Funeral services for Cunnie Brooks, 86, of Bay City, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2007 at Tyree Chapel A.M.E. Church, Bay City, with the Rev. J.T. Garnett, eulogist. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home chapel.

She was born in Live Oak, Texas, November 9, 1920, to Henderson Bouldin and Asa Dale Bouldin, and passed away April 23, 2007, in Bay City, Texas.

Cunnie attended the Live Oak School, Hilliard High School, and graduated from Central High School, Galveston, Texas, in 1938. Afterward, she attended Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas. There, she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and Homemaking, and a Master of Science Degree in Education. She was certified in Early Childhood education at Prairie View University, Prairie View, with further studies at Trinity University, San Antonio, Texas, Texas A & I University, Kingsville, Texas, and Baylor University, Waco, Texas. Her career in education span 45 having taught in the Van Vleck and Bay City public schools.

Survivors include: a daughter, Jean A. Williams; and four grandsons, Lenard Wilkerson and Barry Wilkerson, both of Bay City, Kevin Wilkerson of Long Beach, California, and Christopher Williams of Missouri City; and two great-grands, Tiera Williams and Kriza Williams, (and Derrick Brown, deceased). Also one sister, Pearl Perry (and Reginald) and one brother, Arnold Brown, other relatives and friends.

Pinkie Mae Brooks

Funeral services for Pinkie Mae Brooks, 69, of Markham, Texas will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2000 at 2 p.m. at Vine Grove Christian Church in Live Oak Community with the Rev. Larry Fletcher pastor and Elder Sam William officiating. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Live Oak Community.

Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon until 9 p.m. Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. in the chapel at Green's. Mrs. Brooks will lie in state at the Church, Wednesday, May 10, 2000 from 1-2 p.m.

Mrs. Brooks was born Feb. 12, 1931 to Caldwell and Mary Brown in Live Oak, Texas. She passed away Thursday, May 4, 2000 at Sea Breeze Health Care in Bay City, Texas.

Survivors are: her two sons, Hezekiah Brooks, Jr. (Darlean) of Bay City and Izara Robert Brooks (Jana) of Houston; seven daughters, Mary Jane Woodard Payne of Hepzibah, Ga., Estella Lewis and Amanda Brooks of Bay City, Tennie Linear (James) of Angleton, Lorise Cofield, Janice Hopes (Rickey) and McLotta Fields (Hebert Lee) of Bay City; five brothers, Cash, Hayward, Irving, and Casanova Brown of Houston and A. J. Smith of Brazoria; three sisters, Irma Lee Tolbert of Freeport, Patricia Random and Annie Lee Smith of Cedar Lake; 22 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.

Active pallbearers: Curtis Brown, Bobby Smith, Chester W. Lewis, Hebert Lee Fields, Clements Brown, and Charles Cofield.

Honorary pallbearers: Bobby Hopes, Andrae Hopes, Tommy Hopes, William Linear, Robert Comfort, Kirk Jenkins, Damion Cofield, and James Linear, Jr.

BAY CITY - Alberta Irene Brown, 80, of Bay City, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005.

She was born Dec. 20, 1924, in Bay City, to the late Hamp Sr. and Irene Times Brown.

Survivors: son, Ronald Brown of Bay City; sister, Eula Brown of Bay City; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Sacred Memorial Christian Church, the Rev. Terrell Aldridge officiating.

Rev. Caldwell Brown

Funeral services for the Rev. Caldwell Brown, age 92, of Bay City, will be held Sunday, Feb. 25, at noon, at the Vine Grove Christian Church in Live Oak, with the Rev. Larry Fletcher officiating, and the Rev. Cleophus Brown, presiding, Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery in Live Oak.

Visitation will be Saturday until 9 p. m. in the chapel of Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.

Rev. Brown was born in Live Oak, Thursday, June 18, 1903, to Tim Brown and Esther Mathenia Brown, and died Sunday, Feb. 18, 1996, in Bay City.

In 1965, he was ordained as minister at Bethlehem Christian Church under the leadership of the Rev. Lloyd Brown, and later served as assistant pastor. In 1973, he was installed as pastor of Vine Grove Christian Church in Live Oak, and served faithfully until his retirement in 1984.

His civic, fraternal and religious affiliations included memberships with the Farmer’s Coop., Texas Christian Missionary Fellowship, Area Senior Citizens and the Progressive Order of Pilgrims.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Erma Lee Johnican of Angleton, Mrs. Pinkie Mae Brooks of Bay City, and Mrs. Patricia Randon of Cedar Lake, and four sons, Cash Brown, Sr. of Conroe, Irving Brown, Sr., Hayward Brown and Casanova Brown, all of Houston. Also one step-daughter, Mrs. Annie Lee Smith of Cedar Lake. Also two granddaughters he and his wife Carrie Woodard Brown reared, Mrs. Mary Jane Payne of Hephzibah, Georgia, and Ms. Vanessa Brown of Angleton.

