FLAG RAISING-"There is a proper time to fight and when that time arrives no one should be too proud to fight," declared Rev John Ervin Sunday at the flag raising at the First Presbyterian church, Dayton. Members of the GAR Junior Order and DofA participated in the exercises. The flag was unfurled by Samuel Emerson and Jesse Green, Civil War veterans.

VETERAN-Samuel W Emerson, 82, Civil War veteran and member of the GAR lodge of Dayton, died Friday night at his home, 141 Fifth av. Dayton. The funeral will be held Monday at 2 pm with services at the residence. Members of the Joe Hooker Post of Dayton will take part in the funeral. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
