OLESHEFSKY, Fred, age 85, passed away at the family home, 1123 Forest Street, Tuesday, August 20, (1946). Mr. Olshefsky had been a resident of this community for the past 49 years and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives are two nephews, William Schmidlapp, of Bellingham, and Herman Schmidlapp, of Los Angeles, Calif., and one niece, Mrs. Henry Smith, of Spokane, Wash. The remains are at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth, where services will be conducted by the Rev. A. L. Hokonson, Saturday, August 24, at 10 a.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

OLSHEM, Esther, age 59, who resided in Portland, Ore., passed away Monday, Dec. 28, (1959). Mrs. Olshem was a former resident of Bellingham. She leaves to survive her daughter, Mrs. Mollie Kampf of Portland; one son, Joseph Olshem of Los Angeles. The remains will be received by Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home and Rev. F. S. Gartner will conduct funeral services on Thursday, Dec. 31, at 2 o'clock in the Chapel, followed by interment in Beth Israel Cemetery.

OLSLAGER, Frances J., age 87 years, beloved wife of Fred L. Olslager, 518 Garden street, passed away at a local hospital, Monday, March 19, (1945) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Olslager had been a resident of Bellingham for the past forty-seven years and was a member of the Garden Street Methodist Church and the Gleaner's Division of the W. S. C. S. of that church for those forty-seven years. Surviving relatives include, beside the husband, one son, Donald C. Ball in the U. S. navy; three daughters, Mrs. Carrie Thayer Smith, Portland, Ore., Mrs. Rilla Ball Owen, Seattle, and Mrs. Pearle Ball Strong, of Bellingham; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The remains are resting at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home where services will be conducted Thursday, March 22 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Roy Leslie Smith officiating. Interment, Bay View.

OLSLAGER, Fredrick L., age 101 who resided at 1412 1/2 No. Forest passed away in a local hospital Wednesday, January 7, (1959) following a brief illness. Mr. Olslager had resided in Bellingham since 1890 and was a former deputy and county treasurer. He was registrar at the Bellingham Normal for many years and on his 100th birthday he was presented with a life membership in the Washington Club. He leaves to survive one brother, Harry Volhardt in Lynnwood, California, two sisters, Mrs. M. M. Guthrie and Mrs. James Bergin of Minnesota; his step-daughter, Mrs. Pearl Ball Headrick of Bellingham, also numerous other relatives. Rev. Rogers R. Irwin, pastor of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church will officiate at funeral services on Friday, January 9 at 3:30 in the Chapel of the Bingham and Jerns Funeral Home. Interment Bayview Cemetery.

OLSON, Adela, age 79 years of 1029 Gladstone Street, passed away at her home Monday, August 8, (1955) following an extended illness. Mrs. Olson had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 59 years and was a member of the Central Lutheran Church, and the Ladies' Aid Society. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. LeRoy Kastner, Mrs. Clyde Banks and Mrs. Lloyd C. Johnson, all of Bellingham; seven grandchildren, two brothers, John Arntzen, Blaine, and George Arntzen, San Clemente, California; one sister, Mrs. Olga Fiengstad, Los Angeles, California. Also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, August 15, at 1:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Rev. Oscar A. Jacobson, pastor of the Central Lutheran Church officiating. Interment, Bay View Cemetery.

OLSON, Albert, age 68, of 1217 Donovan St., passed away in a Seattle Hospital Monday, December 22, (1958). Mr. Olson had resided in Bellingham for the past 23 years; was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Minnesota and a member of the William Mathews Post No. 1585, V.F.W. Survivors are his widow, Eula, at home; two sons, Lewis, of Savage, Minn., and Wayne, of St. Paul, Minn.; one daughter, Mrs. Audrey Olson, at home; one stepson, Burl Raines, of Bellingham; two step-daughters, Mrs. Frances Dykeman, of Bellingham and Mrs. Elizabeth Eaton, of Mt. Rainier, Md.; 7 grandchildren. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Father W. Robert Webb and officers of William Matthews Post No. 1585 V.F.W., Friday, Dec. 26, at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View Cemetery.

OLSON, Albert W., age 56, of 1657 Griffith Road, passed away in a local hospital, Monday, Aug. 13, (1962). Mr. Olson was a lifetime resident of this community, a retired coal miner, having been employed by the Bellingham Coal Mines, and a veteran of World War II. Survivors are two sons, Raymond, of Bellingham; Gene, Seattle; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Smith, Seattle; Mrs. Amanda Hovander, Blaine; Mrs. Hulda Guyor, city; two brothers, Helmer R. Olson, city, and Ed Olson of Birch Bay. The remains rest at the Jones Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. Father W. Robert Webb on Friday, Aug. 17, at 10:30 a.m. Final resting place, Enterprise Cemetery.

OLSON, Amelia - Amelia Roessel Olson died Wednesday (Jan. 24, 1973) in a Sedro Woolley hospital at the age of 80. Mrs. Olson came to Bellingham in 1900 with her parents. She lived in Ferndale many years until moving to Burlington in 1965. She was a member of the Bellingham American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Olson is survived by a daughter, Maybelle Hotell of Coupeville; two sons, Fred Roessel of Burlington and Glen Roessel of Tacoma; a sister, Mrs. Sophie Rowe of Monterey Park, Calif., six grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Saturday at Moles Funeral Home, Ferndale, with burial in Enterprise Cemetery, Custer. Hulbush Funeral Home in Burlington was (in) charge of arrangements.

OLSON, Anna, age 81, of 1109 18th St., passed away at a local hospital Thursday, August 26, (1954). Miss Olson resided in this community for the past 20 years and was a member of the Ebenezer Free Lutheran Church. Surviving relatives include one sister, Mrs. Carol Draxten of Fergus Falls, Minn.; three brothers Neil Olson of Big Fork, Minn., Edward of Underwood, Minn., Sandord of Jamestown, N. D.; many nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Henry Osborn of Bellingham, Mrs. Marshall Jarvie of Seattle, Howard Gordon of Seattle, and Robert Gordon of Burlingame, Calif. The remains will be forwarded to Fergus Falls, Minn., for services and interment by the Funeral Home of Harlow-Hollingsworth.

OLSON, Annie Elsie, 79, of 2349 Grandview Rd., Ferndale, passed away in Bellingham Feb. 18, 1989. She was born Oct. 26, 1909 in Clayburn, B. C. She was a lifetime resident of Whatcom County; graduated from Whatcom High School; married Ralph M. Olson Dec. 27, 1927. Survivors include husband Ralph M. of 61 years; 2 sons, Dick Olson & Marianne of Deming, John Olson & Kathy of Ferndale; 7 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Carl Andreas & Nellie of Bellingham; sister, Dorothy Barron of Seattle. Funeral services were held at Moles Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m. Tues. Feb. 21, with Chaplain Rex Watt, officiating. Interment was held at Woodlawn Cemetery.

OLSON, Arnold J. "Barney", aged 97, passed away August 26, 2002 at the St. Francis Care Center. Born July 24, 1905 in Mt. Vernon,WA the son of Alfred and Hulda Olson, he grew up in Delta and Ferndale, WA, and lived most of his life in Bellingham. He was employed in the Bellingham Coal Mine for many years, and later worked as a marine electrician and longshoreman. He married Lucille Eagon of Walla Walla, Washington in 1930. Mr. Olson was a devout Christian, and was a member of Calvary Temple church for many years, where he was a charter usher and his family and friends felt his love for the Lord. The oldest of ten children, family was important to him, and they have happy memories of him and his devoted life. Brothers Ralph, Ernie, Ted, Walter, Evans and Johnny, and sister Esther preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Lucille two daughters, Betty J. Urie and Sandra L. Murphy grandchildren Connie Kuchenreuther, Cindy Sliger, Jerry Urie, all of Bellingham, and James Murphy of Idaho. He also leaves two sisters, Ruth of Bellingham and Ethel of Mt. Vernon and numerous great- grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2002 at 1:30 p.m. at Jones|Moles Funeral Home, 2465 Lakeway Drive, Bellingham, Washington, with the Rev. James R. Murphy presiding. OLSON, Art, age 76 of Rawlins, Wyoming, passed away Thur. May 3, 1979. He was serving as interim pastor at the Lutheran Church in that city. From 1973 to 1978 Mr. Olson served as assistant to the Pastor at Central Lutheran Church, B'ham. Services will be held Mon. May 7 at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho with interment to follow in Spokane, Wa. OLSON, Arthur J., age 90, of 2211 Jefferson St., passed away Thurs., June 7, 1979. Mr. Olson was a 67 year resident of this community and a retired farmer. Survived by his wife, Theda; 1 brother, Fred Olson of city. Services, Monday, June 11 at 1 p.m. in Greenacres Memorial Park. Arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.

OLSON, Benita, of 404 Bryant Ave, died Friday, Jan. 29, 1993. She was 98. In compliance with her request, no services will be held. She will be cremated, with burial at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Olson was born May 18, 1894 in Sumner, Iowa, to John and Ada La Salle Wilkins. The family moved to Bellingham in 1908. She married Helmer Olson, an accountant with Bellingham Coal Mines. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1971. Mrs. Olson worked as a legal secretary for Voris and Kindall for 50 years. She also worked as a secretary for the government in Washington D.C., during World War I and for Bellingham Ship Yards during World War II. She was a past member of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile No. 2, Hata Sue Temple No. 1 and was past president of Zenobia Club. Survivors include brother Leslie M. Wilkins of Bellingham; nephews Sheldon Wilkins of Bellingham and Charles Hovander of Ferndale; friend Edna May Aken; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. OLSON, Bennie, age 83 of 3215 N.W. Ave. passed away Fri, March 21, 1980. Mr. Olson had been a resident of B'ham for many years, was a retired security guard and a driver for Diamond B. He was a veteran of WWI and a member of the American Legion Post, No. 7. He leaves to survive his wife, Ida M. Olson of the family home, 1 daughter, Julie Reyes of Freemont, Calif.; 3 step-daughters, Arlene Lee of city, Loraine Haase of Sumner, Geraldine Brown of Kent, 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, 12 step-grandchildren and 25 step-great-grandchildren, 1 niece, 3 nephews. OLSON, Bernard E., age 52 years, of 2241 Electric Ave., passed away in a local hospital, Monday, Nov. 19, (1956) following a short illness. Mr. Olson had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 11 years and was a member of the Painters and Decorators Local No. 924, and Order of Vasa. He leaves to survive his wife, Florence Olson, at the family home; one brother, Siguard Olson, of Ferndale; three sisters, Mrs. Ellen Erickson and Mrs. Vera Swanberg, both of this city, and Mrs. Walborg Arko, of Ferndale. Numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Nov. 23, at 1:30 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home, with Rev. Albert C. Tinberg, pastor of the Faith Lutheran Church, officiating.

OLSON, Bess E., 75, a longtime summer resident of Bellingham and Orcas Island, died May 29, (1982) in Santa Barbara, Calif. She was born April 30, 1907, in Medina, ND. She was a graduate of the University of North Dakota and Columbia University. She had been employed as the librarian at Bellingham High School and other schools in New York and California. She served a term as president of the California School Library Association and was a member of Delta Gamma sorority and Delta Kappa Gamma honorary teacher's organization. She is survived by a brother, Edwin, of Bellingham, two nephews, four nieces, two grandnephews and two grandnieces. Memorial services were held in Santa Barbara.

