Will of Archibald Akins 1768

Last Will & Testament of Archibald Akins of Cecil County, proved May 30, 1768

In the name of God, Amen, I Archibald Akins of Cecil County in the Colony of Maryland, formerly of the County of Monahan, Province of Ulster, in the Kingdom of Ireland, being of sound mind and memory (blessed be God), calling to mind that it is appointed once for man to die, do this twenty-sixth day of September in the year of our Lord seventeen hundred and sixty four, make, constitute, and ordain this my last will and testament; that is to say, first I recommend my soul to Almighty God who gave it, and my body to the dust from whence it came, to be buried in a decent Christian manner, and touching my worldly goods which it has pleased God to bless me with, I devise in manner foloing -

Viz. First I do will and bequeath to my eldest son, James Akins, who now resides in the County of Macklinburg in the Colony of North Carolina, the proceeds from the sale of the land where I now live, lying in the County of Cecil, Colony of Maryland, being 100 acres or thereabouts, lying on the Susquhenna River, adjoining the property of Soloman Kelly and William Bryarly, in addition to all of my personal estate, including my pistols, cane, sword and seal, together with the family Bible of my great grandfather, Alexander Akin of that Ilk, with his patent of Arms brought from Scotland, now in my house, to be kept by him and his heirs forever after, Amen.

Secondly I do will and bequeath to my next son, John Akins, the land that he now lives upon, lying in the County of Cecil, Colony of Maryland, consisting of 80 acres or thereabouts, adjoining the property of William Kelly and Hugh Alexander, to be enjoyed by him and his heirs forever after, Amen.

Third, I do will and bequeath to my youngest son, Henry Akins the land that he now lives upon, lying in Cecil County in the Colony of Maryland, consisting of 80 acres or thereabouts, adjoining the property of William Smith and Alexander Cummings, to be enjoyed by him and his heirs forever after, Amen.

And lastly I constitute and appoint my son, John Aikins and my brother-in-law Hugh Alexander to serve as Executors of this my last will and testament.
