CEDAR LANE - Lawrence Edison, 78, of Cedar Lane, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2005.

He was born Aug. 15, 1926, in Cedar Lane, to the late Louis and Arilla Dugard Edison.

Survivors: sister, Viola Gertrude Fletcher of Brazoria.

Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Berean Baptist Church, the Rev. Murray Griggs Sr. officiating.

Burial will be at Edison Cemetery. Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home, Bay City, 979-245-5197.

Edward W. Gee

Houston, Edward Wayne Gee, 51, of houston, formerly of Cedar Lane, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006 in Houston.

He was born Oct. 8, 1955, in Bay City, to Edward and Hattie Edison Gee.

Survivors: wife, Garva Gee of Houston; son, Cecil Brown; sisters, Bernice Williams, Pearl Ree Edison, Dorothy Walton, Mamie Brown, Versie Gee, Judy Gee, Frankie Gee, Esther Gee, and Barbara White; brothers, Rev. Kary Gee, Franklin Gee, Wilson Gee, and Eric Gee; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be 3 - 9 p. m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be 11 a. m. at the First Berean Baptist Church in Cedar Lane, the Rev. Kary Gee officiating.

Hattie B. Gee

Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie B. Gee, 64, of Cedar Lane, will be held 11 a. m. Saturday at First Berean Baptist Church in Cedar Lane, with Rev. Murray Griggs, Sr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Edison Cemetery on Buckner's Prairie in Cedar Lane.

Visitation will be Friday until 9 p. m. in the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel, and Saturday from 10 until 11 a. m. at the church.

She was born in Boise, Louisiana, Tuesday, August 2, 1932, to Jasper Evans and Pinkie Hampton Evans, and passed away Friday, July 11, 1997 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Jessie James Gee and two children, Jessie Gee, Jr. and Audrey Pearl Gee. Also three granddaughters, LaTarsha, Tre'Onna and Cantel Gee; a great-grandchild, Jalin, and a step-daughters, Margaret Gee and godchild, TaQuisha Williams, all of Cedar Lane.

She also leaves four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Mrs. Joe Ann York (& James), Mrs. Dorothy Gaines, Mrs. Betty Williams (& Artvel) and Mrs. Barbara Cross (& James), all of Houston. Also one brother and sister-in-law, Virgil Johnson (& Diane) of Houston.

Other survivors include a father and mother-in-law, Lewis and Jessie Edison Williams, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Rosetta Woods and Mrs. Shirley Hall, and one brother-in-law, Vernon L. Brown. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Clarence Brown, Johnnie Fisher, Carl Woods, Vernon Bell, Albert Hall, Jr., Elroy Griggs, Lewis Griggs and Ben Griggs.

Honorary pallbearers will include Artvel Williams, Darrel York, Michael Cross, Marquis Johnson, James York, Jr. and Eric Sidney.

Benjamin Louis Sorrell
Dec. 28, 1943 - May 6, 2009

Funeral services for Benjamin Louis Sorrell, 65, formerly of Cedar Lane, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009 at First Berean Baptist Church, Cedar Lane, with the Rev. Gilbert Franklin, pastor, and the Rev. James Roberson, eulogist. Burial will follow at Edison Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel.

He was born in Cedar Lane, Texas, December 28, 1943, to J. B. Sorrell and Luvenia Moore Sorrell, and passed away May 6, 2009, in Bay City.

Survivors include: two daughters, Jacklyn Rogers (and Howard) of Houston, and Sheree Sekou (and Malik) of St. Thomas, and one son, Arkeith Brown, Sr. (and Vivian) of Bay City. Also one sister, Nina Roberson (and the Rev. James) of Bay City, and three brothers, Earnest Sorrell, Sr. (and Naomi) of Texas City, Eddie Sorrell, Sr. of Richwood, and Eugene Sorrell of Cedar Lane. Also two grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two aunts, one uncle, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

JESSIE LEE WILLIAMS

Funeral service for Jessie Lee Williams, 82, of Cedar Lane will be Saturday November 17, 2001 at 1 p.m. at First Berean Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Lane with the Rev. Murray Griggs officiating. Burial will follow at Edison No. 3 Cemetery in Cedar Lane .

She will lie in state at First Berean Missionary Baptist Church Saturday from noon until 1 p.m. Visitation will be Friday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Greens Mortuary.

Jessie Lee Williams was born on
July 7, 1919 to parents Louis and Amilia Edison in Cedar Lane . She passed away November 13, 2001 at the Legacy Matagorda House Healthcare Center in Bay City .

She is survived by: her loving children, Rosetta A. Woods and Shirley A. Hall and Albert Sr. of Cedar Lane; two sons, Jessie James Gee Sr. of Cedar Lane and Vernon Lee Brown and Earline of Galveston; sister Viola Gertrude Fletcher of Brazoria; brother Lawerence Edison of Bay City; sister-in-law, Rosalie Lee Griggs of Cedar Lane; grandchildren, Reemonica Woods Batiste and DeAndre, Shirley Pena and Abraham, Albert and Hall Jr., Traci, Ollie A Hall, Margaret Ann Gee, Audrey Pearl Gee, Jessie James Gee, Jr., Marion Brown, and Kenneth Brown; special great grandaughter Taquisha Williams; 11 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; special nephew Elroy Griggs of Brazoria and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

Active pallbearers are J. D. Green, Eddie Griggs, Ben Greggs, Lewis Griggs, Clarence Green, Deacon J. D. Gatson, Deacon Anthony Edison, Deacon John Wright and Wilbert Smith.

Lewis K. Williams

Funeral services for Lewis K. Williams, 88,of Cedar Lane will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2001 at 1 p.m. at St. Marks Missionary Baptist Church in Cedar Lane with the Reverend Hebert Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Edison Cemetery No. 3 in Cedar Lane .

Mr. Lewis will lie in state at St. Marks Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday from noon to 1 p.m.

On December 8, 1912 , Lewis Williams was born to the union of Plez Williams and Rebecca Gee Williams in Cedar Lane . He passed away January 10, 2001 at the Matagorda House Healthcare Center in Bay City .

He is survived by his wife, Jessie Lee Williams of Cedar Lane; two daughters, Rosetta A. Woods of Cedar Lane, Shirley A. Hall and Albert hall, Sr., of Sweeny; two sons, Jessie James Gee, Sr. of West Columbia, Texas, Vernon Brown and Earline of Galveston, Texas; one sister Rosalie Lee Griggs of Cedar Lane; nine grandchildren, ReeMonica Woods, Batiste and DeAndre, Shirley Pena and Abraham, Albert Hall, Jr., Ollie A. Hall, Jessie James Gee, Jr., Audrey Pearl Gee, Margaret Ann Gee, and Marylin Brown, and Kenneth Brown; three great grandchildren, a special nephew, Elroy Griggs of Brazoria, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
