev. John B. Winn Tuesday, April 19 at 3 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Home followed by cremation.

BOSSART, Homer R., age 70. A resident of Birdsview community since 1936 died suddenly at his home on Sat. (Oct. 21, 1978). He was born in Kansas in 1908. He was a retired farmer and chain saw dealer. BOSSENBROCK, Garrett, age 57 years of Rt. 1, Ferndale, passed away a home Sunday, February 24, (1957) following an extended illness. He had been a resident of the Paradise community since 1906. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bellingham; the Washington Co-Op; and had been a school teacher for 17 years, and was county school superintendent for 1 year. Survivors include one daughter, Miss Carmen Bossenbrock of Dryden, Wash.; one son, Wilbert, Seattle; one sister, Mrs. Bella Martin, of Lynden. BOSSENBROCK, John, age 80 years, resident of Route 1, Ferndale, passed away at a local hospital Saturday, August 31, (1946) following a lingering illness. Surviving relatives are one daughter, Mrs. Della Martin, Route 2, Lynden; one son, Garrett, Route 1, Ferndale; also five grandchildren and two sisters and one brother in The Netherlands. Funeral services will be conducted from the Monroe Funeral Chapel Tuesday, September 3, at 10 a.m. following the services the body will be shipped to Waupan, Wisconsin.

BOSSENBROCK, Minnie V., age 55, of Rt. 1, Ferndale, passed away at home Saturday, Aug. 27, (1955). Mrs. Brossenbrock (sic) had resided in Whatcom County for the past 40 years, was a member of the Fist Baptist Church of Bellingham, the Washington Education Ass'n., was secretary of the Whatcom County Christian Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Society and had taught in the North Bellingham School for several years. Surviving relatives include the husband, Garrett at home; one son, Richard T. Albers of Anchorage, Alaska; one step-son, Wilbert Bossenbrock of Seattle; one step-daughter, Miss Carmen Bossenbrock of Wenatchee; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie DeJong of Lynden, and Mrs. Jennie Aho of Vallejo, Calif.; two brothers, Jack Van Wyhe of Tacoma, and Garrett Van Whye of Seattle; mother, Mrs. Wilhelmina Van Whye of Lynden. BOSTON, Edward H., age 77 years, passed away at the family residence, 1403 J Street, Friday, February 13, (1948) after a lingering illness. Mr. Boston has been a resident of Whatcom county for the past sixty-three years and was a member of the First Congregational church, the Old Settlers' Pioneer association, and the Clam Diggers' club of Lynden. Surviving relatives include the widow, Mrs. Lena May Boston; one sister, Mrs. J. P. Felmay, of Ferndale; also two nieces and two nephews. Funeral services were held at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home, Monday, February 16, at 2 p.m. with Messrs. W. Carl Calhoun and Chester Rutledge, officiating. BOSTON, Lena May, age 87, who resided in Seattle, Wash., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 23, (1962) following and extended illness. Mrs. Boston was a former resident of Bellingham. BOSTROM, Dora M. - Services for Dora M. Bostrom, a former Blaine resident, will be at 1 p.m. Wed. at Jerns & LeVeck Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. John Bush officiating. Burial will be in Enterprise Cemetery. Mrs. Bostrom, of Seattle, died Fri. in Seattle. She was born Sept. 25, 1894, in Stromsburg, Neb., the daughter of Martha and Lewis G. Hagglund. She married her husband, Martin Bostrom, on April 27, 1915, and they lived in Blaine until recently. Mrs. Bostrom was a member of the old Swedish Baptist Church, now Northwest Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Martin Bostrom of Bellingham; two daughters, Ruth Bottin of Stanwood and Martha Lindquist of Seattle; several grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister, Ester Kagey of Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews.