OLSON, Betsy, age 74 of 512 Gladstone passed away Friday, May 20, (1966). Mrs. Olson had resided in Bellingham for the past 15 years and leaves to survive her husband, Henry O.; 1 daughter, Mrs. John Tansey of North Surrey, B. OLSON, Carl, age 65 years, of 1251 Hannegan Road, passed away suddenly Monday morning, March 15th, (1948) as the result of an accident. Mr. Olson was a well-known farmer and had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past twenty-two years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna M. Olson and a niece, Mrs. Alvin Allen, of Hillsborough, Ore. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 19, at 1 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, Rev. OLSON, Carl, age 77 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Helen Olson, 1915 C Street, passed away at a local hospital, Monday, January 27, (1947) following a lingering illness. Mr. Olson had been a resident of Bellingham for the past twenty-five years and before his illness was the proprietor of the Oakland Hotel. He was a member of the F. O. E. Aerie No. 252, of Hoquiam, Wash. Surviving relatives include, beside the widow, one brother, Dr. Olaf Olson, Chicago, Ill., and a step-son, Donovan Sackett, and two granddaughters, Bellingham. The remains are at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted February 1, at 3 p.m. with Elder A. J. Gordon officiating. Burial in Woodlawn.

OLSON, Carol Ann, age 31 of 3640 Agate Bay Lane, passed away Wed., Feb. 20, (1980). Mrs. Olson had been a life resident of Bellingham, she was a graduate of Mt. Baker High School and was employed at Place Two. She leaves to survive her husband Kenneth; 1 daughter Charlene, both of the family home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Olberg and 1 sister Debra Lynn Olberg, all of this city. OLSON, Carolyn M. – A family service for Carolyn Maggie (Otto) Olson of Bellingham will be at a later date. Mrs. Olson died Friday, Aug 25, 2000 in Bellingham. She was 66. Born Oct 11, 1933 to Hudson F. and Gladys A. (Davis) Otto in Lambert, Mont., she moved to Bellingham 25 years ago. Mrs. Olson was a member of Bellingham Moose Lodge. She enjoyed playing pool and darts. Survivors include sons Robert Riley of Bellingham and Randy Riley of Spokane, daughter Patty McElroy of Ferndale, sister Gwen Waller of Minnesota, one grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. OLSON, Carrie, of 3212 Cherrywood, passed away Sunday morning, October 5, (1947) after a short illness at the age of 77 years. She had been a resident of Bellingham for the past twenty-four years and was a member of the Revival Tabernacle. She is survived by five sons, Melvin, Oscar, Edwin and Elmer, of Bellingham, and Olaf, of Kildeer, North Dakota; three brothers, Chris Brandon, of Towner, North Dakota, Peter Brandon, of Kent, Wash., and Anton Brandon in Norway, and many nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 9 at 2 p.m. within the Cathedra Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, Rev. Ray Johnson, pastor of the Revival Tabernacle Church, officiating. Mrs. Olson had been a resident of this community the past 54 years and was a member of the First Lutheran Church. OLSON, Cecile B., age 51 years, of 1640 Bennett Avenue, passed away in a local hospital Saturday, December 11, (1954) following an extended illness. Mrs. Olson had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 29 years and is survived by her husband, Oscar C. Olson; two sons, Oliver O. of this city, and Sgt. George W. Olson with the U. S. Army in Seattle; one daughter, Mrs. Violet Addicott of White Earth, N. D.; 10 grandchildren; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur McKnight of Seattle, and two brothers, James McKnight of Seattle, and Morris McKnight of Orcas Island; two sisters, Mrs. Vella Larabee of Seattle, and Mrs. Lorrene Shields of Vancouver, B. C. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 16, at 1 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Mr. Richard Asplund officiating. Interment, Woodlawn Cemetery.

OLSON, Charlotte Jean, age 87, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph Hospital on January 24, 2008 after a brave and long battle with cancer. Charlotte was born in Ferndale, WA to Clinton and Ella May White on December 29, 1920. She was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from Ferndale High School and married Sig Olson in 1939. They had seven children. In 1966 she went into the real estate business and became owner/broker of Holzer Realty in Ferndale. After a successful real estate career, she sold the business and retired to enjoy living at the family homestead on Newkirk Road that was purchased in 1906. During retirement she enjoyed raising livestock, dogs, cats, fowl, and any type of stray animal that needed attention or care. Beginning in 1975 she began the Olson family tradition of participating in the Ferndale Old Settler's Parade with her brother's 1929 Model A converted to a tractor. Not one year was ever missed, and as many as 30 family members rode on the tractor float. This was always a highlight of her year. The last 14 years she and her family also entered the Custer Days Parade. Charlotte enjoyed walking the fence line of her property with her dogs, children and grandchildren and hosting the family reunion each year the day after the Old Settlers Parade. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her seven siblings, her infant son, Gary, her husband, Sig, her daughter, Diane Olson Ryder, her long-time companion, Bert Fournier. Charlotte is survived by her sons, Greg (Doni), Rane (Stephanie), and Jack (Sherri) all of Ferndale; daughters, Rozanne (Bill) Stevens of Deming, and Joanne (Dan) Castles of Grass Valley, CA; sister-in-law, Myrtle White of Blaine; former son-in-law, Sandy Ryder of Ferndale; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Patti, Mark, Ryan, Raney, Baylee, Marshal Tripp; Heather, Tyson Olson, Cory Horn, John Mayfield; Roger, Joseph, Leyland Olson; Clint and Vic Olson of Arizona; Greg Olson Jr. (Nicole), Evan Olson; Mallory, Miranda Castles of Grass Valley, CA.; close family friend Jerry (Betty) Stoneking; numerous step grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog Cassie. OLSON, Christian Olaf, age 85 years, 1470 Lincoln Street, passed away at a local hospital, Friday, November 26, (1948) following a lingering illness. Mr. Olson had been a resident of Bellingham for the past forty-eight years and previous to retirement had worked with Laube and Son in sheet metal. Surviving relatives include, his daughter, Miss Verna Olson, Bellingham; one brother, George T. Olson, Bellingham; four nieces, Mrs. Adella Kastner, Mrs. Lois Banks and Mrs. Joyce Johnson, all of Bellingham; also Mrs. Leona Finney, of Seattle, and a nephew, Elmer Brown Jr., of Seattle. Funeral service will be held at the Bingham-Dahlquist Funeral Home, Monday, November 29, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. O. A. Jacobson, officiating. Interment in Bay View cemetery. Casketbearers will be Messrs. Leroy Kastner, Lloyd Johnson, William Hartman, Thomas Bulmer, Alvin Hanson and Lloyd Hoffman.

OLSON, Christine, 92, 360 D St., Blaine, died Wed. (Jan. 15, 1986). She was born Mar 2, 1893 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and had lived in Whatcom County since 1930. Mrs. Olson was a retired schoolteacher. She attended college at Mayville Teachers College, Mayville, ND; Washington State University; and Western Washington University. Mrs. Olson taught school in Deming, Wenatchee and California. She was a member of the Freya Club. Survivors include 4 grandchildren and several cousins. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tues. in the chapel of the Westford Funeral Home, the Rev. R. L. Christianson officiating. Burial will be in Blaine Cemetery.

OLSON, Clara A., resident of Shuksan Convalescent Center, passed away Wed. Sept, 27, (1989). She was born Sept. 2, 1901 in Bellingham, and was a lifetime resident. She had been a cannery worker, a teacher & a principal. She leaves to survive 3 daughters, Margaret Anderson of Everett, Carol Neilan of Bellingham & Rosemary Kirkilas of Posen, Il.; 1 brother, Frank Pitsch of Bellingham; sister, Elizabeth Edwards of Bellingham; 7 grandchildren & 3 great-grandchildren. Rosary at 7 p.m. on Sun. Oct. 1 in the Chapel of Westford Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial Monday Oct. 2, 11 a.m. at Assumption Catholic Church with burial to follow in Bayview Cemetery. OLSON, Clara Christine, 86, 1440 Ellis St., died Sunday (August 16, 1981). She was born Jan. 26, 1895, in Bellingham. She is survived by a sister, Virginia S. Olson, of Bellingham. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Jones Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.

OLSON, Clara Sophia, age 87 years, passed away at the home of her daughter, 1444 Franklin Street, Monday, April 9, (1951). Mrs. Olson came to Bellingham 65 years ago and was a member of the Lutheran Church in Sweden. Her survivors include one son, Oscar A. Olson, Seattle; two daughters, Virginia S. and Clara C. Olson, Bellingham. The remains rest at the funeral home of Harlow-Hollingsworth where services will be conducted by the Rev. Arthur P. OLSON, Dennis of Spokane died Monday, June 12, 1995, at home. He was 42. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Viewmont Mobile Park Clubhouse in Mount Vernon. Born July 30, 1952, to Ole and Delores Olson in Bellingham, he graduated from Bellingham High School. Survivors include daughter Carley Olson of Surrey, B.C.; his parents of Mount Vernon; brothers David Olson of Stanwood and Larry Olson and Lonny Olson, both of Mount Vernon; and grandmother Carrie Olson of Bellingham.

OLSON, Dorothy L., 70, a retired bookkeeper, died this morning (Sept. 15, 1988). Mrs. Olson, 2549 Lummi View Drive, was born March 2, 1918, in Alma, Neb. She had been a bookkeeper in the Bellingham accounting firm of Fred Muenscher. She is survived by husband, Leo Olson of the family home; three sons, Lane Olson of Wasilla, Alaska, Dennis Olson of Perth, Australia, and Jan Olson of Palmdale, Calif.; and six grandchildren. Arrangements are by Whatcom Cremation Association.

OLSON, Edd K., age 84 of 1812 Trigg Rd., Ferndale, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 14, 1988 in Bellingham. He was born July 10, 1904 in Minneapolis, MN and has been a resident of Ferndale since 1975. Prior to that Mr. and Mrs. Olson lived in Orange County, CA. Mr. Olson had worked as a Steel Worker in Detroit and was a Welder in the shipyards in San Pedro, CA, following WWII. He was then employed as a Carpenter in the Hollywood Motion Picture Studio at MGM and Hal Roach, and later in General Contracting in the Los Angeles area. From 1951-1971 he worked for El Segundo School District as a grounds keeper. Mr. Olson was a WWII Veteran of the Army's Air Corps and of the Twelveth (sic) Calvary. He is survived by his wife, Johanna, whom he married March 4, 1942; a son, Frederick Olson of Ferndale; 3 grandchildren, Todd Olson of Ferndale, Kimberly and Ror'ree Olson of Bellingham; great grandson, Aaron Olson of Ferndale; and a brother, Carl Olson of Costa Mesa, CA. Time of services will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Greenacres Funeral Home.

