REDDING - I need the names of the ancestors of the William Redding, born in 1736 in Virginia, who fought in the Revolutionary War. William was married to Patty Parham, daughter of John and Eliz. Parham, in Virginia. William and Patty Redding had at least three children, Charles, Arthur and Anderson. Two of the sons, Charles and Anderson, also fought in the Revolutionary War. At least two of the three Reddings were in attendance at Yorktown when Lord Cornwallis surrendered. Before the war he and his family lived in Sussex or Greensville Co., Virginia, most likely, Greensville Co. It appears that the William Redding family moved from Virginia to Georgia about 1785. William's will was proven 28 Oct. 1822 in Baldwin Co., Georgia. Records show that Henry Redding 22, James Redding 19, and Jereemy Redding 18 imbarked in the merchant ship Bonaventure from London for Virginia in 1634. It is a Redding family tradition that this William Redding is a descendant of one of the three.