BOSTROM, Frank B. of Bellingham died Friday, Dec. 17, 1993 at Shuksan Convalescent Center. He was 94. Private family graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Greenacres Memorial Park with the Rev. Leonard C. Ericksen officiating. A memorial service will be scheduled in early January. Mr. Bostrom was born Sept. 19, 1899 in Bellingham to Gustave and Nellie Beck Bostrom. A lifelong resident of Whatcom County, he delivered the Bellingham Herald and Reveille newspapers and played basketball at Whatcom High School in 1913-14. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War I and World War II, he was discharged as a chief petty officer from the Seabees in 1945. In the 1920s, Mr. Bostrom owned and operated various service stations, including one at State and Magnolia streets he leased while in the service. An avid bowler, golfer and fisher, Mr. Bostrom sponsored, coached and sometimes played for the Bostrom-Richfields, a semi-pro basketball team. He also helped run a semi-pro baseball team in Bellingham, hiring Joe Martin as manager. After World War II, he ran the parts department of the Monohan Garage, bought and later sold his share in Whatcom Motros, and took over the Home Real Estate Firm. With partner E. M. Oehlert, he owned Greenacres Memorial Park until his retirement in 1969. Mr. Bostrom was a life member of the Elks Lodge, 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Bellingham Golf and Country Club until 1991. He was a life member and past president of the Bellingham Central Lions, with 51 years of perfect attendance. He brought in 43 new members and received four awards for organizing new clubs. Survivors include his wife, Winona Bostrom of Bellingham; sister-in-law Thoena Flick of Seattle; three nephews; and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Survivors are her husband, Albert W., Sr., at home; two sons, Robert C., city; Dr. A. W. Bostrom Jr., Yakima; six grandsons and two granddaughters; one sister, Mrs. Agnes Kreitlow, city; two brothers, Stanley R. Pehrson, city, and Hart C. Pehrson of Winona, Minn. BOSTROM, Marion, age 60, of 747 No. 78th, Seattle, passed away in Bellingham, Monday, Feb. 6. (1961) Mrs. Bostrom had been a resident of Bellingham for 15 years before moving to Seattle 25 years ago. Surviving relatives include the husband, Hjalmar D., at the family home; three sons, Jack A. and Donald H., both of Seattle, and James A. of Great Falls, Mont.; nine grandchildren, a brother, Andrew Bowdish of Rockaway, Ore., and a sister, Mrs. Celia McGinnis of Bellingham. BOSTROM, Martin, age 74, of Blaine, passed away Tuesday, April 21, (1959), in a local hospital. BOSTROM, Martin Jr. (Marty), age 81, of Bellingham, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at the Courtyard Dementia Center in Bellingham. He was born March 26, 1923 in Bellingham, to Martin Sr. and Dora (Hagland) Bostrom. He graduated from Blaine High in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in the 1940's. Martin married Dorothy on July 16, 1944. He worked in many phases of electronics and retired in the late 80's. He is preceded in death by his wife in 1990. He is survived by his four daughters, Judith Vaughn and husband James of Maple Falls, Sandra DuVarney and partner Dennis Peak of Marblemount, Carol Burkholder of Ferndale, Linda Post and husband Dennis of Bellingham; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Visitation Tuesday, July 6, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m; funeral service Tuesday, July 6, at 2 p.m, both at Greenacres Moles Funeral Home, with the Reverend Al Currier officiating.

Mrs. Bostrom had resided in this community for the past 39 years and was a member of the Lady Lions. Hildebrand, Mr. and Mrs. Albert M. Shepard and Mr. and Mrs. Marion T. Shepard, all of Bellingham, also Mrs. M. K. Chess, of Puyallup, and Mrs. Leona Berks, of Jerome, Ida.; Uncles Lealon C. BOSTROM, Robert C., age 77 of Bellingham, WA, passed away January 14, 2003 at St. Francis Extended Health Care. He was born March 8, 1925 in Bellingham, WA to Albert and Lillian (Pehrson) Bostrom. Robert graduated from Mt. Baker High School and attended WSU until WW II. He enlisted in the Air Force and obtained his pilot training in Arizona where he met his soon-to-be wife, Martha Harrison. They were married March 23, 1946 in Tucson, AZ. Robert flew B-17's and B-29's until the end of the war. Upon discharge he completed his degree at Western Wash. College of Ed (now WWU). Mr. Bostrom taught at Sunnyland Grade School, Silver Beach, and Whatcom Jr. High until Sehome High School was built where he taught 22 years until his retirement. Mr. Bostrom took great pride in all the students. He was always ready to ride the rooter bus, take photos for the yearbooks and attend the school activities. During the summer, often while going to summer school working on his master's degree, he worked as a projectionist and stagehand in the local theaters. He was a member and past President of Bellingham Central Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lillian Bostrom, and his brothers Albert Jr. and William Bostrom. He is survived by his wife, Martha Bostrom of the family home a son, Robert Bostrom and wife Jeri of Seattle daughter, Leigh and husband Dennis Thompson of Olympia a brother-in-law Col. Henry Harrison and wife Joan of Fairfax, VA sister-in-law, May and husband Joe Bird of Killeen, TX aunt, Winnie Bostrom of Bellingham 2 grandchildren, Nick and Morgan Thompson both of Olympia and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2002 at Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Christie officiating. A reception will follow at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Great Hall.

