WARN, BILLY RAY

Billy Ray Warn, 54, of Markham, Texas, died December 25, 2005, at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

He was born October 12, 1951, in Bay City, to Charlie and Dora Troutman Warn.

Billy served in the U.S. Navy from 1971 until 1977, and his favorite pastime was fishing and hanging out with his friends.

Survivors include: parents, Charlie and Dora Warn of Markham; son, B.J. Warn of New Boston, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and D.L. Layton of Bay City, Helen and Buddy Pratt of Ft. Worth, Texas, Dorothy and Henry Havel of West Columbia, Texas, and Lilly and Tony Distasi of Kennedale, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Linda Warn of Kennedale, Texas; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and special friends, Jean Warn and K.T. Eckerd.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Goodman officiating.

Interment followed at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, Texas.

Pallbearers were Lee C. Strelec, Billy Ware, Richard Hendry, James Hanzik, Jessie Satterfield and Larry Cunningham.

Honorary pallbearers were Jennifer and Greg Carter, K.T. Eckerd, Audrey Lovett, Larry Ware and Donald Ludwig.

WARNER, WILLIAM HENRY, SR.

William Henry Warner, Sr., 70, of Bay City, passed away Monday, March 31, 2003 at his residence.

He was born in Vandiver, Tennessee, on Oct. 27, 1932 to parents, Henry Fred and Ollie Blaylock Warner.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy and worked for the Celanese Chemical Company’s Bay City plant for 29 years.

He is survived by: wife, Jo Ann Walker Warner of Bay City; sons and daughters-in-law, William Henry Jr. and Christy Warner of Bay City, and Gregory Paul and Debbie Warner of Palacios; daughters, Cheryl Annette Hayden of Bay City, and Jo Lyia Beck of Nassau Bay; brother, Bobby Gene Warner of Pearland; sisters, Clara Pulley of Oletha, Kansas, and Cleo Barnes of Fredericksburg; nieces, Joyce Ivy and Jeannie Hughes; and 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2003 at the Matagorda Cemetery in Matagorda, Texas, with the Rev. Melvin Ryman officiating.

WELLS, DOUGLAS BENJAMIN

Nov. 15, 1918 - Jan. 14, 2006

Douglas Benjamin Wells 87, of Sweeny, Texas, passed away on January 14, 2006.

He was born in Madison County, Texas, on November 15, 1918.

Doug served his country in the Army Air Corps during WWII.

His avowed goal was to remain healthy and active to take care of his wife as long as she lived, which he did until her death on March 21, 2005.

Doug will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons and daughter-in-law, Douglas Scott Wells and wife, Lois, of Sweeny and David Wayne Wells of Houston; daughters and son-in-law, Lola Cheryl Strother of Baytown, Kathy Terrell and husband, Travis, of LaPorte; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Lorene Wells; brother, Marcus David Wells; and sister, Mildred Baker.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia, Texas

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006, at First Baptist Church Sweeny with the Rev. Jerl Watkins officiating.

Pallbearers will be Douglas Brett Wells, Larry Glen Wells, Andrew Foster Inscore, Anthony Wayne Inscore, Stephen Michael Wells and Travis Michael Terrell.

Donations may be made to Amed Hospice or The Fountains.

Vernon Eugene Werlla

Funeral services for Vernon Eugene Werlla, 45, of Bay City, will be held at 10 am Saturday at Cedar Lane Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Hardaway officiating.  Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. 

Mr. Werlla was born Oct 18, 1939, in San Antonio, and died June 6, 1985, at his residence.

A retired serviceman from the U.S. Navy, he was a member of the American Legion, VFW and Cedar Lane Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Mae Werlla of Cedar Lane and a daughter, Verna Gene Werlla of Booth Bay, Maine. He was preceded in death by his father, Elo J. Werlla in 1978.

Services are under the direction of Dick R. Elkins, Bay City Funeral Home.

WEST, WILLARD DAVID "PAPA"

Willard David “Papa” West of Angleton, Texas went to be with the Lord on May 18, 2003 at the age of 80 years young.

