Will of William Scarf 1806

Last Will and Testament William Scarf of Baltimore County, Dated 17 May 1806, Proved 2 June 1808

In the name of God Amen.
I, William Scarf of the State of Maryland, in Baltimore County, being of a sound disposing mind and memory do make this my last Will and Testament as follows. Viz:

First. I will and bequeath my house and lot lying in the presents of Baltimore City which lot will appear by serching the records of Baltimore County to my Sister Rebecca Scarf during her life at and after her decease my will and mind is that my brother Benjamin Scarfs daughter Hannah Scarf should enjoy the before mentioned property during her life and her heirs forever to will and dispose of according to their mind at my decease. I will all my household furniture and utensils of every discription to be sold and to be paid to the above mentioned Hannah Scarf one hundred dollars and the remainder be equally divided among the above named Rebecca and Hannah. I do declare this my last Will and Testament.

Baltimore County to wit on the 2 day of June 1806 came John Hughes and William Hooper two of the subscribing evidences to the afergoing last Will and Testament of William Scarf deceased and made oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that they did see the Testator sign and seal this will that they heard him publish pronounce and declare the same to be his last Will and Testament that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their apprehentions of sound disposing mind memory and understanding that they subscribed their names as witnesses to this will in his presence at his request and in the present of the other witness sworn before me Register of Wills for Baltimore County.

Maryland Ss. Know all men by these presents that we Hanah Scarf, John Hughes, William Hooper are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of one thousand Dollars to be paid to the said State of Maryland. To which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind our selves and every of us with every of our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators in the whole and for the whole jointly and severally firmly by those presents, sealed with our seals and dated this 3rd day of June 1806. The Condition of the above obligation is such that of the aforebound Hanah Scarf shall well and truly perform the office of the Administration with the will and [illegible] of William Scarf late of Baltimore County deceased, according to Law and shall in all respects discharge the faithful performance of said offices then the above obligation shall be void it is otherwise to be in full force and virtue of Law.