BOSTROM, Winona Flick (affectionately called "Winnie"), age 92 of Bellingham, WA, passed away December 20, 2003 at Shuksan Extended Healthcare. She was born April 22, 1911 in Acme, Whatcom County, WA to Elsie Huber Flick and Louis Flick. She is predeceased by her parents and her husband Frank Bostrom. She is survived by her sister Theona (Tony) Flick, cousin Bruce Underwood and his wife Mary Jean Wiegert, and niece Martha Bostrom, all of Bellingham. Winnie retired from the Bell Telephone Company, as an account representative, later selling real estate in Whatcom County, where she met Frank Bostrom, her future husband. They had a long and happy marriage. Both of them enjoyed traveling and they took numerous trips all over the world. Their favorite places were Hawaii and Arizona (particularly Mariners spring training and were big fans). They both enjoyed fishing in Puget Sound and in years past had a summer cottage on Orcas Island. In her earlier years Winnie was a very good golfer. She was also a great hostess and extraordinary cook. She enjoyed people, always had a big smile and happy comment. For many years Winnie and Tony have resided at The Willows Retirement Apartments, where she was an avid bridge player (she always had a container of nickels and dimes holding her winnings). BOSTWICK, Bessie Rogers died Wednesday, April 28, 1993, at St. Joseph Hospital Main Campus. She was 90. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Clearbrook Lutheran Church in Lynden. A reception will follow. Born Dec. 5, 1902 in Battlecreek, Iowa, she moved to Riverside, Calif. in 1922. She graduated from the University of Southern California and received a graduate degree from Boston College. Mrs. Bostwick taught in Honolulu, where she met Lauren Bostwick. They were married in the late 1940s and moved to the Lynden area in 1948. Mrs. Bostwick worked for Bellingham School district as a counselor until she retired in 1968. Survivors include foster son Chester Smith of Bellingham; cousin Clarence Rogers of Ames, Iowa; numerous other cousins and friends; and longtime care-giver Wilma Holz of Everson.

BOSTWICK, Emma L., age 73 years, of Lynden, passed away Friday, February 21, (1947), while visiting in Riverside, California. She had been a resident of Lynden for the past forty-six years, and was a member of the Lynden Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, and Rebekah Lodges. She is survived by her husband, Frank L.; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Quimby, of Seattle, Mrs. Marvel Casper, of Grandview, Wash.; three sons, Charles A., of Cashmere, Wash., Lauren L., of Riverside, California, Otho Z., of Kent, Wash.; one sister, Mrs. L. E. Eyth, of Topeka, Kansas; one brother, Harry S. Sultan, of LeCompton, Kansas; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 28, at 1:30 p.m. from Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Interment in Lynden Cemetery.

BOSTWICK, Frank Lee, age 83 years, of Lynden, passed away at a local hospital Sunday, Oct. 11, (1953), following a short illness. He had been a resident of the Lynden district for the past 49 years and was Past Master of the Lynden Masonic Lodge and Past Patron of the Lynden Chapter of the O. E. S.; also a member of Oddfellows Lodge and of the Whatcom County Rural Mail Carriers Association. Mr. Bostwick is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mertha (Martha) Quinby and Mrs. Marvel Burton, both of Seattle; three sons, Charles A., of Cashmere, Lauren L. of Lynden, Otho V., of Auburn; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Bert, of Bellingham. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 14, at 1 p.m. from the Lynden Methodist Church with the Rev. Floyd E. Wells officiating, followed by the Masonic Ritualistic services at the graveside. Interment, Lynden Cemetery, under direction of the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.

BOSTWICK, Irvin George, age 61, of Route 1, Custer, passed away at home Tuesday, Aug. 20, (1957), following a short illness. He had resided in Lynden for the past 54 years, and was a veteran of World War I. Mr. Bostwick is survived by his wife Emma; two daughters, Evelyn at home, and Geraldine West of Blaine; two sisters, Joyce Bostwick of Etiwanda, Calif., and Faith Smith of Spokane; three brothers, Melvin of Custer, Lowell of Bellingham, and Frederick of Philadelphia, Pa.; one aunt, Mrs. Sue Burger of Etiwanda, Calif.; one uncle, Bert Bostwick of Bellingham; seven nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be conducted Friday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m. from the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden with Rev. Floyd Wells officiating. Interment in Lynden Cemetery.

BOSTWICK, Katherine G. - Memorial services for Katherine G. Bostwick, 89, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Congregational Church, with the Rev. Don McClellan officiating. Private family inurnment will precede the memorial service at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Bostwick, of 205 S. BC Avenue, Lynden, died Thursday at Christian Rest Home in Lynden. She was born Oct. 15, 1900 in British Columbia. She moved to Bellingham at an early age and lived here most of her life. Mrs. Bostwick taught school for 30 years, mostly in the Bellingham School District, and was a member of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Sehome Chapter No. 17 of the O.E.S. and a past Mother Advisor of Rainbow. Her husband, Lowell Bostwick, died in 1968. Survivors include daughter Janis Lankhaar; sister Mary Armstrong of Richmond, B.C.; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements by Whatcom Cremation Association.

BOSTWICK, Lauren L., age 81, 9540 VanBuren Rd., Lynden, passed away at his home Mon., July 23, (1984). Born in Abilene, Kansas on Dec. 28, 1902 and as a young boy moved with his parents Frank and Emma Bostwick to Whatcom County. He graduated from Lynden High School and Western Washington Normal School, and then was employed for 20 years at Darigold in Lynden and then volunteered for reconstruction work following the attach at Pearl Harbor in 1942. While in Hawaii he met and married Bessie Rogers in Honolulu Dec. 23, 1943 after the war they returned to Whatcom County where Mr. Bostwick was a self employed carpenter. He was also a member of the Clearbrook Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife Bessie; a foster son Chester R. and wife Barbara Smith of Bellingham; a brother Otho and wife Muriel of Shelton; 2 sisters, Mrs. Bertha Quiby and Mrs. Marvel Wickenburg, both of Seattle. Memorial funeral services will be held Thurs., July 26, at 2 p.m. in Clearbrook Lutheran Church with Rev. John Leaf officiating. His remains were donated to the University of Washington Medical School. Arrangements under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