A celebration of Papa’s life will be at 10 a.m., May 21, 2003 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas, with graveside services being held in Cedarvale Cemetery. Pastor Jim Grable of Danbury Baptist Church will be officiating.

Visitation was 5 to 8 p.m. at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 20, 2003.

He was born to Si Joseph and Adella Elizabeth Burgess West on April 14, 1923 in Yoakum, Texas. Willard served his country during WWII. He was with company B 805th Tank Destroyer Battalion with the classification of Technician Fifth Grade. He earned the European African Middle Eastern Ribbon with three Bronze stars, good conduct Medal, three Overseas Bars, and a Purple Heart for being wounded in Italy February 22, 1945. On returning to the states he met and fell in love with Evey Dean Pike. They married in Bay City, Texas the 10th day of August 1945.

Willard was a lifetime member of Bay City Fraternal Order of Eagles and a life time member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was employed by Humble Oil and Drilling and later joined and retired from Carperter’s Local 1084, Angleton, Texas. Willard was a member of Danbury Baptist Church. Papa lived a wonderful full life of joy and giving. Papa loved to spend time with his beautiful wife. Papa enjoyed putting on a BBQ, sharing with friends, dancing , playing pool and, when the feeling hit him, going fishing.

Survivors include his wonderful wife Evey Dean West; sister, Velma West Le June, and children: Marsha and Willie Strelec of Bay City, Texas, Peggy and John Roe of Van Vleck, Texas, David and Judy West of West Columbia, Texas, Janice and Billy Don Crowell of Angleton, Texas, Sammy and Delores West of Wild Peach, Texas and Jimmy and Linda West of Angleton, Texas. He has 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons: Jay Roe, Willie Strelec, Jr., Jimmy West, Jr., Shane West, James Dale Strelec.

Honorary pallbearers will be USMC Michael West, USN David Aaron West, and USMC Stephen West.

Our heart felt thanks and hugs go out to the employees of Cypress Woods Care Center for the wonderful care and assistance they provided to our father, grandfather, great grandfather.

WHITE, ELLIS, SR.

Funeral services for Ellis White, Sr., 77, of Bay City, were held Saturday, April 19, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Jesus FreeWill Holy Temple in Bay City, with Bishop John Johnson, pastor, and the Rev. Fred Jones, eulogist. Burial followed at Eastview Cemetery, Bay City.

He was born in Bay City, Texas, Monday, February 15, 1926, to Octa White and Lucinda Thompson White, and passed away Tuesday, April 15,2003, at Gulf Coast Medical Center, Wharton, Texas.

He was a veteran of the U. S. armed forces.

Survivors include his wife, Joe Ann Sneed White of Bay City; two daughters, Barbara King and Lewis, Lisa Marsh and Rickie, all of Bay City; three sons, Ellis White, Jr. and Lenora, Hollis White of Bay City, and Lloyd White of Houston; one sister, Ossie Lee Williams of Bay City; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grands, one great-great-grand and other relatives.

WHITE, GLEN I.

Former Bay City Mayor Glen I. White, 91, one of the city's most dedicated citizens, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2006.

He was born March 29, 1914, in Blessing, Texas, to the late H. I. and Georgia McDaniels White.

Glen attended schools in Citrus Grove and Blessing. He graduated from Bay City High School in 1932 and began working with his father in the family lumber and hardware business, Bay City Material Company, after one year at Blinn Junior College. He joined the Merchant Marines in 1942, and returned to Bay City Material as co-owner and director following WW II. In 1978 he sold the business.

Among the many hours of dedication to his city and country, he served as a leader or president of the following organizations: Bay City Jaycees, Bay City Lions Club, Bay City Chamber of Commerce, Bay City Industrial Foundation, the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, the volunteer fire department and the United Way. He also was a 50-year-plus member of Bay City Masonic Lodge AF & AM No. 865, Scottish Rite of Galveston, Gulf Coast Shrine Club and the Arabian Temple of Houston.

His contributions to his county's history was demonstrated when he helped establish and later served as chairman of the Matagorda County Museum Association. He also was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1925, and served as an elder there for many years. Community leaders and his peers demonstrated their respect for him when he was elected Bay City Chamber of Commerce's Outstanding Citizen of the Year in 1955.