A Bellingham resident most of his life, Mr. Olson was a member of the William Mathew Post No. 1585 VFW, Washington National Guard and had worked at the Bellingham Armory until his retirement in 1967. OLSON, Edward J., age 79, of 1306 James St., passed away in a local hospital Sunday, May 15, (1960). Mr. Olson had been a resident of the community for the past 3 years and had been a logger at Ketchikan, Alaska for 20 years. Surviving relatives include a son, Orlen E., of Bellingham. OLSON, Edward T., Capt. (Ret.), age 51 of 10204 Ridgewood Ave., El Paso, Texas, passed away Nov. 2, (1977). He retired with over 20 years of service. He was born in Wenatchee but grew up in Bellingham. He graduated from high school with the class of '44. Upon retirement he went back to school and received his BA & MA from University of Texas at El Paso and spent 9 years as a teacher in the El Paso school system. He is survived by his wife, Doris W. Olson, living in the family home; a daughter, Janet Olson, who teaches at the Texas Christian U. at Fort Worth, Texas; a son, Edward T. Olson III, US Navy at Pt. Sur, Calif. and 1 grandson, Kristen Dane Olson; 1 niece, Mary Channing Mason; 1 nephew, James M. Channing in Alaska and his mother, Christine E. Olson, 2914 Kulshan St., City. Graveside service was held at 2:30 Nov. 4 with Military Honors at Ft. Bliss Cemetery, where he was interred.

OLSON, Edwin G., age 84 of 553 Larabee Rd. passed away Fri., Aug. 8, 1980. A resident of Whatcom Co. for 42 years Mr. Olson had been a rancher in North Dakota and was a WWI army veteran. He is survived by his wife Pearl, 3 sons Manley Olson of B'ham., Vernon Horton of Seattle, Allen Horton of Canby, Oregon, 1 daughter Lorraine Friend of B'ham. 1 grandson Greg Friend. OLSON, Edwin N., age 73, of 2418 W. North St., passed away Thursday, June 25, (1964). A retired auto mechanic and owner and operator of the Olson Motor Service, Mr. Olson was a 50 year resident of Bellingham and was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 194 and the F. O. Eagles, Aerie 31. OLSON, Edwin Paul, age 84, of Bellingham, WA, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 1994. Born January 26, 1910 in Medina, North Dakota to Edwin Paul and Ingeborg "Belle" (Lappegard) Olson. He had been a Whatcom County resident for 63 years; World War II, U.S. Navy veteran; served on the U.S.S. Nevada, which led the D-Day Invasion; held the rank of Quartermaster; loved his family and people and was known for his story-telling; enjoyed reading, cooking and music. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth (McLeod) Olson. OLSON, Elmer J., age 52 years, who resided at 1644 Bennett Ave. passed away suddenly Friday, Oct. 26, (1956) at the family home. Mr. Olson had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 35 years, and was an employee of the Olympic Portland Cement Co., and a member of the Cement Workers Union. He is survived by four brothers, Melvin P., Oscar C. and Edwin G. Olson, all of this city; and Olaf Olson of North Dakota; numerous nieces and nephews. OLSON, Emil, age 77, a resident of Hayden, Colo., passed away while visiting his daughter, Mrs. Elvy Sweitzer, of 1251 Iron Street, Thursday, June 14, (1951). Mr. Olson had resided in that city for the past 35 years and leaves to survive, other than Mrs. Sweitzer, his widow, Mrs. Hannah Olson; two other daughters, Mrs. Estrid Baker, of Lummi Island, and Mrs. Edith Drake, of Hayden, Colo., and five grandchildren. Miss Olson had been a resident of this community for the past 13 years, coming here from Grand Island, Neb. Mrs. Olson had formerly resided in Bellingham at 2311 Yew St. for 25 years before moving to Sedro Woolley six years ago, and was a member of the Champion St. Baptist Church. Surviving relatives are one daughter, Mrs. Clyde Coffey of Sedro Woolley; six sons, Nels L. and David F., both of Sedro Woolley, Roy H. of Seattle, Edward B. of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Joseph C. of San Diego, Calif., and C. OLSON, Eric O., Rev., age 92 years, a resident of Ferndale, passed away at a local hospital, Wednesday, January 30, (1946). Mr. Olson had been a minister in the Swedish Baptist Church for many years but retired in 1917 and since that time had made his home in Ferndale. He is survived by two daughter, Mrs. Edith Pehrson, of Ferndale, Mrs. Ellen Tillman, of Bothell; two sons, Edgar, of Seattle, Eldon, of Mill Valley, California; one brother, Magnus, of Denver, Colorado; fourteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be conducted from the Ferndale Swedish Baptist Church, Saturday, February 2, at 2 p.m. with Rev. A. H. Johnson officiating. Interment in Enterprise cemetery under the direction of the Monroe Funeral Home in Ferndale.

OLSON, Ernest Verne - A funeral service for Ernest Verne Olson of Bellingham will be at 10 a.m. today at Westford Funeral Home. Private burial will be in Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale. Mr. Olson died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, at Alderwood Convalescent Center. He was 92. Born Sept. 3, 1908, to Alfred and Hulda (Johnson) Olson in Lynden, he was a lifetime Whatcom County resident. On Nov. 24, 1952, he married Gladys Sember in Seattle. Mr. Olson co-owned York & Ellis Mill Co. and served as the business agent for the Carpenters Local No. 2667. Mr. Olson was a lifetime member of the Bellingham Elks Club and a member of Carpenters Local No. 2667. He enjoyed gardening and hunting. Survivors include his wife, of Bellingham; son James Olson of Upland, Calif.; daughters Evelyne Gohlke of Vancouver, Wash.; and Marlene Carrington of Bosier City, La. and eight grandchildren.

He was 78. Born May 24, 1916 to Alfred and Huldah Jansen Olson in Lynden, he lived in Bellingham for most of his life. He married Lola Alton on Aug. 10,1946, in Bellingham. Mr. Olson served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired as a Washington state highway engineer. A member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1604 in Mount Vernon, he enjoyed bowling, fishing and trapshooting. Survivors include his wife of the family home; sons Russell Alton of Bellingham and Walter Alton of Seattle; brothers Barney Olson and Turney Olson, both of Bellingham, Ralph Olson of Ferndale and Walt Olson of Mount Vernon; sisters Ruth LaBree of Bellingham and Ethel Baalson of Mount Vernon; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

OLSON, Fred G., a Bellingham resident for more than 30 years passed away Friday March 11, 1988 at the age of 94. He was born at Cedarhome in Snohomish County on December 5, 1893. He moved with his family to Ferndale in 1907. The Olson Road, west of Ferndale was named for his family. At Ferndale high school he excelled in all sports, football, basketball & baseball. He was a veteran of World War I & received his Commission in the 91st Division. In 1917 he married Julia Colvin who had been one of his teachers at Ferndale. Besides his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his wife Julia in 1968; a grandson, Mark Olson 1983; 2 sisters Louise Daniels & Jennie Gilday; 3 brothers, Arthur, Richard & Edwin Olson. Mr. Olson is survived by 3 sons, Frederick G. of Bremerton, John Winton of Anacortes and Robert E. of Yelm. Also surviving are 13 grandsons, 4 granddaughters and 18 great-grandchildren plus many nieces and nephews. Private family graveside services will be held Tues., March 15 at the Woodlawn Cemetery.

OLSON, Fredolph S., age 53, of 931 Fifteenth Street, passed away in Pasco, Sunday, December 25, (1949), following a short illness. Mr. Olson had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 40 years. He was a graduate of Fairhaven high school and of the Bellingham Normal. He taught the fifth and sixth grades in Benton City, Wash. Surviving relatives include his father, John Olson; one brother, John James Olson; one sister, Mrs. Hulda Peterson, all of Bellingham, and one nephew, Corporal Robert George Peterson in the U. S. Marines. Private services will be conducted in the Rose Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, Thursday evening, December 29 at 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. OLSON, George K., age 50, of 216 E. Holly, passed away Monday, Dec. 27, (1955). Mr. Olson was a Lutheran and had resided in this community for the past six months. Surviving relatives include four brothers, Melvin and Oswald of Oakdale, N. D., Matt in Wisconsin, Richard of Eureka, Calif., and one sister, Mrs. Lillie Benson of Oakdale, N. D. OLSON, Gertrude K., age 78, formerly of 2100 Electric Ave., passed away Tues., Oct. 15, 1991 in Bellingham. She was born March 2, 1913 in Bellingham to Bernhardt and Alice Klein and was a lifetime resident of Bellingham except for a period of residence in Mt. Vernon from 1965 to 1973. Her husband Ted Olson, whom she married Jun 1, 1940 preceded her in death June 8, 1982. She was employed by Wahl's Dept. Store as a clerk and later at Haggen Grocery. Mrs. Olson was a member of B.P.O.E. Lodge #194 and has been a member of First Christian Church since 1915. She is survived by 2 daughters, Judi and husband Dick Prettyman and Sherry Heddlesten, all of Bellingham; 4 sisters, Dorothy and husband Val Myers of Blue Lake, CA; Nettie Metzger of Bellingham; Bernice Wotten of Friday Harbor; Val and husband Walt Craig of Bayview, WA; 2 brothers, Jim and wife Dorothy Klein of Cathedral City, CA; and Lorren "Bud" and wife Bernadine Klein of Lynden; 3 grandsons, Tim Heddlesten of Seattle, Rich and wife Denise Heddlesten of Colorado Springs, CO, Reese Prettyman of Bellingham; granddaughter, Janna Prettyman of Bellingham; and numerous nieces and nephews. OLSON, Gudmunder H., age 81 of Route 1, Blaine, passed away Monday, December 6, (1965) following a short illness. Mr. Olson was born in Iceland and came to Winnipeg in 1905 and then to the Blaine area in 1907 to work at the Morrison Mill. He had farmed the past 41 years in the Pleasant Valley area. Survivors include his wife, Jennie; 1 son, Harold B. of Blaine; 3 daughters, Marion Crosby of Sumas; Eleanor Blakely of Blaine; Janet Standard of Park Air Force Base, Philippines; 1 brother, Paul Hawkinson of San Rafael, Calif.; 1 sister, Sigridur Hakonardotter of Iceland; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren. OLSON, Hans Angel, age 73, of 1315 Indian Street, passed away at his home, Tuesday morning, February 14, (1950) following a lingering illness. Mr. Olson had been a resident of Bellingham for the past 16 years and was a member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Brethern Church in Ferndale. Surviving relatives include his wife, Petra; three sons, Alvin and Adolph, both of Sekiu, Wash., and Mildred, of Bellingham; four daughters, Mrs. Bernthina Absolonson and Mrs. Helma Larson, both of Bollineau, N.D., Mrs. Rinda Colvin, of Desert Center, Calif., and Mrs. Anna Ryerson, of Bellingham; 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, February 18, at 1 p.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, with the Rev. O. E. Overland and D. E. Aadland officiating. OLSON, Harold B., age 93, of Blaine, passed away Saturday, May 5, 2007 at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham. Mr. Olson was born in Blaine to Gudmundur H. and Christjana (Sveinnsson) Olson and had been a lifetime resident of Whatcom County. He was a shipwright by trade working in the boat building industry for many years. Harold was a member of the good Sam RV Club and loved to bowl, golf and work in his garden. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive of 58 years in March of 1998. Harold is survived by son, Ron Olson and wife Norma of Bellingham; daughter Judy Drake and husband David of Ferndale; grandchildren Mark Olson and wife Lori; Jennifer Wolff; Monica Stenevich and her husband Mike; 7 grandchildren; two sisters, Elinor Blakely of Blaine and Janet Standard of Poulsbo, WA and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 14, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Blaine, with Pastor Dennis Wildermuth officiating. Burial to follow at Enterprise Cemetery in Ferndale. OLSON, Helen, age 40 years, passed away at the home of her brother, 3122 Orleans Street, Friday morning, September 21, (1945). Mrs. Olson, formerly of Acme, had with her husband, operated Olson's Boat House and Fishing Resort at Sekiu, Wash., for the past ten years. Besides her husband, Alvin, she is survived by two sons, Arlen and Eugene of the home; six brothers, Oscar Brandt, of Everett, Arthur, Bremerton, Walt of Sedro-Woolley, Ernest, of Wickersham, Ben, of Aberdeen, and William, of Bellingham; one sister, Mrs. Emma Wiles, of Burlington. Funeral services were conducted from the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home, Monday, September 24, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Thomas Allport, of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment Saxon Cemetery.

