James E. Bridwell was the son of Fielding Bridwell and Martha H. Briscoe

He married Emily Jewell, the 17-year-old daughter of his stepfather Presley Jewell, 29 Jan 1852 in Bullitt County. Emily died in October 1853 and she is buried in this cemetery.

James E. Bridwell later married Ann Eliza Thornberry, the daughter of Russell Knight Thornberry and Emeline Poole, 18 Jun 1854 Henderson County and they became the parents of fifteen children.