One of Glen White's proudest accomplishments was serving and working with the local government for many years. He served on City Council for 13 years, and was the Mayor Pro Tem for six of those years under Mayor Richard Gusman. He was elected to two terms as Bay City mayor (1981-1985) and enjoyed being called Mayor White until his death. He was a true civic leader and will be missed in the community. Glen White was a true character in every sense. He never met a stranger, and was always ready to share stories and discuss how he felt about any subject.

He lived his life as a Christian man who loved his wives, his family, his church and his community. He showed his love for Bay City, Matagorda County, and the First Presbyterian Church by participating and volunteering in many charitable organizations, and the city government.

Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Chris Floyd of Deer Park, Phoebe Reading and John Taylor of Houston, Texas, and Patricia Reading and Joe Blandford of Houston; seven grandchildren, Chris Floyd and wife Rhonda, Shawn Floyd, Tabitha Spence and husband Jeremy, Blake Brown and wife Shea, Courtney Bryan and husband Greg, Barrett Blandford and Carlie Blandford; and great granddaughter, Hannah Floyd; and sister, Nora Bremser of Wharton.

He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Nellie Coldwater White; second wife, Maxine Reading White; sisters, Eve Bartlett and Nola Willmarth; and his beloved younger brother, Jack W. White, who was killed in action in Luxembourg during WW II.

Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at the First Presbyterian Church in Bay City, with Dr. W.D. Baker and the Rev. John-Nelson Pope officiating.

Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Denton Leissner, E.M. Huitt, Paul Sliva, Mike Brady, Frank Hurley and Mayor Richard Knapik.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the Bay City Lions Club.

Jack H. White Sr.

Funeral services for Jack H. White Sr., 66, of Markham will be held 2 p. m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Markham with the Rev. Howard Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing.

Mr. White was born Aug. 10, 1924, to Ira Hampton and Vida Mae Saul White in Dallas and died Feb. 24, 1991, at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

He was a production and proration supervisor for Sun Oil for 45 years, a member of the volunteer fire department in Markham, the deacon and treasurer of First Baptist Church in Markham and an avid ham radio operator using call numbers WB5UXL.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy White of Markham; a daughter, Rhonda Fox of Sweeny; two sons, Jack H. White Jr. of Freeport and Gary White of Houston; and 10 grandchildren, Kip, Troy, Erica, Erin, Byron, Ronald, Russell, Stacy, Tracy and Stephen.

Pallbearers are C. W. Rush, Grady Quinney, David Bradley, Mike Johnson, Garin Roecker and Pete Medina.

WHITLEY, ROBERT "DIDDY"

BAY CITY [Matagorda County, Texas] - Robert "Diddy" Whitley, 63, of Bay City, died Thursday, May 15, 2003.

He was born June 2, 1939, in El Campo, to the late Robert B. Sr. and Eva Elizabeth May Whitley. He was owner and operator of Retail Grocery and former employee of Barbosa Group at the TSARS Site in Matagorda. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was member of American Legion in Blessing and First Baptist Church of El Campo.

Survivors: wife, Billie Marie Whitley; daughter, Holly Lynn Vacek of Blessing; son, Reid Clayton Whitley of Angleton; sister, Norma Hunt of Palacios; and six grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: parents; and brother, Charles Thomas Whitley.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Palacios, the Rev. Hollas Hoffman officiating.

WILKINS, DWAIN CHARLES "D.C."

Funeral services for Dwain Charles ( D.C.) Wilkins, 53, of Bay City will be Thursday, July 11, 2002 at noon at Tyree Chapel AME Church in Bay City with the Rev. Joseph T. Garnett and the Rev. Deandre’ K. Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery in Bay City.

Dwain will lie in state at Tyree Chapel from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday. Visitation will be Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m. at Green’s Mortuary.

Dwain was born May 13, 1949 in Crowley, LA to the late Donald C. Wilkins and Melissa Lindsey Amey. He passed away on Monday July 8, 2002 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Houston, TX.