OLSON, Helen, age 65, of 3008 Cedarwood, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, Sept. 5 (year not given), following an extended illness. Mrs. Olson had resided in Bellingham for the past several months. She leaves to survive, two sons, Robert Dyer of Everett and Harvey Olson of Marysville; two brothers, Wilmer Oliverson of Bellingham, and henry Oliverson of Granite Falls; also two sisters, Mrs. Jack Moore of Kirkland and Mrs. Mable Foshaug of Minnesota. Remains will be forwarded by the Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home to Marysville, Wash., for funeral services and burial.

OLSON, Helen L., age 75 years, who resided at 4111 Byron Ave., passed away in a local hospital Monday, Nov. 19, (1956). Mrs. Olson had resided in Bellingham for the past 38 years and was a member of the Seventh Day Advent Church. Surviving relatives include one son, Donovan D. Sackett; two granddaughters, Mrs. Jean Carlson, and Mrs. Patricia Lynch, all of Bellingham; three sisters, Mrs. Amanda Hansen, San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Bessie Gray, Anahiem, Calif., and Mrs. Letha Templin, Palmer, Neb.; also four great grandchildren. Elder H. D. Jeffries will officiate at funeral services on Friday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bingham & Jerns Funeral Home, followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.

OLSON, Henry Olander, age 76, passed away at his home in Blaine, Thursday, Sept. 11, (1958). Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Inez Neubauer, Bellingham, and Mrs. Eleanor Ahrens of Blaine; two sons, Verne of North Bellingham, and Loran of Blaine; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Olson; four brothers, Milo, Oscar, all of Canby, Minn., Elmer of New York City, Roy of Minneapolis, Minn.; three sisters, Mrs. Alma Allenwood and Mrs. Esther Bjovig, both of Canby, Minn., Mrs. Agnes Holzworth in Glendive, Mont.; numerous nieces and nephews. OLSON, Hilda, age 74, of 2515 Humboldt St., Bellingham, passed away in a local hospital, Friday, May 22, (1953) following an extended illness. She has been a resident of Bellingham most of the time for the past 48 years. She is survived by her husband, Lars; one daughter, Mrs. Viola Nubgaard of Ferndale; and one son, Harry E. Olson of Ferndale; one brother and one sister in Sweden; four grandchildren. Services will be conducted in the Monroe Funeral Chapel, Wednesday, May 27, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. A. H. OLSON, Ida M. - Funeral services for Ida M. Olson, age 84, of 2929 Northwest Ave. Bellingham were conducted Monday, December 11 in the Chapel of Jones Funeral Home with Major Beaver of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial to follow at Enterprise Cemetery. Mrs. Olson was born May 23, 1895 in Ferndale, Washington and had been a lifetime (resident) of Whatcom County. She was active in the Home League of the Salvation Army and had sung with the Sweet Adeline's of Whatcom County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie in March of 1980. OLSON, Ida Regina, age 64, of Blaine, passed away at her home Friday, March 9, (1951) following a lingering illness. OLSON, Ingeborg Floe, age 86, passed away at Monroe, Washington, Wednesday evening, September 15, (1948) following a lingering illness. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Anna Myrene, Norway. She is a great aunt of Clarence Lee, U. S. army, Canal Zone, and Rudolph Lee, Mrs. Bertha DeForest and Mrs. Agnes Holeman, all of Ferndale. She had been a resident of the Ferndale district for the past 43 years. The body is resting at the Monroe Funeral Home in Ferndale. OLSON, J. Felix, 100, past owner of Bellingham Bay Baking Co. and a 60-year resident of the area, died Wednesday (Feb. 25, 1981). Olson, 2416 Cornwall Ave., was born Jan. 14, 1881, near Stockholm, Sweden. He immigrated to Minnesota when he was 19. Later he moved to south Lake Whatcom, where he worked as an independent logger. He then bought the baking company and delivered fresh bread in a horse-drawn buggy. He eventually became a partner in B. B. grocery and retired in 1948. He was a member of Bellingham Bay Lodge 44 F&AM and Knights Templar. He is survived by two sisters-in-law (Mrs. Helene Hayden, Mrs. Margaret Mehl, both of Bellingham), three nephews (Bob Hayden of City, George Mehl of Oceanside, California, Herbert Olson of Seattle), and two nieces (Mrs. June Hartstra of Yuba City, California, Mrs. Lillian Moesley of Seattle). Christian services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Home, with the Rev. Neal E. Snider officiating. Masonic rites conducted by officers of Bellingham Bay Lodge 44 F&AM will follow. Burial will be Monday in Bayview Cemetery.

OLSON, James B., age 64 years, of 3100 Orleans St., passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, Aug. 20, (1957). Mr. Olson had resided in this community for the past 56 years, and was a member of the Lutheran Church, a member of the William Matthews Post No. 1585, V. F. W., and a member of the Sailors Union of the Pacific. Survivors are the widow, Amelia, at the family home; one step-son, Edward Larson, of Seattle; one step-daughter, Mrs. Amanda Ross, Seattle; one sister, Mrs. Anna Casisls, of this city; and one niece and one nephew. The remains rest at the Jones' Harlow-Hollingsworth Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. E. M. OLSON, Jean D. of Ferndale died Friday, September 29, 2000, at Alderwood Convalescent Center. She was 70. Mrs. Olson was born in Bawlf, Alberta, Canada, on February 3, 1930 to Leonard and Agnes (Gustafson) Jensen. She was a resident of Whatcom County for eleven years. Mrs. Olson is survived by her husband Raymond Olson of the family home; his eight children; her brother and sister-in-law Lorne and Madeline Jensen of Ferndale; sister and brother-in-law Hazel and Ernie McBratney of White Rock, B.C.; children from her first marriage to Donald P. Key who passed away in 1983; daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Randy Farris, Karen and Alan Robar; son and daughter-in-law Steven and Dee Key all of Anchorage, AK; daughter and son-in-law Colleen and John Putney of Soldotna, AK; son and daughter-in-law David and Renee Key of Peters Creek, AK and eight grandchildren. OLSON, Katherine M., age 92 of Bellingham, WA, passed away December 25, 2002 at Alderwood Park Convalescent Center. She was born July 31, 1910 in Naselle, WA to Thomas and Clara (Collins) O'Connor. Mrs. Olson was born and raised on the last that was homesteaded by her grandfather in the mid-1800's. After graduating from Naselle High School she attended the University of Washington and Oregon State University. She received her teaching credentials from the State of Washington after completing her studies at Western Washington University in 1931. Her first teaching assignment was in southwestern Washington in the early 1930's. During the 1950's Mrs. Olson was familiar substitute at Assumption School, where all three of her children attended. Katherine married Herbert J. Olson March 26, 1937 in Seattle, WA. He preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. Olson was an active member of the Assumption Parish and Catholic Daughters of America. She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Kovach-Norwil and husband Jeff of Puyallup, Susan Redd and husband Dick of Burlington; a son, Donald Olson and wife Karen of Bellingham; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A vigil service will be held at Westford Funeral Home 5:00 p.m. Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12:30 p.m. Monday December 30, 2002 at Church of the Assumption. OLSON, Lola B. Alton, age 94, a "Lady" who never said a bad thing about anyone. She always saw the "Good" in people. She was born March 14th, 1907, in Beach, North Dakota to William H. and Nellie I. OLSON, Loran C., age 66, who resided at 1480 D Street, Blaine, passed away in a local nursing home Thursday, February 25, 1982. Mr. Olson had been a resident of Blaine for the past 62 years and was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and the Musicians Local. He was well known as a musician and played in several dance bands in the area. He and his wife Mildred were married in Bellingham October 14, 1939. Survivors include his wife, Mildred at the family home; 1 daughter, Anne Blasing & husband Dick of Arizona; 1 brother, Verne Olson & wife June of Bellingham; 2 sisters, Eleanor Ahren & husband Paul of Blaine; & Inez Neubauer of Bellingham. OLSON, Lorena A. - Visitation for retired nurse Lorena A. Olson, 91, Point Roberts, will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Jerns-McKinney Funeral Chapel in Blaine. Graveside services will be at 11 a. m. Wednesday at Point Roberts Cemetery with the Rev. Ernie Loreen officiating. Mrs. Olson, 1621 Olson Road, died Saturday (June 18, 1988) in Bellingham. She was born Sept. 9, 1896 in Seattle. In her earlier years, she had worked as a registered nurse in a children's orphanage in Alaska, where she met her husband, William Olson, who died in 1979. They moved to Point Roberts from Seattle in 1947. She was a member of Point Roberts Community Church. Survivors include a son, William J. Olson of California; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

OLSON, Louise M., age 88, widow of Whatcom County Superior Court & Washington State Supreme Court Judge Ralph O. Olson, passed away Thurs. Dec. 28, (1989) in a local nursing home. Born in 1901 in Chicago, Illinois, she was a 1922 graduate of the University of Wisconsin. She & Ralph Olson were married in Nov. of 1924 in Minneapolis, MN and came to Bellingham that same year, where he opened his law office. She was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church; active in community activities and enjoyed attending sports events. She was president [Regent] of Chief Whatcom Chapter D. A. R.; president of St. Lukes Assistance League; member of Chapter F, P.E.O.; member of the Gray Lady Service during WWII and Bellingham Glass Club. She leaves to survive 2 sons, Chuck & wife Marian, Dan & wife Bunny, all of Bellingham; a daughter, Phyllis & husband Robert Needy of Kirkland; 5 grandchildren, Louise Leunartz of San Francisco, CA, David Needy of Mount Vernon, Sarah Davis of North Bend, WA, Ralph O. Olson of Denver, CO & Susan Olson of San Diego, CA and 4 great grandsons, Erik & Gregory Needy of Mount Vernon, and Jeffrey & Andrew Davis of North Bend, WA. Funeral services will be Fri. Dec. 29 at 4 p.m. in the Chapel of Westford Funeral Home, Rev. Harold Minkler officiating.

