Presley Jewell 1800 - 1865 See Frank Melton's later photo of this stone. Presley Jewell is believed to have been the son of Sanford and Susan Jewell of Prince William County VA and later of Spencer County KY. He married Nancy Skinner 18 Sep 1823 Bullitt County KY and they became the parents of nine children. Nancy Skinner died before 1850. Presley Jewell married 2) Patsy Briscoe Bridwell, the widow of Fielding Bridwell and the mother of seven children, 1 Oct 1850 Bullitt County. They moved their merged families to Henderson County about that time. Presley Jewell's oldest son Felix married Mary Ann Gardiner 2 Nov 1854 Union County KY. Felix Jewell left an 1878 Union County will.
Presley Jewell's daughter Emily married James E. Bridwell, Presley's stepson, 29 Jan 1852 in Bullitt County. After the family moved to Henderson County, Emily died of typhoid fever on 1 Oct 1853 and she is buried in this cemetery.
Barnett Jewell, the brother of Presley Jewell, married Patsy's oldest daughter, Susan Bridwell 21 Nov 1850 Bullitt County and they are also buried in this cemetery.
Another brother of Presley, William Jewell, is buried in this cemetery.
Several children of Presley Jewell and Nancy Skinner settled in Ralls County, Missouri.