D.C. was educated in the public schools of Bay City. He graduated from A.G. Hilliard High School in 1967 in the last class to graduate from that institution. He also furthered his
education at Wharton County Junior College, majoring in floral design and business.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served from 1967 to 1974, one year was served in Viet Nam. While there, he received a purple heart and a meritorious services award.

D.C. devoted his life to his church, community, and country. He also served as a member of the board of trustees for the Ronald Hilliard Apartments. Even after his services in the Army, he became a life member of the Phillip H. Parker Post No. 2438 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Audrey Wilkins of Bay City; his mother, Melissa Amey of Bay City; one brother, Donald C. Wilkins, Jr and Sandra of Bay City; four aunts, Thelma Cooper, Florence Johnson Roger and Helen Amey of Houston, and Lillian Buchanan of Brooklyn, NY; uncle, Roy Jessie Mae Amey of Bay City; two god sisters, Andrea Lewis and Tiffany Henderson; and a host of stepchildren, step grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are the A.G. Hilliard High School class of 1967. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Phillip H. Parker Post #2438 Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Joel Williams Jr.

Joel Williams Jr., 46, of Star Route Box 31, Bay City, died Sunday at Diagnostic Center Hospital in Houston. A member of the Christian church, Williams was principal of Van Vleck High School, a resident of the Cedar Lake community, and a member of the VFW. He was born Sept. 24, 1930, in Cedar Lake, and served in the U. S. Air Force for four years. He is survived by his father, Joel Williams Sr. of Cedar Lake, four sisters, Mrs. Faye Woodard, Mrs. Wilhelm Moye and Mrs. Girtha Woodard of Cedar Lake, and Mrs. Tena Simien of Sweeny; one brother, Augustus Williams Sr. of Houston. Funeral services will be at Bethlehem Christian Church of Cedar Lake on Wednesday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Lloyd Brown officiating. Interment will be at Bethlehem Cemetery, Cedar Lake, Texas. Active pallbearers will be Louis Brown, James Ashton, Harold Sargent, Irving Brown, Alexander Durley, John Allineice and Henry Henderson. Arrangements are under the direction of Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home.
 

Van Vleck Principal Dies

Joel Williams Jr., 46, principal of Van Vleck High School and long-time resident of the Cedar Lake Community, died Sunday night at Diagnostic Center Hospital in Houston following a serious illness.

His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Christian Church of Cedar Lake.

Born and reared in Cedar Lake, Williams lived there most of his life. He taught school in Wharton for 14 years and then moved to Houston to attend Texas Southern School of Law before returning to Cedar Lake as a permanent resident.

Williams had been principal of Van Vleck Elementary School for approximately three years and assistant principal of the high school for about two years before his appointment as principal six years ago.

He became ill in May, at which time he spent almost a month at Diagnostic Center. He entered the hospital again eight days before his death.

A member of Bethlehem Christian Church, Williams helped organize University Christian Church and Scottcrest Christian Church both of Houston, and served as state secretary to the Texas Christian Missionary Fellowship.

He served four years in the U. S. Air Force, and was a member of the VFW.

Williams was also a member of the Classroom Teachers Association, National Educator's Association, Texas State Teachers Association, the National and Texas Associations of Secondary School Principals and a member of the Board of Directors Matagorda Mental Health Clinic.

WITHROW, DALE L.

Dale L. Withrow

Sept. 25, 1923 - Jan. 20, 2007

Dale L. Withrow, 83, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 20, 2007 in Bay City.

He was born September 25, 1923 in Omaha, Nebraska to Jesse James Withrow and Mary Leighton Withrow. Shortly afterwards the family moved to Kingfisher, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school, he joined the US Navy where he served in the Pacific during World War II. He retired from Phillips Petroleum in Sweeny after 36 years of service.