OLSON, Lucille Estelle (Eagon), aged 95, passed away December 29, 2004, at the St, Francis Care Center. Born January 31, 1909, in Kahoka, Missouri, to James and Anna Eagon, Lucille moved to Washington State at age nine, and, after living briefly in Burbank and Walla Walla, lived most of her life in Bellingham. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Olson was a nurse for many years at the Whatcom County Hospital. She was married to Arnold J. Olson in Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, in March, 1930. Mrs. Olson was a devoted Christian, a member of Calvary Temple Church where she was soprano soloist and a member of the choir for some fifty years. A talented musician in her own right, she was made an Honorary Member of the Bellingham Music Club. She was also a frequent soloist at memorial services in and around Bellingham. Preceding her in death were her husband and a sister, Helen Woodruff, of San Francisco. She is survived by two daughters, Betty J. Urie and Sandra L. Murphy, both of Bellingham, and a brother James Eagon of Spokane. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was greatly loved by her family and many friends and will be sorely missed. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at 2:30 p.m. at Jones-Moles Funeral Home. The Rev. OLSON, Lydia - Bellingham resident Lydia Olson, a retired practical nurse, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1992 at a local care center. She was 90. Visitation will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at Greenacres Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, with Pastor Richard Strum officiating. Burial will be at Greenacres Memorial Park. Mrs. Olson was born Nov. 20, 1902 in Pawnee, Oklahoma Territory to Arthur and Lucy Shupe. She married Melvin Olson in Dickinson, ND in February 1922. She worked as a practical nurse at the former St. Luke's Hospital from 1952 to 1970 and was a charter member of the Calvary Temple in Bellingham in the 1920s. Mrs. Olson enjoyed sewing, her church and her family. Her husband died in 1975. A son, Wesley, died in 1933. Survivors include: sons Donald Olson of North Bend and Walter Olson of Enumclaw; daughters Dorothy Workman of Bellingham, Marjorie Olson of Tujunga, Calif, and Joyce Eaton of Hemet, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. OLSON, Mabel S., age 90 of 1450 Birchwood Ave., Bellingham, passed away Sunday, Nov. 22, 1992 in Bellingham. She was born May 23, 1902 in Milton, ND to S. G. and Jonia Benson. Married Orlen E. Olson on July 7, 1942 in Couer D'Alene, ID. A life member of Fajalla Church in Milton, ND, Mrs. Olson resided in Bellingham for 26 years before moving to Seattle and she moved back to Bellingham in 1989. Survived by her husband, sister Mary Johnson of Langdon, ND, numerous nieces and nephews. OLSON, Marie, age 67, formerly of 2305 Douglas Avenue, passed away in a local sanitarium Sunday, Jan. 28, (1962). Mrs. Olson was a 61 year resident of Bellingham, and resided with her daughter, Mrs. E. G. Westman of Route No. 2, Blaine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Olaf M. Olson, who passed away in 1952. Mrs. Olson was a member of our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Survivors are two sons, Clarence M. Olson, Bellingham; Ernest L. Olson, Blaine; one daughter, Mrs. E. G. Westman, Blaine; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; four brothers, Orvin, Gilbert, Ben and Howard E. Haggen of Bellingham; three sisters, Mrs. Howard Pyle, Mercer Island; Mrs. E. A. OLSON, Marie T., age 80, of 1447 Ellis St., passed away in a Mount Vernon hospital Tuesday June 5 (year not given). She had resided in Bellingham for 61 years and was a member of the Central Lutheran Church. She leaves to survive her husband Aselius A. Olson at home; three sons, Alvin Erickson of Wenatchee, Leonard Erickson of Yakima and Elmer Erickson of Mount Vernon; one daughter, Mrs. Helma Gardner of Portland; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Oscar Mahlum of Grand Forks, N. D.; four sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Austring of Minnesota, Mrs. Edna Duffy of Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Florence Christenson of Minnesota, and Mrs. Hilma Erickson of Montana. OLSON, Martin I., age 92, a resident of Rt. 4, Sedro Woolley died Monday, Feb. 7, (1977) at a Mt. Vernon nursing home. He was born Oct. 19, 1884 in S. Dakota. He has been a Skagit County resident since 1934. He was employed in farming and logging. He also resided in Oregon for several years. Survived by his wife, Hilda; 2 sons, Orville of Sedro Woolley and Merrill of Bend, Ore.; 2 daughters, Leola Petersen of Portland and Alvina Anderson of Bend, Ore.; 2 brothers, John of S. OLSON, Mary Ann, age 89, of Marietta, passed away Tuesday, March 24, (1959) in a local hospital following an extended illness. Mrs. Olson had been a resident of Marietta the past 20 years and had formerly resided on San Juan Island for about 65 years. She was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church. OLSON, Mary Mae, 74, of Everett, died May 8, (1978) in a local hospital. She was born January 17, 1904 in Swanville, Minnesota and had lived in the Everett area for the past 26 years. She was a member of the Golden Ages Club. Mrs. Olson had worked as a cook for the Lutheran Bible Camp at Lutherwood and had been owner-operator of several restaurants in the Bellingham area. She is survived by her husband, Mandel G. Olson of the home; one son, Vernon Borden of Sutherlin, Oregon; three daughters, Mrs. Mark (Laverle) Severson of Fargo, North Dakota; Mrs. Jack (Bonnie) Bartelds of Everson, Washington and Mrs. Irvin (Florence) Casler of Rochert, Minnesota; a sister, Mrs. Leonard (Myrtle) Dawson of Everett; two step-sons, Rodger Olson and Gordon Olson, both of Randall, Minnesota; 24 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be Highland Memorial Park in Everett.

OLSON, Mary P. passed away at home, in her sleep on Friday, July 13, 2007. She was 86, born July 16, 1920 in Waterville, WA to Walter and Bessie (Kuder) Hendrick. Mary worked for many years for Cedarwood Laundry. She was a generous lady who loved rose gardens, and her dog Minnie Pearl. She is preceded in death by her husband Lester Olson, who died in 1993, and brother John Hendricks. Mary is survived by her daughters, Maryanne (Art) Dougan, Shirley (Ray) Pollett; and step-grandson Justin Olson. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 19, at 1 p.m. at Greenacres Memorial Park.

OLSON, Maybelle Klang, former resident of Ferndale, passed away Sat., Jan. 7, (1978) in Everett. Born in St. Cloud, Minn., Mrs. Olson came to Ferndale in the early 1900's, where she lived until the past few years. She is survived by 2 daughters, June Mason of LaConner and Joyce Sjostrom of Everett, 5 grandsons, 5 great grandchildren. OLSON, Michael Jay of Sumas, WA, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2003, in Sumas. He was 49, born March 20, 1954, to Arnold and Fran (Zwiers) Olson in Bellingham. A lifetime County resident, Mike and wife Cathy were partners for 28 years in the dry cleaning business and life partners for 31 years. Mike and Cathy have been the owners of Sunshine Cleaners for 22 years. Mike is survived by his wife Cathy Olson; daughter Christie and husband Marty Brown; son Toby Olson; his parents; four brothers: Ron and wife Leslie Olson, Richard Olson, Dennis and wife Pam Olson and Mark and wife Melody Olson; two sisters: Jane and husband Dan Mauk, and Kim Olson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike and Cathy enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, snowmobiling, boating, and camping. Mike especially enjoyed playing Starcraft with his nephew. Mike was known for his sense of humor, quick wit, and his unselfish heart. He loved his family and friends very much, and he always put their needs in front of his. OLSON, Mildred P., age 75, of 2350 Douglas Rd., Ferndale passed away Sun., Oct. 30, (1977). She was a resident of Ferndale for most of her lifetime and was a member of the Bakerview Baptist Church. OLSON, Nancy, died peacefully in her sleep on December 19, (2005) while vacationing in Hawaii. Born in Alabama and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, Nancy lived in many different states and several foreign counties in her adult years. In 1995 she began residence in Bellingham, Washington. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Dr. Bob Olson, to whom she was married for 59 1/2 years, and her children: Lynn Eklund (Jim), Rob Olson (Mary Ellen), Kathryn Olson (Jeff), Karen Arnold (Tim), Wendy Fishburn (Peter), and Kurt Olson (Christine). Nancy was blessed with 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Anne Stellmaker, of Arlington, Texas. In addition to being dearly loved by her family and many friends, Nancy was an accomplished artist and an active member of Unity Church of Bellingham. A member of Alchoholics Anonymous for over 26 years, Nancy touched countless lives with her understanding, wisdom and support.

OLSON, Olaf Bernart, age 89 years, passed away at a local hospital Monday, March 3, (1947). Mr. Olson came to Bellingham ten years ago and was a painter by trade and was a member of the Baptist Church in Nebraska. He is survived by four sons, Bernart and Fred J. Olson, of Omaha, Nebr., Herman A., Evanston, Wyo., Elmer D. Olson, Bellingham; one daughter, Emma A. Olson, this city; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. OLSON, Olaus, age 60 years, of Rt. 2, Sedro-Woolley, passed away at a local hospital, Saturday evening, May 28, (1949) following a lingering illness. OLSON, Ole H., age 78, of 1958 Van Dyke Rd., passed away in a local rest home Friday, July 4, (1958). Mr. Olson had been a resident of this community for the past 51 years and for many years had been employed as a machinist-planerman for the Columbia Valley Lumber Co. Sash & Door plant. The deceased had attended the Broadway United Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Knights of Pythias and D.O.K.K. Surviving relatives are two daughters, Mrs. W. J. Coffell, at home and Mrs. Pearl Dodd of Bellingham; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; one brother, Harry and one sister, Mrs. Oscar Foss, both of Wisconsin; numerous nieces and nephews. He was born on May 17, 1889, in Norway. Mr. Olson immigrated to the United States and moved to Bellingham when he was 21 years old. He spent time working as a fisherman in Seattle and Alaska. Mr. Olson lived in the U.S. for 11 years and became a U.S. citizen during this time. In 1922, he returned to Norway and married Carrie Odagard. In 1926, the Olsons returned to Bellingham with their son. Mr. Olson worked at the Big Ole saw mill and was working at Larsen's Saw Mill near Lake Whatcom when he retired. Surviving in addition to his wife are his son, Ole G. Olson of Bellingham; a brother, of Norway; two sisters, of Norway; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

