MACLIN - My mother was a Maclin. They settled in MS from VA in mid 1800's I believe they come from Greensville county. census's show them as from Benjamin Maclin and Elizabeth B. of Greenville Co. I found a marriage of the two? in Greenville Co in 1810. They were in the census till after 1830. I need to confirm that it is them. would like land deeds and any info. I would like more info about the Nat Turner riot of 1831 in neighboring Co. B Maclin was a slave owner and the riot may have influenced the move. Is there a list of the people killed in the riot.

COUSINS, INGE, PRITCHETT - Any information on Joseph, John, Joshua D. (Sr and Jr.). Lt. John, b. 1740 Dinwiddie co, was commissioned 22 Feb 1779 Brunswick co., in the Virginia Militia and later in Greensville co., qualified for his commission 22 Aug 1782 in the Greensville co Militia. He was appointed Sheriff 15 Oct 1794 of Greensville by Commission of the Lt. Governor. He posted Sheriffs bonds for Two Thousand Pounds. Would appreciate any information about him and/or his wife, Elizabeth, and children. His son Joshua was my GGGGrandfather.

Joshua D Sr. married Elizabeth Cousins. Joshua D. Jr. married Elizabeth M. Inge. After Joshua D Jr. died in 1847 Eliza came to Texas 1857 & settled Grayson county, Tx. She was my GGGrandmother. I would welcome email or written correspondence on anything on these relatives. They lived in Chas City, then Prince George and finally settled in Brunswick 1720 - 1800. Sometime in early 1800's they moved to Pittsylvania county.

WHITTINGTON - JOHN WHITTINGTON - Looking for proof of John Whittington's parents. In "Register of Albemarle Parish Surry and Sussex Counties 1739-1778", page 13 it states that "Cornelius Whittington, s. of John Whittington and w. Sarah; b. April 24, C. Aug 20, 1740 (9); gdpts, Burril Gilliam, Thos. Battle, Winnifred Woodroffe. John's children were baptized in Albemarle Parish, Surry and Sussex Counties, Virginia. Surry was formed in 1652 from James City County; Brunswick County was formed in 1720 from Surry, Prince George, Isle of Wight Counties; Sussex County was formed in 1753 from Surry County; Greensville County was formed in 1780 from Brunswick and Sussex Counties. John's children by wife Sarah (Woodroffe) were Cornelius b. 24 Apr 1749; Sarah b. 23 Dec 1750; Richard b. 16 Jan 1753; Ephraim b. 27 Mar 1758. I have assertions that John's father and mother were (1) John whittington of Queen Anne County, MD and Elizabeth Whittington, dau. of Joshua Whittington and Betty Nairn. Atalanta was probably born in Greensville County but James may have been born somewhere else in Virginia. VAUGHAN - I see that the Orphans Book has the names of a number of Vaughan children listed for the period of 1780-1790. I have looked for years for the parents of Peyton Vaughan who was born circa 1778 in Greenville Co. He shows Greenville Co., Va. as his place of birth on the 1850 census of Warren Co., NC and age as 72. After seeing the orphan records, it occured to me that he could have been from the same family although he is not listed. If anyone has ever seen the name of Peyton Vaughan or Peyton Vaughn in Greenville Co., Va. records, I would be thrilled to find him.