He was preceded in death by: his father, mother, four brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gladys Withrow of Bay City; two daughters, Betty Burns and husband James of Victoria and Frances Elder and husband Steve of Bay City; grandchildren, Steve Cashion and wife Tammy and their son Cullen of Van Vleck, Tina Keen and husband Troy and their daughter Maegan and son Leighton of Bay City, Bryan Long of Houston, Stephanie Long of Longview, Denaee Eastwood and husband Ronald and their son Truett of Katy, Alysia Burns and her sons Wade and Tate Bludau of Houston, and Trent Elder and wife Jackie and their children Ann Victoria, Jesse, Shi-ann and Catlynn of Slidell, Louisiana; and by close friends of the family: Charles Clark of Houston and Francis Bludau of Hallettsville.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at the First Christian Church of Bay City with Hospice Chaplain Don Storey and the Rev. James Meurer officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Pallbearers and military honors by the Philip H. Parker VFW Post 2438 Honor Guard.

WOELLERT, ALFONCE C.

Alfonce C. Woellert, 81, of Markham, Texas, died September 23, 2004, at his residence. He was born May 9, 1923 in Schulenburg, Texas to the late Joseph and Annie Woellert.

He was well known by many people and all his friends knew him as "Shorty". He was a WW II veteran. Shorty was drafted in the United States Army on January 29, 1943 where he served three years as a Cannoneer (gunner) and of those three years he did two tours in WW II while serving his country meritoriously. He worked for Richard Drilling Company for 13 years and lived in Markham, Texas since 1949.

Survivors include: daughter: Annette Woellert of Markham; grandsons: Rodney Robinson of Austin, Matthew Robin of Yoakum, and Kevin Viet of Shiner, Texas; sister: Augeline Glueck of LaGrange, Texas; and niece Sandra Meyerdirk. He was preceded in death by sisters Viola Meador and Elle Trlicek.

Shorty, you will be missed dearly by all your friends and family. You were always the life of the party and your spirit will never be forgotten. Thank you for the everlasting memories and joy you brought into all our lives.

Graveside Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at the Midfield Cemetery.

WOHLEBER, DAVID OSCAR

David Oscar Wohleber, 60, was born on May 28, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Oscar and Helene Wohleber. He passed away on Friday morning, July 2, 2004, at his home in Bay City, Texas.

Dave served four years in the United States Navy Submarine Force during the Vietnam War. After the military, he began a long career in the nuclear energy business and retired from STP Nuclear Operating Company.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Daniel Owen Wohleber.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Richardson Redd Wohleber of Bay City; son and daughter-in-law, David Oscar Wohleber Jr. and Ingrid; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and John Carroll; daughter, Amy Redd; five grandchildren, Drew, Kade and Pierce Wohleber, and Ashley Findley Carroll and Logan Redd Carroll. He is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.

A loving husband, father and friend, Dave loved life and lived it to the fullest. He was a man of unsurpassed strength and had a unique wit and sense of humor that will long be remembered and missed by those he left behind.

Funeral services for Leon A. Wolfe, age 77, of Markham will be at 2 p. m., Oct. 29 at the First Baptist Church in Markham. Rev. Elizabeth Moreau, Bill Haskell and Howard Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Hawley Cemetery.

Wolfe was born Jan. 28, 1920 in Oak Ridge, Missouri to parents Lafayette Jefferson and Myrtle Claxton Wolfe. He died Oct. 26 at his residence. He was a rice farmer and rancher, a member of the American Legion and an honorary member of the Markham Voluntary fire department. He served in World War II.

Loving survivors are wife, Dorothy Lee Wolfe of Markham; step-son and wife, John and Lupe Cornett of Houston; step-son, Pier Lee Jr. of Markham; step-daughter and husband, Debbie and Craig Radley of El Campo; brothers, Woodrow Wolfe of Upland, California and Ernie Wolfe of Ozark, Missouri; grandchildren, Connie Brinker, Clay, Cole, Casey and Shane Cornett, Fara Ashcraft, Alicia McCracken, Todd Cornett, Amy Lee, Cody, Cade and Coy Radley.

Preceded in death by wife Amy Ulland Wolfe; step-son, James E. Cornett II; brothers, Calvin, Henry, George, Jake and Harry Wolfe; sisters, Louisa Wolfe, Mary Plunkett, Elva Wolfe and Jane Blanton.

