Barbara Dalton Krantz Newton Hurt, Pittsylvania Co VA Barbara Dalton Newton, 71, passed away with loved ones in her home on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, after a long battle with rheumatoid arthritis. Born January 29, 1938, in Hurt, she was the daughter of the late Dameron and Mary Dalton. She is survived by her devoted husband, Curtis Willard Newton of Rustburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Gladys Cox, Beurnice Henderson, and Dot Warden; one brother, Alvin Krantz; and first husband, Nelford Krantz of Altavista. As well as her husband, Mrs. Newton leaves behind two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Aaron and Nancy Dalton of Richmond; Carval and Doris Dalton of Orlando, Fla.; and one sister, Beulah Gregory of Danville. Continuing to carry her loving memories are cherished family members; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Tony Garland and JoAnn Krantz of Washington, N.C.; Larry Steven and Sherrie Wimmer Krantz of Lynchburg; Troy Dean Krantz of Radford, Va.; Michael Ted Newton and Melanie Parrish of Richmond, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Tina Newton and Russell Keith Cox of Erlangen, Germany; nine grandchildren, Katrina Krantz Stokes and Tony Jonathon Krantz, Aimee Parrish Purvis, Kristy Parrish Ward, Erica Krantz Hudson and Kandace Krantz, Courtney, Kurt and Tye Cox; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Parrish and Wesley Stokes. Mrs. Newton was a member of Altavista Church of Christ and also attended Sandy Bottom Christian Church. She was passionate about gardening and flowers, leaving behind many beautiful examples of her love for landscaping. She loved music and reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