BOTHELL, Roselena, age 72 of Blaine passed away in a local hospital Sunday, November 13, (1960), following a brief illness. Mrs. Bothell was a member of the Methodist Church in Bothell and leaves to survive, her husband, Robert of Blaine; one son, Homer of Oak Harbor, and one daughter, Mrs. Bernadine Leonard of Seattle; also two sisters. Remains will be forwarded by the McKinney Funeral Home in Blaine to the Ronhaar Funeral Home in Oak Harbor, Wash., for services and burial.

BOTHELL, Ruth A. of Blaine died Sunday, April 13, 1997, at Stafholt Good Samaritan Center. She was 95. Services are pending. Born June 1, 1901, to John and Marin Grimm in Crookston, Minn., she moved to Nugents Corner as a young child. A member of the first graduating class of Mount Baker High School, she graduated from Bellingham Normal School at the age of 18. Mrs. Bothell worked for Houghton Shipyards on Lake Washington during World War II. She and her husband owned and operated Bothell's Family Shoe Store in Oaak Harbor for 17 years. After retiring, Mrs. Bothell lived in Florida and the Virgin Islands before moving to Blaine. She was a member of BPW, Republican Women Association, Kiwanis and Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce. She bowled in the Oak Harbor and Ferndale leagues and enjoyed working crossword puzzles. Mrs. Bothell was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include daughter Anita Bishop of Everson and Mary Ann Layfield of Granite Falls, 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. BOTT, Dean - A graveside service for Dean Bott of Everson will be at 11 a.m. today in Greenacres Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service in Nooksack Valley Baptist Church. Mr. Bott died Friday, July 3, 1998 at the Christian Health Care Center. He was 76. He was born March 11, 1922 in Brigham City, Utah, to Joseph and Florence Bott. He married Virginia Stauffer May 18, 1946 in Custer. She died in 1982. Mr. Bott served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. After graduating from Multnomah Bible College, he became a pastor in churches in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. He founded Nooksack Valley Baptist Church and, after retiring, served as associate pastor. Survivors include his wife Kathryn Rhulman Bott; daughters Marilee Lohrer of Everson and Carolyn Bonebrake of Portland, Ore.; son Marvin Bott of Lynden; brother Ralph Bott of Bountiful, Utah; sister Wanda Cottom of Perry, Utah; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. BOTT, Virginia Mary, 57, 614 Roeder St, Everson, died Wednesday (Sept. 22, 1982) at her home. A lifetime county resident, she was born May 14, 1925, in Lynden. She was a graduate of Lynden High School and Multnomah School of the Bible. She married Dean Bott in 1946. For 30 years they served in church pastorates in Cherry Grove and Portland, Ore.; Wilder, Kuna and Post Falls, Idaho; as well as in the beginning of the Nooksack Valley Baptist Church in Everson, 24 years ago. Survivors include her husband, Dean, a son, two daughters, her mother, a brother, a sister and nine grandchildren. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Greenacres Memorial park. Praise services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Nooksack Valley Baptist Church, the Revs. John Ruhlman and Bob Baker officiating. Arrangements are by Jerns-LeVeck Funeral Chapel.

BOTTIGER, Henry Francis "Pamp" Bottiger, age 82 of Glacier, Washington passed away January 20, 1998 at St. Francis Care Center of Bellingham. Mr. Bottiger was born March 21, 1916 in Glacier, Washington to Hazel (Jergens) and Frank Bottiger. Pamp grew up in Glacier and graduated from Maple Falls Union High School in 1932. He was a rancher and was the Owner of Bottiger Logging in Glacier. In 1941 he joined the Navy and served on the USS Ajax in the Pacific where he attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Pamp was a man of many interest and accomplishments. He was a member of the Washington State Tree Growers Assoc. Henry was preceded in death by his brother, Leck and sister, Janice. He is survived by his wife, Ella Bottiger of Bellingham; son, Frank Bottiger of Bellingham; daughter, Fran Tarabonovic of Vista, CA; step-daughters, Carol Mullins, Patty Murray, and Lurlene Mensch all of California; and step-son, Fred Murray of Bellingham. BOUCHARD, Miles Joseph, formerly of Everson, passed away Tues., Jan. 16, 1996 at the VA Hospital in Walla Walla, WA. He was born in Manistique, Michigan on Jan. 24, 1925 to Philip Alexander and Bertha Anna (Langlois) Bouchard and graduated from high school in Manistique. Miles joined the Air Force in 1943 and was assigned to the 483rd Bombardment Group 816th Squadron which saw action in Germany, surviving his place being shot down over France. During the Korean conflict, he was disguised and went undercover across enemy lines to install communications equipment. Upon returning from the Korean War, he married Jeannine Auten Baird in Nooksack. He adopted her daughter, Michele, when she was three. A son, Tony, was born in California. Mr. Bouchard's military assignments took him to Colorado, Alaska, California, Texas, Missouri and Turkey, retiring in 1966. He retired from Intalco after 15 years and they began traveling. He enjoyed motorcycles, bowling, hunting and animals, especially "Benji." He attended many of his bomber squadron reunions and was a member of Nooksack Lodge #105 F&AM and Nooksack Eastern Star #171, O.E.S. Favorite recollections of Miles were his stories of "the farm" he grew up on in Michigan, he loved driving tractor and putting in hay and tending the horses. They have resided in Sunnyside the past five years. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Adelore and Harold. Survived by his loving wife, Jeannine of Sunnyside; daughter, Michele & husband Gene Wiederspohn of Sunnyside; son, Tony & wife Jaci Bouchard of Gresham, OR; grandsons, Aaron, David and Shawn Wiederspohn and granddaughters, Nicole and Christine Bouchard; sisters, Leoan Schuttke and Romayne Volk of Michigan; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Auten of Bellingham; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joel & wife Janet Little of Ferndale, and numerous other family members. Mr. Bouck had resided in Bellingham for the past 20 years and was a retired apartment house manager, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He leaves to survive his wife, Mrs. Etta Schermerhorn Bouck of the family home; three sons, Claude of Tula Vista, Calif., Lorenzo of Minneapolis, Minn., and Clifford of Pontiac, Mich.; one step-son, Fay Schermerhorn of this city; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Arthur E. Zezanson officiating, followed by cremation.