OLSON, Olive Ann, age 85 of Blaine, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998. She was born May 26, 1912, to Leslee and Ada Mae Moore in Mansfield, WA. In 1932 she graduated from Cleveland High School. She married Harold Olson on March 24, 1940 in Seattle. She was active in Custer Cub Scouts, member of garden clubs, craft clubs, Good Sam R.V. Club. Her pastimes included craft work, gardening, bowling, cards, camping, loved dancing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Olson is survived by her husband Harold of Blaine; daughter and son-in-law Judy and David Drake of Ferndale; son and daughter-in-law Ron and Norma Olson of Ferndale; sisters, Esther Harris and Thelma Evans, both of California; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her brother Harold Moore and sister Opal Trumbull. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 16, 1998, 1 p.m. at Moles Funeral Home Chapel in Ferndale. OLSON, Oluf M., age 84, of Acme, passed away in a local hospital Friday, Aug. 15, (1958). Mr. Olson had resided in this community for the past 50 years and was a retired farmer and lumberman. Surviving relatives include the widow, Ragna, at the family home; four sons, Ralph of Marysville, James of Oso, Wash., Raymond of Vancouver, Wash., and Kenneth of San Leandro, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Ethel Gay of Newhalem, Mrs. Olga Little of Bellingham, Mrs. Minnie Meece of Reedsport, Ore., and Mrs. Ruth Martin of Tacoma; 17 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Jennie Peterson of Wyandotte, Mich.; three brothers, Nels of Sanborn, Wis., Oscar and Angel, both of Ashland, Wis., and numerous nieces and nephews. OLSON, Orwin C. (Orvie) passed away on his favorite holiday, Christmas Eve, December 24, 2007, at the age of 84. He was born on March 21, 1923, in Pollock, Emmons Co. (Linton), ND, to Rosenberg O. and Gelena (Reitan) Olson. He moved to Sumas, WA, in 1937 and attended Nooksack High school. He was a welder by trade and worked during World War II at the Bremerton Shipyard. In the late 1940s, he and his first wife, Barbara, ran a small dairy farm in Sumas. He worked for over 30 years for Reid Boiler Works in South Bellingham before he retired. He belonged to the Boilermaker Union Local 104 in Seattle, WA. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and 27 yr. member of the Eagles. Orvie's children and grandchildren were a very important part of his life. He enjoyed Christmas gatherings with his grandchildren at the family home that he and Barbara proudly built. In earlier years he enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating, especially at Baker Lake. Orvie was proud of his Norwegian heritage and enjoy lutefisk and lefse and also enjoyed attending the annual Olson family Christmas party. Orvie played on many pool and bowling leagues in Bellingham and was an avid Mariner fan, never missing a game on TV. Orvie was preceded in death by his first wife Barbara, the mother of his four children; son Ken Olson; great-grandsons Isaac Mintah-Myers and Landen Harless; sister Helen Loreen; brother Arnold; and Orvie's second wife, Carolyn. He is survived by his daughters: Janet (LeRoy) Hansen of Union, WA, Elaine (Fred) Kooistra of Everson, and Kelli (Abe) Gonzales of Bellingham, brothers: Glen (Olga) of Sumas, Don (Dee) of Olympia, sister Dee (Jack) of Bellingham; 10 grandchildren: LeRoy, Lisa, Connie, Laurie, Cheri, Mike, Heather, Carissa, Andrew and Justin; 13 great-grandchildren: Kyle, Kendra, Brandon, Chelsea, Justin, Ryan. Ashley, Cassandra, Ripley Dakota, Calen, Aliyah, and Arianna; and 1 great-grandson Aiden; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 2nd, at Moles – Bayview Chapel (Lakeway & Woburn). After the service, visitation will continue until 8:00 p.m. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 3rd, at Greenacres Memorial Park.

Mr. Olson had been a resident of Bellingham for the past fifty years and was a retired logging operator. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church and leaves to survive, his widow, Mrs. Marie Olson; a sister in Minnesota; and a sister and brother in Sweden; a niece, Mrs. S. Johnson, of Bellingham, and two nieces in San Francisco. Funeral services will be held at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home, Saturday, July 10, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. OLSON, Oscar E., age 68, of Rt. 2, Ferndale, passed away at his home suddenly Wednesday, April 10, (1957). Mr. Olson had been a resident of the Ferndale community the past 30 years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ferndale. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; one daughter, Mrs. Darlene Leech of Ferndale; one son, Robert Olson of Bellingham; one sister, Mrs. Gerda Larsen of Seattle. OLSON, Peter "Pete," age 85 years, passed away at his residence, 1024 Twenty-second Street, Tuesday morning, May 1, (1945). Mr. Olson had resided in this community for the past 53 years, and was a member of the Swedish Lutheran Church. OLSON, Peter, age 90 years, passed away at his home, Route 1, Maple Falls, Wash., Sunday, Jan. 2, (1949) following a lingering illness. OLSON, Rachel, age 94, of 2629 Park Street, passed away in a local hospital Sunday, April 10, (1949). Mrs. Olson had resided in this community for the past 42 years and was a member of the Garden St. Methodist church. Surviving relatives are two daughters, Mrs. James S. Gilday Sr., of Bellingham, and Mrs. Alfred Daniels, of Anacortes; four sons, Arthur J. of Bellingham, N. Richard, of Everett, Fred G. of Bellingham, and Edwin R. of Seattle; also 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. OLSON, Ralph M. - Visitation for Ralph M. Olson of Ferndale will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Gillies Funeral Home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery followed by a funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Life Fellowship Church with the Rev. Ron Slater officiating. Mr. Olson died Friday, May 30, 1997. He was 90. Born Jan. 17, 1907, to Alfred and Hulda Jonnson Olson near Lynden, he was raised in the Delta area and was a lifelong Whatcom County resident. He married Annie Andres on Dec. 27, 1927 in Bellingham. Mr. Olson farmed in Custer and Ferndale and worked at the Georgia-Pacific West Inc. mill, Lynden and Blaine sanitary landfills and did stump-blasting work. He was active in the Ferndale Senior Center. Mr. Olson was preceded in death by his wife in 1989; brothers John, Ted, Walt and Evans Olson; sister Esther Olson; and granddaughter Brenda Olson. Survivors include sons Dick Olson of Deming and John Olson of Ferndale; brothers Arnold "Barney" Olson and Ernest Olson, both of Bellingham; sisters Ruth LaBree of Bellingham and Ethel Baalsom of Mount Vernon; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

OLSON, Rebecca M., age 73, of Rt. 1, Lynden, passed away at her home, Wednesday, Feb. 8, (1961) following an extended illness. Mrs. Olson had been a resident of the Lynden area for the past 38 years. OLSON, Ruth M., 69, of 701 16th St., died Thursday (Oct. 29, 1987) in Bellingham. She was born March 21, 1918, in Erie, N.D. She has been a resident of Bellingham since 1937 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Aftermath Club, Fidelis Alpha Delta Kappa, the American Association of University Women and the Marie Melrose Circle. Survivors include her husband, Edwin Olson, of Bellingham; three daughters, Janice R. Burghoffer, Beverly A. Jones and Carol E. Browder, all of Bellingham; four grandchildren; two brothers, Jack McLeod of Bellingham and Ronald McLeod of North Dakota; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Charles Carlson officiating. Cremation will be at Greenacres Crematorium.

Mr. Olson died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999, in Bellingham. He was 84. Mr. Olson was born Nov. 1, 1915, to Tinus and Mabel (Davis) Olson in Lake City, S.D. On Oct. 4, 1942, he married Esther Berg in Starbuck, Minn. Mr. Olson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired from the U.S. Border Patrol after 28 years of service. Mr. Olson was a member of Bellingham Golf & Country Club, Washington Horseshoe Association, Bellingham Horseshoe Club, where he was a champion, Foot Printers of Bellingham, Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Laymen's League, Sumas American Legion Post No. 212, Lynden Pioneer Museum and U.S. Border Patrol Museum of El Paso, Texas. He enjoyed working on his lawn and in his vegetable and flower gardens, hunting and fishing, and sports. Survivors include his wife, of the family home daughter Judy Engman of Hawaii son Gary Olson of Seattle brother Leonard Olson of Alborn, Minn. sisters Roselyn Luitjens and Marilyn Magenton, both of Britton, S.D. two grandchildren two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

OLSON, Sarah, age 88 years, of Point Roberts, Wash., passed away at a Blaine Rest Home Wednesday, Dec. 21, (1960). Mrs. Olson was born November 21, 1872, at Rekjavik, Iceland, and had been a resident of Point Roberts for the past 60 years, having been one of the oldest residents there. She was a member of the Point Roberts Grange and the Point Roberts Lutheran Church. Survivors include two sons, Thomas Olson of Seattle, and William S. Olson of Point Roberts; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Drtina of Seattle, Mrs. George Elsner of Point Roberts, Mrs. William Frederick of Vancouver, B. C., and Mrs. T. G. Renstrom of Anacortes; also 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 23, at 1 p.m. at the Point Roberts Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kolbin Simonson officiating. Concluding services and interment will be held in the Point Roberts Cemetery under the direction of the McKinney Funeral Home.

OLSON, Sebert Carl, age 86, who resided at 1743 Kelly Rd., passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, Oct. 31, (1961) following an extended illness. Mr. Olson had resided in Bellingham for the past nine years. He leaves to survive, two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Ploog and Mrs. Inga Hokanson, both of Minneapolis, Minn., his niece, Mrs. Charles Atkins, with whom he resided, also numerous other relatives residing in the East. OLSON, Sigurd L., age 66 of 1814 Newkirk Road, Ferndale, passed away in Seattle on December 21, 1981. Born in Alfa, Sweden on February 22, 1915, he arrived with his family in the United States in October of 1919. Mr. Olson grew up in the Pleasant Valley area and was a 1934 graduate of the Custer High School. He was a coal miner for 11 years in the Bellingham Coal Mines until its closure. He was a pitcher in the pro-baseball for the Bellingham Coal Miners team. In 1975 he retired from ONC Motor Freight after 25 years of service as a freight line driver where he was awarded the highest Safety Achievement Award for safe driving. He was member of the Teamsters' Local Union, No. 231 and was owner of Holzer Realty in Ferndale. He spent his retired years raising Angus beef. He leaves to survive his wife Charlotte, 3 daughters, Rozanne Olson of Ferndale; Diane Ryder of Bellingham; Mrs. Dan "Joanne" Castles of Beaverton, Oregon; 3 sons, Jack Olson at home; Gret & Rane Olson, both of Ferndale; 5 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Dan Arko of Custer; Mrs. Vera Swanberg of Bellingham & numerous nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 28 at 2 pm at Moles Funeral Home with burial in Greenacres Memorial Park.

