Funeral services for Alice Grice, 57, of  Bay City, TX. will be Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Mother Zion Missionary Church with the Rev. Murray Martin officiating.

Burial will be in Pledger, TX at Union Baptist Cemetery. Viewing will in the chapel of Green’s Mortuary from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday July 15, 2013.

Final arrangements have been trusted to the caring professionals of Green’s Mortuary 2702 Ave. C, Bay City, Texas 979-245-3489.

Rosa Harris

Funeral services for Rosa Harris, 57, of Pledger, will be at 11 a. m. Thursday, April 30, at the Grove Hill Baptist Church in Pledger, with Rev. Derrick Blunt officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger. Visitation will be Wednesday until 9 p. m. in the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel, and from 10 until 11 a. m. Thursday at the church.

She was born in Pledger, Texas Monday, May 13, 1940, to James Higgins and Mabel Williams, and passed away Friday, April 24, 1998 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Wharton.

Her religious affiliations included membership with Grove Hill Baptist Church, where she served faithfully, and proved to be a good follower.

Her career experiences included employment at Gulf Coast Medical Center for 29 years, where she received several honors.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Charlie Harris of Pledger; a daughter, Barbara Williams of Houston; two sons, Charles Harris of Houston, and Todd Harris of Pledger; also a play-daughter, Trinette Waddy; two grandchildren, Braelon Williams and Tierra Harris; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Ike Higgins with wife, Frankie, and the Rev. Harry Higgins with wife, Virginia, all of Houston, and Ruby Williams of Pledger; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, and a family of many friends.

Honorable mention is made of Eulalia Waddy and Myrtle Hawkins who were very special in her life.

Active pallbearers are Dietrich Waddy, Anthony Armstrong, Herman Spradley, Jesse Williams, David Washington and Nathaniel Dorsey. Honorary pallbearers are Watson Gailes, Roland Waddy, Sr. the Rev. Harry Higgins, John Williams Jr. Todd Harris and Charles Harris.

Funeral services for Harley Jackson, 46, of Freeport will be held 11 a. m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church in Pledger with the Rev. C. W. Floyd officiating. Burial will follow at Union Baptist Cemetery in Pledger.

Visitation hours are until 9 p. m. Friday at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel.

Mr. Jackson was born Oct. 29, 1944, in Wharton County and died Jan. 11, 1991, at Angleton-Danbury Hospital in Angleton.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; six daughters, Ruthie, Dorothy, Irene, Rebecca, Kathy and Rita, all of Angleton; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Abraham Johnson, Raymond Jackson and Robert Jackson of Pledger; two sisters, his twin Vertis Williams and Delois Jackson of Pledger; an uncle, Raymond Felder of Pledger; three aunts, Charity Gailes, Gertrude James and Errie Jefferson of Pledger; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Dennis Davis, Roberts Jackson, Abraham Johnson, Dennis Jackson, Earnest Davis and Raymond Jackson.

Honorary pallbearers are Ernest Taylor Sr., Raymond Felder, Ernest Taylor Jr., Robert Lee See, Benford Davis and Mark Williams.

Arrangements are with Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home of Bay City.