BOUFFIOU, Midell, age 14 years, beloved daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Bouffiou, 1504 Twenty-fourth Street, passed away at a local hospital Saturday, October 12, (1946), after an illness of three weeks. Midell was a member of the First Baptist church where she also attended Sunday school, and a pupil of Fairhaven Junior high school. Surviving relatives include, beside her parents, one brother, Gary, at home; three grandparents, Mr. Clyde Raymond and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Bouffiou, all of Bellingham; also a great-grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Allen, of San Francisco, Calif. Funeral services will be conducted from the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, Tuesday, October 15 at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Ivan Bell officiating. Interment Bay View Cemetery.

BOUGHAN, Arthur, 92, 1236 W. Axton Road, Ferndale, died today (Aug. 29, 1985) at his home. Mr. Boughan was born Oct. 28, 1892, in Joplin, Mo. He had been a Ferndale resident since 1942, and was a dairy and poultry farmer. He attended Good News Fellowship Church, and was active in the Ferndale Jet Oldsters and North Bellingham Grange. He and his wife Irene celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in June. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Daphene Nelson of Ferndale; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Moles Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harold Schroeder officiating. Burial [will] be Tuesday in Greenacres Memorial Park.

BOUGHAN, Irene - Services for long-time Whatcom County resident Irene Boughan, 97, will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Greenacres Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Boughan, 205 South B.C. Ave., Lynden, died Saturday. She was born Oct. 31, 1892 in Durango, Colo., and had lived in Whatcom County for the past 49 years. She was a member of the North Bellingham Grange and attended the Good News Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Boughan, and daughters Lorene Petty and Wanda Eldridge. Survivors include a daughter, Daphene Nelson of Ferndale, nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives. Pastor Eric Johnson will officiate at the service. Burial will take place in Greenacres Memorial Park.

BOUKNIGHT, Vernon A., age 67, of 505 W. Bakerview Rd., passed away at home Thursday, April 7. A retired school teacher, he served with the U.S. Army in WWII and a member of the Masonic Bodies. BOUMA, Anna, age 60, of Rt. No. 1, Sumas, passed away in a Seattle Hospital Friday, Oct. 3rd, following a short illness. She was born Dec. 26, 1879 at Hull, North Dakota, growing up there and marrying Ed Bouma July 21, 1920. Prior to moving to Lynden in 1939 they had made their home in Wyoming for 8 years. In 1954 they moved to Sumas where they have since resided. She was a member of the Christian Reform Church of Sumas. She is survived by her husband, Ed at home; one daughter, Mrs. Foster Lankhaar of Sumas; 4 brothers, Joe and Henry Nieuwsma of Lynden; Frank and John Nieuwsma, of Hull, North Dakota; 4 sisters, Mrs. Martin Van Soest, Madison, Wisconsin; Mrs. Ed Huisingh, Mrs. Albert Timmer and Mrs. Gus Bouma, all of Lynden; 4 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the Second Christian Reform Church in Lynden Monday, Oct. 6th, at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Entingh of Sumas, officiating. Burial will follow in the Monumenta Cemetery. BOUMA, Ernestine Marie of Lynden died Wednesday, July 16, 1997, at the Christian Health Care Center. She was 98. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon on Monday at Gillies Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Second Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Tom Haan officiating. Burial in Monumenta Cemetery will precede the memorial at 1:15 p.m. Mrs. Bouma was born June 25, 1899, in Firth, Neb., to Leonard and Margaretha Schuyleman Zweegman and moved to Whatcom County in 1901. She attended Bellingham Normal School, now Western Washington University, for a short time before she began teaching at age 17 at Ebenezer Christian School for five years. She also spent two years as school principal, and taught for a year at Lynden Christian School. She was a charter member of Christian Reformed Church, and a member of Dorothea Ladies Society and Golden Hour Society. A homemaker for most of her life, she also taught piano. She married Herman J. Bouma on July 21, 1921, in Lynden. Mrs. Bouma was preceded in death by her husband in 1966; a daughter, Ruth Andre, in 1993; sister Marie Zweegman Yates in 1974; a brother, G. Francis Zweegman, in 1988; and her parents. Survivors include daughters Leone Hendricks of Lynden and Margery Torrance of Lynnwood; sons Floyd Bouma of Lynden and John Bouma of Waco, Texas; brother E. Louis Zweegman of Lynden; 33 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