He leaves four sisters, Mrs. Amy Austin, Mrs. Lizzie Earls and Mrs. Odiest Times, all of Bay City, and Ms. Essie T. Brown of Live Oak; and one brother, Earlie Brown of Houston. Also 48 grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, two special friends, Mrs. Ethel McAfee and Mrs. Ola Roberson, a host of nieces, nephews, an extended family of other relatives and many, many friends.

Active pallbearers will include Cash Brown, Jr., Irving Brown, Jr., Leroy Johnican, Hubert Brown, Jr., Garrett Daniels and Bobby Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will include Cash Brown, Sr., Chester Brown, Irving Brown, Sr., Casanova Brown, Hayward Brown and Earlie Brown.

Rev. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Alice Sims and Mrs. Fearlie Johnson, and two brothers, Kenola Brown and Roosevelt Brown, and two sons, Caldwell Brown, Jr. and Hubert Brown, Sr.

Essie T. Brown

Funeral service for Essie T. Brown, 89, of Live Oak, will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Vine Grove Christian Church, Live Oak Community with the Rev. Larry Fletcher, eulogist. Burial will follow in the Live Oak Community Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday from 3 to 9 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

She was born Monday, November 24, 1913 in Live Oak, Texas to Tim Brown and Easter Matheny Brown and passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2002 in the Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas.

She was a loving and devoted mother to her children, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Survivors are, three daughters, Helen (Joe) of Live Oak, Pearl (Reginald) of Clute and Joyce of San Francisco, California; five sons, Roosevelt (Dorothy Ann), Hewitt (Joyce) of Bay City, Sherman (Valese), Arnold (Lorraine) of Houston, and Clemis of Live Oak, sisters, Lizzie Earls and Odiest Times of Bay City, one brother, Earlie (Willie Lee) Brown of Houston, 33 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers will be Patrick Wiggins, Marvin Jones, Aaron Times, Rodrick Perry, Kenis Lewis, Herbert Mays, Baron Brown and DeWayne Brown.

Brown, (Mrs.) Esther, passed away at her home at 2820 Sims in Bay City Saturday afternoon. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at 1:30 p. m. in the Vine Grove Christian Church in the Live Oak Community with the Rev. J. E. Nelson officiating. Interment will be in the Vine Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Brown is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Pear Johnson, Mrs. Amey Austin of Galveston, Mrs. Odessa Thymes, Mrs. Alice Sims of Bay City, Mrs. Essie Brown and Mrs. Lizzie Earls of Live Oak; and four sons, Rev. Rosevelt Brown of San Francisco, Calif., Kenola Brown of Philadelphia, Pa., Rev. Caldwell Brown of Cedar Lake and Earlie Brown of Houston. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Stevens & Sons Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Hamp “Hammie” Brown Jr., 75, of Bay City will be held 11 a. m. Saturday at First Sacred Memorial Christian Church, Bay City, with the Rev. M. L. Boone officiating. Burial will be in Live Oak Cemetery, Live Oak, Texas.

Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel with the family to receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p. m. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a. m. Saturday at the church.

Mr. Brown was born Nov. 12, 1912, in Live Oak to Hamp and Irene Times Brown Sr. and died July 13, 1988, at his residence.

He was a member of Silver Cord Masonic Lodge 296 A. F. & A. M. and the Christian church.

Survivors include three daughters, Mary B. Maxwell of Houston, Geraldine B. Martin of Van Vleck and Gloria B. Moore of Los Angles, Calif.; three sons, Ira Lee of Houston and Charles H. and Lloyd of Bay City; six sisters, Francis Grice and Nona Peters of Los Angeles, Eula Brown, Mae Ethel Brown, Lewis Cornett and Alberta Brown, all of Bay City; two brothers, Jim Brown and Lynsell Brown of Bay City; an aunt Margaret Times of Bay City and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will include members of the Silver Cord Masonic Lodge 296 A. F. & A. M.

Honorary pallbearers include Jack Robinson, Jimmy Scott Sr., John Aldridge, Jim Brown, Lynsell Brown and Clifford Rugeley.

Hixie Brown

Funeral services for Hixie Brown, 93, of Houston will be held 2 p. m. Tuesday at Vine Grove Christian Church in Live Oak with Bishop Earl Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Live Oak Cemetery.

Visitation hours are until 9 p. m. today at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel.

Mr. Brown was born Nov. 12, 1897, to Mack and Ellen Stewart Brown in Live Oak and died March 13, 1991, at Heights Hospital in Houston.

He is survived by four nieces, Lettie Green and Dora Allen of Bay City, Lonnie Allen of Houston and Ruth Allen of Fort Worth; two nephews, Eddie Allen of Bay City and Bishop Bennie Earl Allen of Houston; eight great-nieces and great-nephews; and a number of great-great nieces and nephews; and a number of great-great-great nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Donald Bratcher, Willie Boone Jr., Clemis Brown, James Roberson, Ira Joe Edison, Hewitt Wiggins and Arnold Short.

Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Allen, Phillip Green Jr., Roland Green, Bishop Bennie Earl Allen, the Rev. K. D. Green, Samuel Allen and Roosevelt Allen.
