Washington Higginson was the youngest of fourteen children of George Higginson and Mary Stockwell.

He married Eliza Crews, daughter of Williamson Crews and Margery Marks, 19 Jun 1833 Henderson Co KY and they became the parents of ten children.

Wash and Eliza Higginson are the 3-great-grandparents of Carole Palmer.

Eliza Crews Higginson, 1813-1900, is buried at Crews Cemetery.