BOUMA, Herman J., age 69 of Route 1, Maple Falls, passed away Friday, March 18, (1966). A retired farmer and contractor he had made his home in Whatcom County since 1919. He was a member of the Everson Christian Reformed Church and the Mt. Baker Post American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Ernestine, 2 sons, Floyd of Lynden, John of Seattle, 3 daughters, Mrs. John Hendricks of Everson, Mrs. Calvin Andre' of Danville, Calif., Mrs. Euguen Torrence of Alderwood Manor, a brother, Dr. Lewis Bouma of St. Paul, Minnesota; 2 sisters, Mrs. Fannie Bakker and Mrs. Mary DeBoer both of Lynden, also 29 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Everson Christian Reformed Church Tuesday, March 22 at 2 p.m. Rev. Henry Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Monumenta Cemetery under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home.

BOUMA, John, age 87 years, of Lynden, passed away at the home of his daughter, Monday, May 20, (1957), following a short illness. He had resided in the Lynden district for 38 years, and leaves to survive two daughters, Mrs. Jennie Bakker and Mrs. May DeBoer, both of Lynden; two sons, Mr. Herman Bouma, of Maple Falls, and Dr. Louis Bouma; 17 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 23, in the First Christian Reformed Church in Lynden at 2 p.m. with Rev. Reinsma officiating. Interment, Monumenta Cemetery, under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden.

BOUMA, Nellie May Eriks, age 70, reunited with her Lord and Savior on March 11, 2001. Nell died at her home, surrounded by family and friends. Nell was born August 8, 1930 in Highland, Indiana. She moved with her parents, Garrit and Cora Eriks to Bellflower, California. In 1948 she met and married Otto E. Bouma. Otto, Nell and six children moved to Lynden, Washington in the early seventies. Nell always said "God gives us just so many days, use them to the best of your ability, and Praise the Lord in all things." Nell used her time to spend with her family and friends. Christmas was her favorite time of year, celebrating the birth of Christ with children and grandchildren. Her Birch Bay home was truly home to family and friends. The smell of fresh baker pies, a listening ear with unconditional love, and a radiant smile greeted you at her door always with a tender heart. She was a woman of great spiritual beauty, style and grace, compassion and an unassuming sense of humor. She loved her sixteen "Special grandchildren," bowling with friends, gardening and studying and Scriptures. She will be sincerely and dearly missed by her children, Carol and Jim Nielsen of Mount Vernon, Gene and Marney Bouma and Rex and Carol Bouma all of Lynden, Elaine and Alan Durkheimer of Sun Valley, Idaho, Sally Bouma and Darryl Benson and Daniel Bouma of Ferndale; her brother, Casey Eriks and sister Jeannie Eriks both of Redding, California; sixteen grandchildren and many dear friends.

BOURESSA, Amanda A., "Amy" age 90 of Everson, died at the Bellingham Health Care and Rehabilitation Center on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003. Visitation hours will [be] from Noon to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden followed by graveside services at 3:00 p.m. in Nooksack Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Williams officiating. Amy was born in Arlington, South Dakota on February 23, 1913 and was the daughter of Ivar and Mathilda (Nelson) Berg. She grew up in South Dakota and was married to Richard Bouressa in Brookings on October 23, 1936. A home maker, she also helped her husband operate night clubs and resorts in various states before moving to Seattle in 1950. They moved to the Everson area in 1988 to be near family. Amy was also an avid Mariner fan. She was preceded by a son Darwin Bouressa in 1963 and her husband in June of 1999. Mrs. Bouressa is survived by her children, Dennis Bouressa and wife Marge of Bradenton, FL, Donna Starkey of Seattle and Debi and husband Bob Watkins of Everson; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; brother Carl Berg of Great Falls, MT, sisters Mathilda Bergh [sic] also of Great Falls and Margaret Gunderson of Los Angeles, CA, and other relatives. BOURNE, Freya O., who operated a Bellingham grocery store for many years, died Sunday (Jan. 31, 1988) in a Blaine nursing home. She was 86. Graveside services will be said Wednesday at Greenacres Cemetery. The Rev. Donald Walter will officiate. Mrs. Bourne was born in Manitoba, Canada, in 1901. She moved to Bellingham in 1913. Mrs. Bourne and her husband, Donald, operated the grocery. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Bellingham, Eastern Star lodge, and the Freya Club, an Icelandic women's club. BOURNE, John Wilson, a former resident of Whatcom County, died Nov. 10, (1987) at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue. Mr. Bourne, 87, 1902 Highland Drive, Anacortes, was born May 12, 1900 in Anacortes. He lived in Whatcom County for about 70 years before moving back to Anacortes about seven years ago. Before retiring, he had worked for Alaska Packers Association and Pacific American Fisheries. He had been a member of the Masonic Temple. Survivors include his wife Margaret of the family home; one daughter, Shirlie Corlett of Bellevue; one sister, Zora Robinson of Portland, Ore.; and three grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the family home. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park.

