Christine Brinkley Spiller

As it was the fourth day of December the year Nineteen Hundred and Twenty Nine in the county of Matagorda and the town of Van Vleck; almighty God breathed life into a beautiful baby girl and nestled her in the bosom of her loving mother Rebecca Brinkley and surrounded her with the protection of her father Powell Brinkley. Under the rearing of her parents, she attended the Free System Baptist Church (St. John Missionary Baptist Church). She attended elementary school in Ashwood, TX; middle school in Van Vleck, TX and O. H. Herman High School in Van Vleck, TX.

Sister Christine Spiller was an independent, outspoken, hard working woman that was devoted to her family and the service of God. She shared her beliefs and values whenever the opportunity presented itself. She provided love, counsel, comfort, understanding and direction to her numerous nieces, nephews and her very special three little girls. Aunt Christine or "Aunt Chris" as she was affectionately called by her nieces and nephews delighted in the success of her siblings, nieces, nephews and extended family. She staunchly supported higher education for her family and friends.

As a young woman she met and fell in love with Samuel Spiller. To this union no children were born. Christine enjoyed cooking and most of her employment found her as a culinary artist in the Matagorda Independent School System. Christine also performed domestic duties for several families in the Bay City area.

As it is preordered in God's master plan and presently recorded in the book of life; Christine was rewarded for her labors and released from this world of pain and suffering. Her soul now dwells in that undiscovered country from whose bourne to traveler has returned. She was greeted on Monday, January 6, 2014 by her beloved mother and father, brothers, Charles and Henry Brinkley; aunts and uncles. She leaves to cherish her legacy and memory her sisters, Diana B. (R. D.) Woodard and Glenda Faye Holmes; brothers, John L. Brinkley, Sr., Jonas (Pat) Brinkley and James Brinkley; aunt, Carrie Davis; sister-in-law, Wanda June Brinkley, her foster daughters, Margaret, Julia and Mary Salter; special friend and guardian, Mary Blackburn Dockstader, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

Active pallbearers: Nathaniel Brinkley, Wilbert Brinkley, O'Neal Courtney, John Wayne Brinkley, D'Andre Smith and Leslie Brinkley.

Honorary pallbearers: Jacob Woodard, John Brinkley, Jr., Henry D. Brinkley, Jr., Kenneth Spiller, Bryant Brinkley, Floyd Spiller, Jr. , Billy Spiller, Samuel Spiller and Terry Spiller.
