OFFICERS-A joint installation of officers of Captain A M Wetherill Camp No 5, United Spanish War Veterans and the Auxiliary will be held at 8 pm Wednesday at Odd Fellows Hall, Sixth and York streets, Newport. George Rickerson, junior vice commander; Fred H New; adjutant; Fred B Babin, quartermaster; George Harris, trustee; A C Eberhardt, patriotic instructor; John Bottleberger, historian; John Allstock, chaplain; Peter Baker, officer of the day; Alvin Jefferies, officers guard; Frank Haas, sergeant major; William Geule, quartermaster sergeant; Michael Sullivan, senior color sergeant; Byrd L Turner, junior color sergeant; Palmer Herthel, chief musician; William Frommel, A C Eberhardt and John Bottleberger, auditing committee.

BASKET-A basket picnic will be given by Capt. A M Wetherill Camp Saturday at Campbell County Park, South Newport. George W Harris is general chairman. Alvin Jeffries will be officer of the day. Della Rickerson and Palmer Herthel, commander of the camp, will serve as ex-officio members of the committee. Members of the committee are; William Frommel, William Maxmiller, Edward Stanley, George Rickerson, Fred H Neu, Harry Keitz, Emma Neu, Josephine Herthel, Katherine Jeffries, Carrie Bottelberger, Amelia Heintz, Neil Knorhn, Elizabeth Geule and Carrie Harris.

A M Wethrill Camp No 5 United Spanish Veteran installed the following officers for the 1952 years; Harry R Pepper, commander; Louis Maier, senior vice Commander; Ransom Wilson, junior vice commander; John Foreman, trustee; Albert Volz, officer of day; Palmer Herthel, officer of guard; Paul Copeland, chaplain and patriotic instructor; Edward Stanley, quartermaster; Lee Nolan, adjutant; Chester J Drown, color sergeant; Palmer Herthel, chief musician; Madison M Short, Clifford Bucher and Chester J Drown entertainment committee. It was announced that the annual encampment of the National United Spanish War Veterans will be held in Louisville during August.

DEATH-Services for Palmer J Herthel, 73, who died Tuesday at his home, 218 E 10th street, Newport, will be held at 9:30 am Saturday at the Betz Funeral home, Newport. Burial will be in St Stephen Cemetery. Mr. Herthel was past commander of Capt. Wetherill Camp, United Spanish American War Veterans; former head of Noah Dove Lodge; Odd Fellows, Newport and past commander of Rankin-Prout-Carius Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Members of the Noah Dove Lodge will meet for services at 8 pm Friday at the funeral home and Wetherill members the same evening. Friends may call after 2 pm Friday. He leaves two daughters, Mrs. Malbon Larosa snd Mrs. Sylvia Garnich, Newport; three sons, Douglas and Carlisle Herthel and Clarence Ward all of Newport; a sister Mrs. Cora Kelly, Newport; two brothers Benjamin, Indiana and Oliver, Ohio; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