BOURNE, Margaret E. - Retired retail clerk Margaret E. Bourne, 88, a former resident of Blaine and Bellingham, died Saturday (May 4, 1991) at an Anacortes nursing home. She was born to Charles and Alice Wilkinson on Feb. 3, 1903 in Clinton, Iowa. She grew up in Blaine, lived most of her life in Bellingham and moved to Anacortes 13 years ago. Mrs. Bourne worked as a clerk at a pharmacy for several years. She was a member of the Sehome Chapter of Order of Eastern Star, St. Anne's Guild and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Her husband, John Bourne, died in 1987. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Corlett of Bellevue, and three grandchildren. Arrangements are pending with Evans funeral Chapel of Anacortes.

An Alaska resident for 12 years, he retired from commercial fishing in 1990. Mr. Boursaw enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. BOUTWELL, Pauline Lavina, age 79, who resided at 1509 E. Victor, passed away at a local hospital Monday, July 23, (1956), following a lingering illness. Mrs. Boutwell had resided in Bellingham her entire lifetime. She leaves to survive three sons, Victor L and Verden E. of Bellingham, Ira A. of California; one daughter, Mrs. Edna Niblock of Virginia; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Christian Science services will be read Thursday, July 26 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home, followed by cremation.

BOUTWELL, Victor L., age 48, passed away at the family home 2504 Cedarwood Ave. Saturday, Jan. 11, (1958). Mr. Boutwell had been a life resident of this community and had been employed with the Bellingham School District as a maintenance carpenter. Mr. Boutwell was a member of B. P. O. E., No. 194 of Bellingham and the Carpenter and Joiners Local No. 756. BOUWCAMP, Herman, age 78, of Grand Rapids, Mich., passed away in that city, Saturday, Aug. 12, (1961), following an extended illness. Mr. Bouwcamp had made his home in Lynden from 1920 to 1948 when he retired and moved to Michigan. Surviving are his wife, Anna; four daughters, Mrs. Ben Hamstra, Mrs. Albert Meenk and Mrs. Ray DeVries, all of Lynden, and Mrs. Lou Cartwright of Seattle; one step-son, Neil Ausema of Grand Rapids; three step-daughters, Mrs. Lambert Boone, Mrs. Harvey Buys and Mrs. Robert DeYoung, all of Grand Rapids, Mich. BOUWMAN, Bertha, age 72 of 115 So. 9th St., Lynden, passed away Monday, October 12, (1964) in a local hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Bouwman was born in Iowa and came to Lynden in 1904. She was married to John Bouwman in 1923 who she now leaves to mourn her. Also mourning her is a brother, Jacob DeHoog of Everson; 4 sisters, Mrs. Gerrit Veleke, Mrs. Gerrit Assink, Mrs. Kate Spaan and Mrs. Paul Zylstra, all of Lynden. BOUWMAN, Dick, formerly of 809 Edson Street, Lynden, died at the Christian Rest Home in Lynden on Friday, July 2, 1993. He was 91. Memorial funeral services will be conducted on at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Third Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Henry Numan officiating. Burial in Monumenta Cemetery will precede the services 1:15 p.m. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Mr. Bouwman was born in Holland on May 29, 1902, and moved with his parents, Franz and Grace, to Chicago at age two. From Chicago, the family moved to Wisconsin, where Mr. Bouwman lived until he was 27, when he moved to Lynden. On May 5, 1926, he married Sadie Stremler in Lynden. Mrs. Bouwman died in 1972. Primarily a dairy farmer, he also worked as a janitor at Lynden Christian Schools for three years before retiring. He was a charter member of the Third Christian Reformed Church and enjoyed fishing. He is survived by sons, Frank Bouwman of Lynden, Sid and Richard Bouwman of Everson, John Bouwman in Juneau, Alaska, and Douglas Bouwman of Bellingham; daughters Louise Fox and Grace Hayes of Mt. Vernon, Bernice Mouw of Lynden and Gretta Bouwman of Portland, Oregon; 28 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Bouwman was preceded in death by brothers George Bouwman, John Bouwman and Raymond Bouwman; sisters Jennie Roosma, Lena Henken, Jessie Timmermans, Tena Van Der Pol, Tessie Jager and Clara Bouwman. A mason for 45 years, he owned and operated Bouwman Masonry and Stucco for many years. Mr. Bouwman served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Jacqueline A. Bultman on Oct. 3, 1952, in Oak Harbor. A member and former church council member at Third Christian Reformed Church, he sang in the Kings' Men of Song. He also enjoyed gardening and growing exotic fruit trees. Survivors include his wife of the family home; son Kent Bouwman of Lynden; daughters Geri Benson, Lori Baker, Carol Bratt and Terri Vander Pol, all of Lynden; sisters Louise Fox of Mount Vernon, Grace Hayes of Yuma, Ariz., Bernice Mouw of Lynden and Gretta Bouwman of Portland, Ore.; brothers Sid Bouwman and Rich Bouwman, both of Everson, John Bouwman of St. Maries, Idaho, and Doug Bouwman of Bellingham; 18 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

