Brown, Harry W.

Ord, Neb. - Harry W. Brown died at his home here.  The Knights of Pythias had charge of the services.  He is survived by his wife and two brothers, George W. Brown and Robert K. Brown.

Burrows, John S.

Judge John S. Burrows, an old and influential citizen or Ord, died last week of paralysis.

Clement, N. G.

N. G. Clement, 82, veteran of the civil war and resident of Valley county since 1874, died at his home.  He was born near Sidney, O., and enlisted with Company A, 3d batallion of the 13th U. S. infantry and served with the Union army from August, 1861, to May, 1866.  On May 9, 1863, he was made a captain of a company of infantry.  At the time of his death Mr. Clement was still residing on the place he obtained by exercising his soldier filing rights.  He was a carpenter by trade and had direct supervision of the building of Fort Robinson and Fort Niobrara in Nebraska, also Fort Douglas, Utah.  Mr. Clement was one of the early day commissioners of Valley county.  He had decided ideas on moral issues and resigned when the other two members of the board voted to lower the license fee for the selling of liquor.  Mr. Clement was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist church of North Loup.  He leaves a wife, one son, Hugh, of North Loup, two daughters, Mrs. Ava Johnson of North Loup and Mrs. Clara E. C. Holmes, who is the principal of the Valleyside rural high school.