OLSON, Theda M., a lifelong resident of Whatcom County, died Thursday (July 6, 1989) at a local nursing home. Mrs. Olson, 83, of 1509 E. Victor St., was born March 28, 1906, in Ferndale. Mr. Olson had been a life resident of Whatcom County, was manager of the Edelwiess Apts. and he was a retired automobile & real estate salesman; was a life member of the Mt. Vernon Elks Club. OLSON, Verne O., age 92, of North Bellingham was a loving, hard working man with a strong faith in Jesus. He departed to be with his Heavenly Father on Wed., Sept. 4, 2002, in Bellingham. He was born March 20, 1910, in Rhame, ND. In the summer of 1913, he moved to the remote location of Cape Scott, British Columbia, Canada on Vancouver Island where his parents, Henry and Ida (Paulson) Olson attempted to homestead. Later the family moved to Vancouver, B.C., before finally settling in Blaine in 1920. Verne survived smallpox as a child and lived through hard times during The Great Depression. He dropped out of high school to help support his family, working a variety of jobs, including plowing gardens in the vicinity of Blaine with a team of horses. He married Lois June Bailey on Dec. 14, 1940 and they took up farming, raised chickens and a small herd of cows. Later, Verne worked for the Whatcom County Road Dept. and did long shoring. In the early 50's, he joined Northwest Laborers Union #276 and worked construction on roads, dams, and at the refineries. Verne was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and Senior Centers in Bellingham and Ferndale. He supported his church in many ways and participated in construction projects at both Redeemer and Trinity Lutheran, where he had also been a member. As a young man he enjoyed swimming and roller skating. He liked to play board games, Hog Rummy, Pinochle, and as of late, had become quite a Mariners fan. Verne was an affectionate man, a real "huggy bear". He enjoyed meeting and talking to people. He also liked singing and had developed his own versions of songs and his own silly cliches. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents sister, Inez Neubauer and brother, Loran Olson. Verne is survived by his wife, Lois June Olson of the family home sister, Eleanor Ahrens of Mill Creek his late brother's wife, Mildred (Olson) Johnson of Blaine aunt, Agnes Holzworth of Glendive, MT son, Ted Olson and wife Mary of Deming and their children Steven and Stephanie daughter, Trudy Ecker and husband Dick of Sequim and their children Michael and Traci daughter, Vickki Harris of Ferndale and her daughter Sonja and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Burial will be Fri., Sept. 13, 3:00 p.m. at Greenacres|Moles Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held Sat., Sept. 14, 2:30 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor David Meyer officiating.

OLSON, Victor Nels, age 68, of 1938 Ellis, passed away Fri. April 4, (1986). Mr. Olson had resided in Bellingham for many years and was a member of Church of the Assumption and K of C No. 829. Graveside services will be held Fri. April 11, 10:30 a.m. at Bayview Cemetery. Under the direction of the Westford Funeral Home. [born June 13, 1917 in Little Falls, MN]

OLSON, Virginia A. "Dinny" - Funeral services for Virginia A. "Dinny" Olson, 83, a York neighborhood resident for many years, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dennis Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Miss Olson died Sunday (July 28, 1985). Miss Olson was born Aug. 20, 1901, in Bellingham, and had lived at 1440 Ellis St. for many years before moving to the Nevada Square Apartments in October of 1983. She was preceded in death by her sister, Clara Olson, in August 1981. She and her sister cared for children as babysitters in the homes of several families in the 1950s and '60s, and she was known as "Dinny" to the children. She had worked at Pacific Laundry as a young woman. She and her sister did laundry for families and businesses from their three different homes in the York neighborhood. She is survived by a number of close friends, including Robert and Judy Anderson of Bellingham. Anderson said, "She will be remembered as a loving and caring friend who instilled confidence in many young minds."

OLSON, Wanda Jean - Memorial services for former Ferndale and Deming resident Wanda Jean Olson, 55, will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Eagles Lodge, 119 N. Cherry St., Burlington. Mrs. Olson died Wednesday (Dec. 12, 1990) in Sedro-Woolley. She was born March 28, 1935 in Satanta, Kan., to Orville and Bonnie Dougan and had moved to Whatcom County in 1938. She attended Mount Baker High School. She moved to Texas in 1957, returning to Washington in 1977. She married Burton Olson in 1983. He survives at the family home. Other survivors include sons David Sparks of Louisiana and Mike Sparks of Texas, daughter Judy Cathey of Texas, mother and stepfather Bonnie and Earnest Watts of Sedro-Woolley, four grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. OLSON, William S., age 80, of 2216 Olson Rd., Pt. Roberts passed away in a local hospital Tues. March 20, 1979. Raised in the Pt. Roberts area, he had made his home there for the past 45 years. He was a retired cannery superintendent for the Alaska Salmon Co. He was a member of Seattle Masonic Lodge. OLSON, Winifred Whitmore, age 60 years of 708 Union Street, Seattle, passed away in a Seattle hospital Saturday March 16, (1957). She had resided in this community for 10 years and leaves to survive her mother Mrs. Daisy Offerman of Seattle, Wash., 1 sister Mrs. Katherine Willoughby and 1 brother Herbert Offerman both of this city. Private family services were held Monday March 18 at 10:00 a.m. within the Cathedral Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home. Followed by Cremation.

OLSTEAD, Ernest of 6006 Barr Road, Ferndale, died at home on August 10, 1991. He was born on Jan. 28, 1903 in Turton, South Dakota and lived in Trempealeau, Wisconsin during his school years. He graduated from Trempealeau High School in 1920. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. Ernest was a farmer in North Dakota for a short time before moving to Washington. At Sequim, WA he managed the GraysMarsch farm for 5 years. He worked for Howard S. Wright Construction as a job accountant for 28 years. On Aug. 10, 1941 he married Myrtle Knudsvig, also from N. Dakota. In 1950 they made their home in Ferndale with temporary moves to Idaho Falls and Seattle. He was preceded in death by a son, in childhood; a daughter in infancy; a sister Alma; and two brothers Hal and Gordon Olstead. He is survived by Myrtle, his wife of 50 years of the family home; son Halvar and wife Alvina; granddaughter Melody, all of Bellingham and nieces Patricia Pruss and family, Gail Rardin and family in the Seattle area; Lee Olstead of Vancouver, WA and Lynden Olstead and family of Redwood City, Calif. Ernest was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church. Visitation will be at Westford Funeral Home Tues., August 13 and Wed. August 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Funeral Services for Ernest will be on Thurs. Aug 15 at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran near Custer with Richard Christensen pastor. Burial will follow at Greenacres.

OLSTEAD, Myrtle Cora, age 94 of Custer, WA, passed away February 8, 2002 at Custer Adult Family Home. She was born on November 6, 1907 to Gudmundt and Martha (Thorson) Knudsvig on the Knudsvig homestead farm 6 miles north of Upham and 6 miles east of Bantry in Layton Township, North Dakota. Her early education was at the Layton Consolidated School and she graduated from Upham High School in 1925. She received her teaching certificate from Minot State Teacher's College in 1931. She began her teaching career at her home school of Layton where she taught primary grades for three years and served as principal and upper grade teacher for a year. She continued to teach for a total of ten years in rural North Dakota schools. Myrtle married Ernest Olstead, also of North Dakota, on August 10, 1941. When living on Graysmarsh Farm at Sequim, Washington during the war years, she substituted at the Sequim Consolidated Schools, including Carlsberg and Dungeness, in the primary grades, for one year. Ernest and Myrtle also lived for short times in Edison, Yakima, Seattle, and Everett Washington and for two years lived in Idaho Falls, Idaho. In 1950 they moved to 6006 Barr Road in Ferndale, Washington. She and her family enjoyed the rural life and the wonderful view from the farm. She especially enjoyed gardening and attending to her rose garden. They joined Zion Lutheran Church where they were active members. Myrtle enjoyed working with the teachers and Sunday school children. There were kindergarten through third graders in the special upstairs Sunday School room. She also sang in the choir and attended Ladies' Circle and Scope bible study meetings for over 20 years. She was an active 19-year volunteer coordinator with Project Concern in Ferndale. Myrtle fulfilled her dream of visiting her father's hometown of Skiftun, Norway in 1972. She was preceded in death by: her parents; Ernest Olstead, her husband of fifty years; an infant brother; brother Johannes Knudsvig; and two children Erma Karen and Mervin Olstead. She is survived by her son, Halvar and his wife, Alvina of Bellingham and their three children Melody, Wendy, and Josie; her brother George and his wife Gerd of Grand Forks, North Dakota; sister-in-law Viola Knudsvig of Upham, North Dakota; and cousin Ruth Wagar and family, numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2002 at Zion Lutheran Church, Ferndale, WA.

OLTMAN, Amy, 96, a former teacher in Whatcom County and a Bellingham resident for 53 years, died in a Portland, Ore., nursing home March 7, (1989). At her request, there was immediate cremation. Private family services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, 5911 Northwest Drive. She was born to Harvey and Olive Stauffer on Jan. 8, 1893, in Deming. She graduated from Whatcom High school in Bellingham in 1913 and taught elementary school at a two-room schoolhouse at North Prairie in Whatcom County. While teaching, she met Otto Oltman. They were married in Bellingham on May 8, 1917, and moved there the following year. Otto Oltman founded Oltman Insurance Agency Inc., which still operates in Bellingham. He died in 1971. After her husband's death, Mrs. Oltman moved to Portland to be near her daughter, Elaine Benedict, and her daughter's family. Mrs. Oltman also was preceded in death by her son, Don, in 1976. Survivors in addition to her daughter include four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

OLTMAN, Beatrice Irene, of Lynden died Thursday, June 17, 1993, at Christian Rest Home in Lynden. She was 97. Burial was held in Greenwood Cemetery. A family memorial service is palnned. Born Aug. 7, 1895 in Los Angeles to Andrea and Andrew Anderson, she married John F. Oltman of Sedro-Woolley on Dec. 29, 1920. She was a resident of Whatcom County for 72 years, moving from Sedro Woolley to a farm on Van Dyk Road. She moved to Christian Rest Home in August 1991. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and playing the piano. She played for family and friends and for activities at Ten Mile Grange and other organizations. She was preceded in death by sisters Mildred Holt and Elsa Swanson, by brother Herman Anderson and by a grandchild, Stephen Oltman. Survivors include her husband; daughters Jeanne Oltman of Lynden and Donna Larsen of Everson; son Richard Oltman of Lynden; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two nephews. Arrangements are by Gillies Funeral Home.

OLTMAN, Carl B., age 76 of 1400 Front St., Lynden, passed away Monday July 4, (1977). Born in Goodland, Kansas, Mr. Oltman had been a Lynden resident for more than 74 years. A retired farmer, Mr. Oltman had attended the Lynden United Methodist Church, was a member of the Ten Mile Grange and had also been active in the Lynden Senior Citizens. He had also been a Commissioner of Lynden Cemetery District No. 10. On January 15, 1924 he was married to Ida Connor in Bellingham. Besides his wife Ida, he is survived by a son, Harold of Bellingham, 2 daughters, Mrs. Jim (Wanda) Shelly of Lynden and Mrs. Jim (Myrna) Visser of Ferndale, 2 brothers, John of Lynden and Herman in California, 2 sisters, Mrs. Frances Fullner in California and Mrs. Elsie Heitzman in Seattle, 19 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wed. July 6 at 11 a.m. in the Lynden United Methodist Church with Rev. Marvin Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in the Lynden Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Gillies Funeral Home, Lynden.

OLTMAN, Claudia Gertrude, age 45 years, of Wallace, Idaho, passed away Monday, December 24, (1951) following a brief illness. Mrs. Oltman had formerly been a resident of Bellingham for 44 years. She is survived by her husband, John B., of Bellingham; one daughter, Mrs. Donald Millar, of Wenatchee; one son, Raymond Turner, of Bellingham; five sisters, Mrs. Carl Joneli, of this city, Mrs. Mary Hatrick, of Yakima, Mrs. Louise Phillips, of Everett, Mrs. Fron Haworth, of Auburn, and Mrs. Barbara O'Connell, of Kent; six brothers, Albert Bucher, of Alger, Carl, Steve, Alford and George Bucher, all of California, and Henry Bucher, of Kent. Prayers will be said Friday, December 28, at 7:30 p. m. from the chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral home and prayers will be offered for Claudia G. Oltman Saturday, December 29, at 10 a.m. from the chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns funeral home. Interment, Bay View Cemetery.