BOUWMAN, Raymond - Visitation for Mr. Raymond Bouwman of Lynden will be from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, and from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. Burial will be at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, in Monumenta Cemetery followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m. in the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Lynden with Rev. Homer Wigboldy officiating. Mr. Bouwman died at the Christian Health Care Center in Lynden on Tuesday, Feb. 12, (2002). He was 99. Ray was the son of Gerrit and Nellie (Knoll) Bouwman and was born in Holland, MI. on October 10, 1902 [sic]. From Michigan the family moved to Volga, South Dakota and then to Brooten, MN. when Ray was 17. He was married there to Minnie TeBrake on November 30, 1924. He operated a dairy farm in the Brooten area before moving to Prinsburg, MN. where he was employed as a feed salesman for Vigortone Feeds. In 1969 he and Minnie moved to Lynden. Mr. Bouwman was a former member and Elder of the Prinsburg Christian Reformed Church and was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Lynden where he was active in the Men's Bible Study. He also volunteered at the Lynden Christian School's Paper Baler Program. He was preceded by his parents; his wife Minnie in 1991; sons Gerald and Calvin Bouwman; daughter Audrey Stremler; brothers Ted and John Bouwman and sisters Vera Kolk and Mildred Segaar. Ray is survived by daughters Wilma TeVelde and husband Herm and Lois Polinder all of Lynden; daughter-in-law Barb Bouwman of Grand Rapids, MI.; thirty-three grand, eighty-one great-grand and nine great-great-grandchildren; sisters Geneva VanLant of Artesia, CA., Arlene Bonnes and husband Ed of Minneapolis, MN and Esther Kirby and husband Dorsey of Dayton, TN.; brother Glen Bouwman and wife Aleda of Glenwood, MN. and numerous other relatives. Services are under the care of: Gillies Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Lynden.

BOUWMAN, Sadie - Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie Bouwman, 68, Lynden, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Third Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Donald J. Negen officiating. Burial for Mrs. Bouwman, who died in a Bellingham hospital Sunday (Oct. 8, 1972), will be in Monumenta Cemetery under the direction of Gillies Funeral Home. A lifetime resident of Whatcom County, Mrs. Bouwman was a member of the Third Christian Reformed Church. Survivors include the widower, Dick; five sons, Frank and Douglas of Lynden, Sid and Richard of Everson, and John of Fairbanks, Alaska; four daughters, Mrs. Louise Fox of Sedro Woolley, Mrs. Grace Hayes of Mount Vernon, Mrs. Bernice Mouw of Concord, Calif., and Miss Gretta Bouwman of Portland; three brothers, Simon, John and Maurice Stremler of Lynden; five sisters, Mrs. John VanMersbergen, Mrs. James Bajema, Mrs. Leonard Lenssen and Mrs. Don B. DeYoung of Lynden, and Mrs. Ed Roosma of Everson: 23 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

BOUWMAN, Wilhelmina - Funeral services for Wilhelmina "Minnie" Bouwman, 89, of Lynden will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Christian Reformed Church with the Rev. Jerry VanGroningen officiating. Private interment will be in Monumenta Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. till 9 p.m. Mrs. Bouwman died at Christian Rest Home in Lynden Sunday. She was born in Holland on Jan. 6, 1902, to John and Wilhelmina (TerHaar) TeBrake. She moved from Holland to Orange City, Iowa, and then to South Dakota. She married Ray Bouwman in Brooten, Minn., on Nov. 30, 1924, and they moved to Whatcom County from Prinsburg, Minn., in 1969. Mrs. Bouwman was a volunteer at the Christian Rest Home for many years and attended Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Lynden where she was a member of its Ladies Aid Society. Survivors include her husband of Lynden; two daughters, Wilma TeVelde and Lois Polinder of Lynden; two sons, Gerald Bouwman of Brooten, Minn., and Calvin Bouwman of Grand Rapids, Mich.; 33 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; a sister, Johanna VanderBeek of Belgrade, Minn.; and two brothers, John and Gerrit TeBrake, both of Brooten, Minn. Arrangements are by Gillies Funeral Home.