Pallbearers are Percy Carroll, Clay, Casey, Cole and Shane Cornett, and Cody Radley.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Scott Stein, Loy Sneary, Scottie Dickerson, John Dickerson, Rip Schultz, Billy Denn, W. H. Bohuslar, Sr. and W. H. Bohuslar, Jr., Stanley Genzer, Sr., Ernest Skappa and Lee Page.

Arrangements are with Bay City Funeral Home.

Leon’s request was for everyone to wear casual dress.

WOODSON, RUIE EUGENE

Ruie Eugene Woodson, 80, of Midfield, Texas died December 27, 2004. He was born July 26, 1924 in Midfield, Texas.

He was retired from Texas Brine Company in Clemville.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by: wife, Rose Fabian Woodson of Midfield; daughter, Sharon Vacek of Markham; sons, Ruie Eugene Woodson, Jr. of Midfield, David Woodson of Midfield, Earl Woodson of Ganado; sisters, Eva Hunt of Palacios; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by Ruie Roscoe Woodson and mother Cora Hale Woodson; and brother, Jack Woodson.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, at Midfield Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Swift officiating. There is no visitation at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are John Hunt, Ruie Eugene Woodson III, Mike Hale, Paul Hale, Nathan Zbranek, Mike Cash.

Arrangements are with Triska Funeral Home in El Campo, Texas.

WRIGHT, JAMES, SR. "JOE"


James “Joe” Wright, Sr., 84, of Bay City died May 21, 2003 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

He was born June 29, 1918 in Virginia City, Va. to the late Jasper Daniel and Maude Orender Wright. Mr. Wright was a member of the City Baptist Church and a resident of Bay City since 1953. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U. S. Army, a Life Member of the Philip H. Parker VFW Post #2438, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Area #3232.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Jessie Tweedle Wright; son and daughter-in-law: James, Jr and Elizabeth Wright all of Bay City; daughter: Linda Sullivan of Santa Fe, Texas; sisters: Virginia Hyatt of Canton, IL, Elsie Burton, and Eula Lecco both of Princeton, W.Va. Marjorie Goodson of Seminola, Fla.; brothers: Kenneth Wright of Wyoming, IL, John Wright of Princeton, W. Va., Fred Wright of Goldstar, Ga; nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Earl Junior Wright.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. May 24, 2003, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Watson officiating.

Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Military honors were under the auspice of Philip H. Parker VFW Post #2438.

Pallbearers were members of the VFW Post #2438.

Memorials may made to the Kidney Foundation.

WYSE, JAMES MORRIS

James Morris Wyse, Jr., 77, of Bay City, died March 20, 2005, at Triumph Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas.

He was born July 8, 1926, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to the late James Morris and Naomi Powell Wyse, Sr.

He was a resident of Bay City since 1946, a member of the First United Methodist Church, and was a veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He also was a retired pipefitter with Phillips Petroleum Company.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Trip and Ann Wyse, III of Garland, Texas, and Pat and Vicki Wyse of Bryan, Texas; four grandchildren, Kelly Ann Wyse of Los Angeles, Stacy Lee Wyse of Garland, and Stephen and Chris Wyse, both of Bryan, Texas.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Patti Wyse; and by his brother, Jack Wyse.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kevin Young officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck.

WYSE, JO A.

SUGAR LAND - Jo A. Wyse, 72, of Sugar Land and formerly of Cedar Lane, died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004.

He was born March 14, 1921, in Texarkana, to the late James Alfred and Carrie Morris Wyse. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a member of Cedar Lane Baptist Church.

Survivors: son, Joe E. Wyse of Sugar Land; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: wife, Verna Wyse; sons, Richard Lee Wyse and Roy M. Griffith III; and brother, Morris Wyse.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Cedar Lane Baptist Church, the Rev. Bob Whitchurch officiating.

Burial will be at Matthews Cemetery in Van Vleck. Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City, 979-245-4613.

Pallbearers: Lois Willy, Danny Andel, Frank Baker, Charles Dacke, Dr. Robert Coburn, and Ted Hobby.