OLTMAN, Donald R., age 51 of 1113 Toledo St., passed away at home, Sunday Oct. 24th, (1976). A lifetime resident of Bellingham he owned & operated Oltman Insurance Agency and had served with the U.S. Air Force during WWII, he was a member of the VFW, American Legion Drum & Bugle Corp, The Bellingham Symphonic Band and BPOE Lodge No. 194. Surviving are his wife Betty at home, 2 daughters, Sharon of Seattle and Patricia of Bellingham. His mother Mrs. O. L. Oltman of Portland, Ore., a sister Mrs. Elaine Benedict of Portland, Ore., 4 brothers-in-law, Arthur & Charles Mitchell both of Seattle, Walter Mitchell of Calif., and Henry Mitchell in New Jersey. Also 4 nephews. Funeral services will be held in Veroskes Bellingham Chapel, Wed. Oct. 27th at 1:00 p.m. followed by cremation.

OLTMAN, Dora B., age 77 of 415 5th Street, Lynden passed away in a local rest home Sunday, Dec. 30, (1963) following an extended illness. She had been a resident of the Laurel and Lynden district since 1889 and was a member of the Laurel Grange and a charter member of the Laurel Orthopedic Guild. Surviving are her husband Fred, two sons Wesley, of Lynden, and Charles of Corvallis, Ore. One daughter Mrs. Dorothy L. Anderson of Lynden. Also seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden, Thursday, Jan. 3 at 2 p.m. with Rev. James Updike officiating. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.

OLTMAN, Fred, age 99, of 2726 Alderwood, Bellingham, passed away Wed., Jan. 11, (1978). A long time farmer in the Laurel area and a member of the Laurel Grange. Surviving 2 sons, Wesley and Charles Oltman of Bellingham; daughter, Dorothy Anderson of Lynden; a brother, Rudy Oltman of Shelton; a sister, Ida Johnson of Crescent City, CA; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in Veroskes Bellingham Chapel, Fri., Jan. 13 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Finney officiating. Burial in Greenacres Memorial Park.

OLTMAN, John B. "Ben," age 78, of 409 York St. passed away Wed. Aug. 31, (1977). Mr. Oltman had resided in B'ham for the past 26 yrs. and was retired from Darigold. He was a veteran of WWII, was a member of the VFW and Disabled Veterans. He leaves to survive 3 sons; Jack L. of Calif; Donald H. of Seattle; and Norman of Hawaii; 3 sisters, Mrs. Metta Reid, Mrs. Johanna Ullstrom and Mrs. Marie Elsner all of this city; numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Friday, Sept. 2 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of the Westford Funeral Home with Reverend Neil Snider officiating followed by cremation.

OLTMAN, John Freiderik - A graveside service for John Freiderik Oltman of Bellingham will be held at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Lynden, with the Rev. Charles Kleinhesselink officiating. Mr. Oltman died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Bellingham Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. He was 103. He was born Oct. 1, 1896, to Bernhardt and Karolina (Meier) Oltman in a one-room sod house in Goodland, Kan. The family moved to Washington when Mr. Oltman was 4 years old and they lived on a 60-acre stump ranch on Wiser Lake Road in Lynden. Mr. Oltman attended Greenwood Elementary School while working with his father, clearing their land. When he was 18, he attended Seattle Engineering School, where he studied automobile mechanics for two years. On Dec. 29, 1920, he married Beatrice Anderson, whom he met while working at Abbot Auto Co. They later moved to a farm, which he bought, on Van Dyk Road in Lynden. He was a dairy and crop farmer. In 1923, Mr. Oltman bought, tore-down and rebuilt The Lynden Tribune building on his farm and turned it into a Ford Motor Co. agency and automobile repair shop. Mr. Oltman was a former member of the Elks and Ten Mile Grange. He enjoyed music, dancing, fishing, hunting, horses and sharing his German songs and stories. While he was a resident at Bellingham Health Care & Rehabilitation Center, he also enjoyed studying other people's genealogy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, sisters Elsie Heitzman and Frances Fullner, brothers Carl and Herman Oltman, and one grandchild. Survivors include daughters Jeanne Oltman of Bellingham and Donna Larsen of Everson, son Richard Oltman of Lynden, six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other family members. Arrangements are by Gillies Funeral Home of Lynden.

OLTMAN, Richard A., age 75, of Lynden, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, February 26, 2004. A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, March 1, at 2:00 pm in Lynden Cemetery. The son of John and Beatrice (Anderson) Oltman, he was born on the family farm on the VanDyk Road on September 25, 1928. He attended Lynden schools and then became a dairy farmer. He was married to Barbara Harrison on March 17, 1951 in Everson and enjoyed fishing and gardening. Dick is survived by his wife Barbara; daughter Julie and husband Gary Lankhaar of Lynden; sons Gary Oltman of Ferndale and Greg and wife Donna Oltman of Lynden; five grandchildren; sisters Jeanne Oltman in Southern California and Donna and husband George Larsen of Everson and numerous other relatives. Beside his parents, he was preceded by an infant daughter Richelle in 1952 and son Stephen in 1992. Services and cremation are under the care of Gillies Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Lynden.

OLTMAN, Sophia Louise, age 87, of Deming, passed away at a local hospital Sunday, May 28, (1950) following a lingering illness. Mrs. Oltman was of the Lutheran faith, she had been a resident of Whatcom county for the past 40 years. Surviving relatives include nine daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Brewer, Mrs. Minnie Holly and Mrs. Edith Ryan, all of Denver; Mrs. Sophia Butler of Venice, Calif., Mrs. Margaret Horner and Mrs. Cora Falk, both of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Marie Fisner [Elsner] of Lynden, and Mrs. Metta Reid and Mrs. Johanna Ullstrom, both of Bellingham; one son, John Ben Oltman of Deming; 29 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 31, at 1:30 p.m. within the Chapel of the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home with the Rev. Judson L. Crary officiating. Interment in the Lynden Cemetery.

OLTMAN, Theda, age 79 of 1716 Iron Street, passed away at a local hospital Tuesday, April 19, (1955). Mrs. Oltman had resided in Bellingham for the past 55 years and was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Grace Jansen of Barnsville, Minn.; two granddaughters, Mrs. Lois Hill of Roseberg, Ore., Mrs. Theda Jonas of Monroe; one niece, Mrs. Beryl English of this city; seven grandchildren. The remains rest at the Bingham-Dahlquist & Jerns Funeral Home where services will be conducted by the Rev. E. M. Butenshon, Friday, April 22, at 3 p.m. Final resting place, Bay View.

OLTMAN, Wesley Robert - A memorial service for Wesley Robert Oltman of Bellingham will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Northlake Community Church, with the Rev. Bill Gilfillan officiating. Private, family burial will be in Greenacres Memorial Park. Mr. Oltman died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was 84. Born Sept. 20, 1915, to Fred and Dora (White) Oltman in Bellingham, he was a descendent of early pioneers and a lifetime Whatcom County resident. In 1933, he graduated from Meridian High School. Mr. Oltman served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On June 13, 1939, he married Gladys Sheppard at her parents' home in Lynden. Mr. Oltman worked as a bakery driver and salesman for more than 40 years. Mr. Oltman was a Boy Scouts of America leader for more than 11 years, served as a board member for the Meridian School Board for nine years and was one of the founders of the Gooseberry Point Volunteer Fire Department. His sister Dorothy Anderson died previously. Survivors include his wife, of the family home daughter Joyce Ellingson of Bellingham son Fred Oltman of Shoreline brother Charles Oltman of Bellingham eight grandchildren seven great-grandchildren and many other family members.

OLUND, Albert "Virg" of Bellingham, WA, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2006 in Bellingham. He was 86, born in Ferndale on February 23, 1920 to Nellie (Larson) and John Olund. Virg served in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1946. He married Arlene Hansen on February 25, 1944, in Bellingham. For several years, he worked for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Whatcom Lodge #151 F&AM, past member of Maple Leaf Chapter #158, William Matthews Post #1585 VFW, and Central Lutheran Church. Virg loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and was an avid sports fan and bowler. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Arlene, of the family home; daughters: Sharon Teats of Kennewick, Judy and husband John Holz of Bellingham; 4 grandchildren: Stacy and husband Dan Vaudrin of Kennewick, Debbie Morse of Bellingham, Denis and husband Steve Newlin of TX, Mike and Carla Holz of Bellingham; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 15th in the Bayview Chapel at the funeral Home.

OLUND, Herbert W., age 73, of 6277 Vista Dr., Ferndale, passed away Mon., Oct. 1, 1984. Herb was a lifetime resident of the Ferndale community, a WWII army veteran, and a member of the Kulshan Post No. 154 American Legion. He is survived by 2 brothers, Harry and his wife Margaret Olund of Bellingham, A. Virgil and his wife Arlene Olund of Lynden; 1 sister, Verna and her husband Lester Johnson of Mt. Vernon; 3 nieces; 2 nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Ralph Poulson Fri., Oct. 5, 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Moles Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenacres Memorial Park.

OLUND, John G., age 76, of Route 2, Ferndale, passed away in a Mount Vernon hospital, Thursday, Jan. 9, (1958) following an extended illness. He had been a resident of Whatcom County for the past 52 years. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Hulda Smith of Ferndale; Mrs. Verna Sward of Mount Vernon, and Mrs. Elsie Blechinger of Tacoma; three sons, Herbert and Harry of Ferndale; Virgil of Bellingham; two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Rhen in Minnesota; Miss Amalia Olund in Sweden; five grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted in the Monroe Funeral Chapel in Ferndale, Saturday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. Final resting place, Enterprise.

OLUND, John Victor, age 68 years, of Hoquiam, Wn., passed away in that city Nov. 18, (1952). He was a member of the Lutheran Church and is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Astrid Johnson, city; Mrs. Laura Loch, San Francisco, Calif., Katheryne Calwell, Sacramento, Calif., 4 grandchildren; 1 brother, John, Ferndale; 1 sister in Minnesota and 1 sister in Sweden. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 1:30 p.m. in the Enterprise Cemetery with Rev. Oscar Jacobson pastor of the Central Lutheran Church officiating under the direction of the Westford-Beck Funeral Home.

OLUND Margaret P., age 84, of Bellingham passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2005. She was born on October 12, 1921 in Ord, Nebraska to Victor and Mary (Coppens) Desmul. Margaret was a graduate of Lynden High School and married Harry Olund on April 25, 1942 in Lynden, WA. He preceded her in death in December of 2000. Years ago she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Margaret loved to sew and make hook rugs and fruit baskets. She was also very talented at arranging flowers. Margaret is survived by hr son Robert (Teresa) Olund of Ferndale, WA; brother-in-law, Virgil (Arlene) Olund of Bellingham; granddaughters, Susie Schuchard, Melissa Whitemon and Cassandra Olund, all of Ferndale; four great-granddaughters; and one great-grandson. A Funeral Service will be held On Thursday, October 27, 2005 at 11 a.m. in the Greenacres|Moles funeral Home Chapel.
